Do you prefer the superior concealment of inside the waistband carry? Do you not like the feel of a Kydex holster or Boltaron? Galco has you covered with the company’s newly improved Scout IWB holster. The high quality gun holster features two clips to accommodate your favorite carry style; the UniClip that goes over your belt or the Ultimate Stealth clip that has a hook and mounts behind it for the least conspicuous carry option for your conceal-carry handgun. Here’s the Galco press release to see if it makes your wishlist . . .

Galco Gunleather is very excited to introduce an improved Scout™ IWB holster!

Improved for 2018 with an in-line redesign to add Galco’s innovative new UniClip™ and Ultimate Stealth™ clips, the open-top Scout leather IWB holster is constructed with the rough side of the leather out. This highest quality construction method provides additional stability in the waistband, reduces break in, covers the trigger guard, and provides a smooth concealed-carry leather holster pocket for a faster, smoother feel on the draw. The reinforced mouth on this great holster allows for easy return to the concealed-carry holster.

The ambidextrous Scout is supplied with two types of interchangeable tuckable clips. The first is the UniClip™, designed to go over the gun belt, but which also works well without a belt. The second is the Ultimate Stealth™ clip with hook, which fits on the trouser waistband, under or behind a belt with just the clip showing, for the ultimate in stealthy concealment!

Both belt clips on this waistband holster are adjustable for cant, making the Scout suitable for strongside, crossdraw, or appendix carry positions. Lifetime warranty.

  • Rough-out steerhide with top craftsmanship
  • Open top
  • Reinforced mouth for easy re-holstering
  • Ambidextrous
  • Includes two different metal clips to fit most gun belts
  • Adjustable for forward cant for the right “o’clock position” for the user
  • UniClip fits belt up to 1 1/2″. Ultimate Stealth clip fits belts of unlimited width patent pending

Available in natural finish with black mouth band, the Scout’s MSRP is $83.

Fits for GLOCK 19, GLOCK 43 and many other models (19X, 23, 26, 27, 32, 33, 43X, 45), SIG Sauer, Kimber, Ruger, Springfield (1911 and Hellcat, but no XD serious), Smith & Wesson J Frame revolvers, and other gun models.

  1. I’ve got something similar for a little baretta and my gripe with it is that the leather is too thick, especially at the top where they add the reinforcement. It just didn’t conceal all that well frankly. YMMV.

    • The thicker leather at the top prevents the mouth from closing, thus allowing reholstering. I have a holster from High Noon that has a similar feature, and it doesn’t effect concealability for me; the real issue is always the heel of the grip. In this particular holster, the top of the mouth is even with the top ofone’s belt and therefore shouldn’t show at all. The overall added thickness is about 1/4 inch. If you start with a skinny pistol (Kahr, LC9 or 1911), the extra width is nominal.

  2. I few years ago I had a galco leather holster that I used for my little .380 Bersa. It worked ok. It was comfortable, but didn’t conceal as well as the kydex I ended up with. Also took a bit to mold to the firearm. The picture at the top of this page though shows a glock in it, and in my opinion that’s just begging for a ND. I would only use a leather holster for a firearm that has a manual safety, and that safety would have to be engaged while it was in the holster.

  3. I was looking at this holster a few days ago on the internet. My primary concern (not having handled the actual holster) is that the single screw that allows a change in cant, being so far below the top of the holster, would allow the gun to rock back and forth in the waist band, perhaps being exacerbated if the screw were to loosen. In my view, that would be a bad thing.

  4. GALCO holsters or GALLO (your spelling) wine??? I have a similar Galco that fits an XDs (45) and two Shields (9 & 40). It is also leather & covers the extractor on these pistols. VERY important when carried LEFT-hand IWB. Left-hand carry puts the extractor next to one’s skin – exposes the non-corrosion resistant extractor finish to SWEAT (salt water). The kydex holsters do NOT protect the extractors.
