We’ve been critical of LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva in the past as he’s no friend of gun owners or civilian gun rights. But credit where it’s due for a well-played move. LeBron James has taken great pride in cloaking himself in a veneer of social justice credibility. Where Michael Jordan actively avoided politics, noting that Republicans buy sneakers, too, James, has happily waded in on political and social issues to signal his bottomless supply of virtue social consciousness to the world.

After allowing himself to be filmed shooting a machine gun in 2014, James delivered a moving speech on “gun violence” at the 2016 ESPY awards. He’s been a dedicated gun control advocate (“There’s no room for guns“) while paying large sums to hire men with guns to ensure that he and his family stay safe.

James made sure to join the chorus that rightly called for justice for Breonna Taylor who was killed in a no-knock raid by plain clothes Louisville police officer.

Last month, after the Jacob Blake shooting in Kenosha, James opined that even lawfully-owned hunting firearms are problematic from a racial justice perspective. Guns, he said, are “not used for just hunting that a lot of people do for sport. Right now for Black people, right now when you’re hunting, we think you’re hunting us.”

James even took time out from his busy schedule recently to narrate a video promoting the idea that black Americans need to vote like their lives depend on it.

After the weekend ambush of two his deputies as they sat in their vehicle, however, Sheriff Villanueva evidently decided he’s had enough of James’ hypocritical moralizing. He announced that he wants the NBA start to put his money where his publicity-seeking mouth is and match the reward that’s been posted for information about the shooter who’s still on the loose.

From CBS News . . .

“This challenge is to Lebron James. I want you to match that and double that reward,” [Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex] Villanueva said. “I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African-American community. And I appreciated that. But likewise, we need to appreciate that respect for life goes across professions, across races, creeds, and I’d like to see LeBron James step up to the plate and double that.”

James, who has been vocal about police shootings involving Black people, had not publicly responded to the sheriff’s challenge as of early Tuesday morning. Last month, James expressed outrage after an officer shot Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, saying that Black people in America are “terrified.”

Villanueva wants to counter the demonization of law enforcement officers that has created the climate in which cops have become targets.

“They’re out there doing their job and yet we have people fanning the flames of hatred and just turning up the volume when we don’t need it. We need to be turning it down,” Villanueva said. “Particularly our elected officials and civic leaders and sports figures, they need to start emphasizing trust in the system, due process.”

Strangely, there’s been no response yet from James to Sheriff Villanueva’s challenge. Then again, with his Lakers in the playoffs, he’s awfully busy these days. We’re sure he’ll get around to helping in the effort track down the shooter just as soon as he can.

    • Police follow orders and do what they’re paid for, just like everyone else. The slimebuckets who give the marching orders and throw money around are what we need to worry about.

      • Ing,
I’m absolutely not trying to justify the shootings, but I also don’t believe LASD practices conscription. Its deputies had every chance to protect/serve in the very free state 3hrs away, or several decent inland-CA communities within an hour or so; private security, the military, or any other career for that matter. They freely chose an oath dedicating their lives to enforcing one of the ~top-ten most unjust sets of laws in the US, under that particular slimebucket.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how the current reward compares to those for the killers of a schoolteacher, pastor, insurance salesman, etc. I’m guessing it’s not lower.

      • not all officers will do that some of them realize that they are supposed to follow the law the real law, not these illegal ones, and instead stand against any anti 2nd adamant laws that go against the constitution

    • busybusybusy…If you have done nothing illegal and the “boys in blue” come to take your rights they are no longer “boys in blue.” They have become, “the boys in brown shirts.” That is for another day..

Today On the other hand…Just the other day in Houston another no knock went south and a battering ram was used to gain entry into the wrong home. Even though the occupants told the officers no one in their home was a bad guy and the home owner was retired police the highly incompetent gung-ho clowns broke the door down anyway. The house they were looking for was across the street. In these cases of incompetence it’s time for a lawsuit that hurts and sends a message.

Right now for the most part the fuse that ignited the protests was lit by such incompetence. The destruction is attributed to scumbags hiding among the protesters and breaking away to bully, loot, burn and create fear which makes the protest appear much more blood thirsty than it is. Breakaways are punks who can dish it out but cannot take it.

The problem is elected leaders who allow punks to dish it out without fear of prosecution, injury, etc. Punks have not felt the fire so they don’t understand what fire is but when they do understand they won’t be so eager to stick their hand back in it.

Bottom Line…I am not going to allow the incompetent antics of a few bad apples to broad brush Law Enforcement and neither should you or anyone else.

      • Labron James is a well paid propaganda mouth piece for his democRat Party slave masters. Watch your back LeBron or your democRat Party pals will have you picking cotton. It’s in their history and it’s in their nature you pathetic politically inept midnight basketball fool.

