A Wauwatosa, Wisconsin shopping mall was the scene of a shooting in which eight people were wounded on Friday. Naturally the local media sought out the Milwaukee suburb’s mayor for a little insight into the incident. Fortunately, Mayor Dennis McBride was only too happy to share his wisdom on the disturbing event.

Mayfair [Mall] has a strict no-gun policy, [Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis] McBride shared and said, “guns have no place in shopping malls or other places in which crowds of people gather… If the shooter had complied with that policy, no one would have been hurt yesterday.”

        Arson is illegal, yet people set fires all the time and there are no calls to ban articles that cause fire, drunk drivers cause deaths with their automobiles every damned day, and not one call to ban automobiles, people also die in knife attacks yet no cutlery control laws have ever been discussed.

          Something of this nature happened about 2012 in Clackamas County Oregon. A shooter shot, but his gun jammed. Someone had a gun, displayed it. That someone DIDN’T kill the shooter, but the shooter shortly thereafter killed himself.
          But in accounts, the biased MSM downplay the role of the armed citizen.

      According to Wisconsin state law, carrying in a posted gun-free zone is a Class B forfeiture, an infraction punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000, and no possibility of jail time.

      It’s a ticket.

      • I carry in 30.06 posted areas all the time in Texas ever since they reduced the penalty to a ticket. Malls, restaurants, … the thing to keep in mind is these 30.06 places are almost always in leftist controlled jurisdictions, so if you do take down a bad guy with your gun, youā€™ll probably get a ticket and not be recognized as saving the day for anyone.

      • Criminals do not obey any laws. Just as locks only keep honest people honest, laws just affect the law-abiding. The problem with some of our laws is that they give too much power to the lawbreakers. The law-abiding are being hand-cuffed by the overabundance of gun laws. Gun-free zones are a joke unless everyone has to pass through a metal detector in order to enter such zones. What would solve the problem of gun-free zones is for everybody to avoid them until their safety can be assured. If you are not allowed to protect yourself or your loved ones, you enter at your own risk. GUN-FREE ZONES ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACES IN MODERN AMERICA!

        • A couple of years ago I happened to be in Pigeon Forge, TN. A friend and I went out to dinner and the manager came over to say hello. I told him if I was a criminal his would be the first place I would rob. He looked shocked and asked why. I told him the big sign on the front door saying ā€œNO GUNS ALLOWEDā€. I would feel very safe.

    • You just gave the mayor something else to do. Post a bunch of signs around town that say “No killing zone”. It should work as well as “no drug zone”, “no littering”, “no gun zone”, “quiet zone” etc.

You people were not taught well enough what the Constitution of The United States of America is all about.         • I don’t see the story listed anywhere on the CNN main page. They have plenty of other, older, less important stories listed. So, you would have to search for it to find it. They also fail to mention the shooter’s or victims’ races. They ALWAYS mention that in stories when a black person is shot by the police, as if that’s why they were shot. As a matter of fact, they throw in a black criminal being shot by the police at the end of this story for some reason, except they fail to mention that the black guy was armed with a handgun and resisting arrest.

Once it came out that the killer was a 15 yr old gang member involved in a gang shootout, they dropped the story and purged their website of any mention of a shooting in Wisconsin. Pathetic.

  14. So, according to the Left, walls do not work, but signs provide an adequate level of protection.

    When I am finally inaugurated I will issue an Executive Order mandating that if a “gun free zone” sign is posted on any property open to the public, then that property owner becomes fully liable for the safety of of the visitor, including for any harm caused by armed perpetrators.

Here in Washington, only places like the Post Office, which I ignore, bars, cannabis stores, courts and a few other places which prohibit carrying a concealed weapon by LAW have any force of law. Your state may be different. The mall near me has signs that say no guns and such, which I ignore. My safety is more important than the malls sign and narrow thinking and carries no force of law. Should they have Xray vision and see through my clothes, they can only tell me to leave which is fine with me, malls are sinking into an abyss like many other malls across America with 25% of all malls likely shuttering in the next five years and 50% of all department stores closing in all malls by 2021.

We already know we are graduating high school students who Can’t Read, Can’t Write, Can’t Spell, Can’t do Math, and I know, I have owned a publishing company in Beverly Hills for 35 years and I have seen hundreds of job applications come across my desk that reveal the depth of decay in our education system. When I came to California in 1960 we ranked in 7th place in education nationally…today it’s 21st and falling. West Virginia where I was born and raises ranks 39th place and so do many other states…LAUSD teaches K-12 in “10 languages”…our immigration system is based on everyone being qualified to speak English, we need to created ENGLISH ONLY classes for the first two grades before we just moved these kids on to remain crippled for most of their 12 years of educationā€”a good reason why so many drop out…but our teachers and their moronic union care more about their benefit package then about teaching. During the school shut down these teachers SUFFERED MORE from Internet ignorance than their students who were distracted by other issues in their household while most parents were left to fend for themselves in this new universe of learning. No education authority had any experience or a grasp of the problems that included parents unable to work because their kids are at home. The mayor is stupid because he thinks that a gun free zone will stop the shooter. NOW, If the shooter were shooting at you, would you prefer to shoot back in self defense or let the shooter keep on shooting? Which is exactly what the shooter did. He kept on shooting until he had shot 8 people. NOW, Again, would you rather shoot back at the shooter or not be allowed to defend yourself and shoot back??? GUN FREE ZONES get people killed because the law provides the criminal with a gun free environment to shoot someone that isn’t allowed to carry a firearm to protect themselves.
