Wide Open Media Corrections Policy
Corrections matter to Wide Open Media because, first and foremost, we believe in being transparent with our readers about how we assess and report information. We’re a team of real people behind your screen; mistakes, typos, and misspellings will happen. What we can control is how our readers know and understand a post has been corrected or clarified.
A correction will be made in case of factual error, unclear language, or brand or personal name misspellings. The corrections note will reveal what was changed, why, and when the change was made. In formatting, the corrections note will be italicized at the bottom of the article. For example,
This post was updated on February 15, 2019, to reflect editorial corrections around unclear language regarding the division between Philip Morris International and Altria, notably the correct spelling of Andre Calantzopoulos’ last name, CEO of Philip Morris International. The post unclearly implied that Marlboro cigarette production in the United States would halt, but Altria and Philip Morris USA have made no such announcements.
For updated stories, the original story will always be clearly demarcated and follow the update so our readers understand how the news or story unfolded.