        • Anyone who even considers the opinion of a man who demands millions of bucks to play a child’s game, while refusing to hold an actual job, has to be a moron. He’s a fool! Who cares what he thinks?

    • Acab? Bruh, if you are shouting that shit you might as well about BLM and ANTIFA shit next. I refuse to believe that all cops are bad but I also know their purpose is law enforcement above all else. Stop acting like you’d survive in anarchy. This isn’t the frontier, there’s no such thing as free or freedom. Everything is limited. Corruption exists everywhere. Even in your own mind.

    • Who do you think are sending those cops. It’s politicians. People like you who post ACAB are obviously too dumb to figure out that the cops in liberal ran cities answer ultimately to the Mayor, much like the idiot who runs Portland.

  1. This weekend I came home to find and expensive parking ticket on my PWC trailer, parked in front of my house. There was 1 inch between the tires of the trailer and the curb. I was cited for parking an unattached oversized vehicle in front of my house. If the local police department does crap like this, how can they possibly think the populace will happily support them? They didn’t do anything about multiple break-in attempts either. Trespassers inside my fenced in backyard? Nope, not a thing. How about when I was recovering from back surgery and I was assaulted for having a disabled placard? They took their sweet time responding and didn’t do ANYTHING. I don’t hate all cops, but there is no way I’m supporting my local police department, they are useless.

    • Then take the oath and put the uniform on, work your way up through the ranks and change your department. Then you might learn something about WHY police response times are often so long. You can be a part solution, or stop complaining about the problem, not both. Sorry that youre such a victim. Why are you even on a pro Second Amendment page anyway? You clearly are quick to throw around blame without explaining why you didnt do a thing to protect yourself or your property.

      • You’ll get fired for not toeing the line long before you can change anything yourself. I personally know an ex-cop who tried and was fired because he wouldn’t lie under oath about whether another officer fabricated evidence. Yes, they were both in a union, but if you won’t commit crimes to cover up fellow officers’ crimes, the union wants you out too. IA wouldn’t touch it because they also wanted the backing of the union and the police chief. The falsely accused man walked free, but my friend is now blacklisted from police work pretty much anywhere and works in private security now.

Bottom line, you can spend 20 years in police work trying to be the change you want to see, but as soon as the cop mafia figures out you won’t kill in cold blood for them, you’re out. And that’s exactly how we got where we are today, with a system that selects for criminal betrayal of the public by putting politicians at the top. All cops are bastards not by virtue of becoming cops, but by virtue of still being cops.

This quagmire of corruption, like most others, brought to you by Average Joe brand uninformed voters. “Vote for the psychopath with a pretty smile!”

  2. At least the sheriff is standing up for his men. It all depends on who’s ox is gored. There are many cops with permanent injuries after these riots. Blinded by laser pointer. Permanent vision damage for example.

  3. Sounds like commie talk to me. There’s plenty of other people’s money to spend…. until there isn’t and you go in to fatal debt. Typical California politician.

  4. Back to the article: asking a basketball player to “step up to the plate “ is confusing sports, and may be confusing LeBron given his limited, Biden like, natural intellect.

  5. I know that there are people that hold LeBron James up on a pedestal and hang on every word he utters as if he were a god dishing out moral code. For that, I understand.

The only interest I ever had was his skills at basketball. He is however part of what has destroyed the sport…for my life anyway. He has absolutely no credibility in the realm of politics or guns. As so many other celebrities that overstep their skill sets.

  6. I just reviewed the video of the shooting of the two LA county fires again. If LeBron James and President Obama had a bastard son, he would look just like the shooter. Guess who the father would be.

In other news, the good citizens of Corbett Oregon responded to reports of looting while their community was threatened by wildfires, and even “rumors” that ANTIFA arsonists were starting these fires or at least assisting their propagation, by setting up road blocks to exclude people who didn’t belong in their neighborhood. The Multnomah County Sheriff responded with a stern warning that only police have the authority to obstruct a public roadway and accosting passerbys. This is quite an astonishing revelation to those of us who have been watching BLM and ANTIFA rioters obstruct the streets of Portland while they were vandalizing, looting and committing arson for over 100 nights. They torched the police headquarters as well as the condominium tower that Soy Boy Wheeler lives in.

In other interesting news, ANTIFA has suddenly ceased the nightly riotong in Portland. It seems that there were more rumors that all of the rural folk who had been compelled to evacuate to escape the fires or even lost their homes and even their entire communities to the fires were seeking retribution. The possibility that there was going to be a 6,000 vehicle caravan of irate rural folk doing a Thunder Run through Portland, this time armed with AR-15s rather than paintball guns or bear mace, motivated the ANTIFA BLM vermin to stay home where they wouldn’t get themselves shot.

    • 6,000 armed and angry people with MSRs seeking retribution for rumored fire-setting? Doesn’t sound like an event that’s going to portray gun owners in a positive light.

  7. Villanumbnuts needs to worry about doing his job, like stopping people from blocking entrances to hospitals. Let the social justice mob take care of Lebraindead, he’s in the top 1% they’re always complaining about.

  8. This is retarded. Now one of the shooter’s criminal low life friends will snitch and become rich.

Why work hard when you can just be friends with people who shoot cops?

  9. I would be surprised if his China OR Nike “handlers” allow him to respond in any manner other then the standard leftard pro-BLM/Antifa BS.
JeBron Lames knows how his bread gets buttered.

    • Could go both ways. You may be correct and he might be beholden to spout what his $$ benefactors have contracted him to say, or he might be wealthy enough to disregard any contractual obligations and just spout off what’s really on his mind.

As for me, I’ve never watched a single game in my life that contained LeBron. In fact, about a decade ago I narrowed my pro sports viewership down to only the Superbowl. No more MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, nada. With so many players earning absurd amounts of money and still behaving like overgrown children (with many ending up later in jail, rehab, or court), the days of sportsmen being actual role models are gone. As in, generations long gone.

      • I have to admit, I watch the Super Bowl, but only for the ads. Otherwise, my sports viewing is pretty much limited to Formula One. Losers like James, or people disrespecting my flag, would have stopped me anyway, but I have never been interested. In F1, I find it fascinating that everybody is all about “stop racism” this year, I guess nobody told them their entire business is racist. Do they think people will watch them on a Sunday drive through the park? No, man, it’s all about the RACE!

  10. LeBron who? What kind of a name is “LeBron,” anyway. I don’t see that on the little bike license plates at the truckstop. Maybe that’s why they grow up so pissed off, no little license plates like the Mikes and Amys of the world?

  11. LeBron James probably will not respond at all since it puts him in a classic lose-lose situation.

If he does open his mouth, he will probably say something about police oppressing black people in Los Angeles County and how he will not support such a racially biased system.

  12. It isn’t White folks that are shooting Black folks and their children in their neighborhood. And if Blacks would stop committing crime to the extent that they do more than Whites and also stopped resisting arrest (when they’re surrounded by cops which is stupid) they wouldn’t get shot so much by the cops either.

But you can’t get anyone on corporate propaganda media to say those truths so it gets ignored.

Well Lebron’s gonna have to rethink his position when he finds his salary taking a nose dive over the lack of anyone watching millionaire thugs playing a game with a ball.

  13. A real patriot wouldn’t watch any sport that take a knee… Or take advice from a jerk that makes millions of dollars for playing a kids game.
    “””FREE KYLE”””

    • I can’t figure that part out either.

An American NEVER kneels except for religious purposes.

I stopped watching when pro-athletes did this.

  14. What is this basketball you speak of?!? I thought that clown show died. Haven’t watched those tattoed freaks since Jordan left. James is retarded.

  15. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • Agreed… fuck the NBA, a wholly owned subsidiary of George Soros/ BLM. I’ve said it before- if these a -holes couldn’t dribble a child’s play toy while running inside of an arena in their endorsed, thousand dollar Chinese made shoes, they’d be lucky to have a job as a janitor in their hometown school district… And take the rest of the leagues to hell with you!!!

  16. The sheriff should announce that if any of James’s bodyguards so much as displays a firearm, he will come down on them with the full force of the law. Gun violence is gun violence, right?

  17. If black people are scared of what happened to Jacob Blake the recipe to avoid it is pretty simple; Don’t charge cops with a butcher knife. It seems fairly self evident to most.

    • More precisely, don’t charge “at” the officer in a direction away from him with your back turned to him, unless you saw a different video.

  18. Just doing what you’re told by a cop would go a llllonnnng way’s to not being shot , but retards don’t think straight anyways, … It’s whitey’s fault don’t ya know…?
    “””FREE KYLE”””

    • At least he’ll go alone…. not like his former teammate that took eight others “out of the game” with him … ” It’s okay- I’ll get us to a youth basketball game in my chopper. Through the fog. On the other side of the foothills. That’s how I got my nickname… (Showboat) ” The richer they get, the more stupid they become!

  19. LeBron is all mouth, albeit absurdly oversized and able to jump while carrying a big round ball in his hand. If we want to find out how good these players are, most of whom can grab the rim while standing on the floor, by raising the basket about another five feet. Let them try to dunk then.
Regardless, I don’t care. I stopped watching BB when MJ packed it in. Hasn’t been the same since, what with overly tall underly endowed freaks of nature started dribbling diarrhea and politics instead of balls.
