Since Matt in FL found gainful employment, TTAG’s Daily Digest has languished in obscurity, fondly recalled by BITD-OFWGs (Back In The Day Old Fat White Guys). In the interest of reader engagement I hereby pronounce the feature resurrected. Here’s all the gun news that didn’t fit. Well, my favorite bits . . .

Shocking force: Police in Maryland didn’t follow Taser safety recommendations in hundreds of incidents – TASERs can kill! The Baltimore Sun reveals that MD police shock perps longer than the recommended 15 seconds and barb them in the chest, also not recommended. But effective. TASER has never lost a wrongful death lawsuit.

What states are talking the most about guns on Instagram? – Nevada, Hawaii, Florida, Arizona, Oregon, in that order. Which proves what? And since when does Instagramming equal talking?

Guns and Gore Merge in Bloody Ceramic Sculptures – “In his new sculpture series, Karma III— Battlefield, Johnson Tsang unites guns with the carnage they cause.” Not even remotely nauseating – save the attempt to vilify firearms ownership.

‘He didn’t have no gun,’ says mother after watching footage of son killed by police – The Oakland County Prosecutor’s office say Deviere Ransom shot himself in the head as he was simultaneously shot by police. Bad timing or good timing?

Reducing gun violence not a matter of trust but of urgency: Bob Ault, God Before Guns – “As President Obama said; ‘If a child can’t open a bottle of aspirin, we should also make sure she can’t pull the trigger of a gun.'” Off with their fingers!

Tanhuato massacre: Mexico skirts transparency, seals Tanhuato investigation for 5 years – The Mexican Army’s extra-judicial killing of 42 citizens is beyond reproach.

Feds arrest two Laredo men accused of buying 30 guns for Zetas in San Antonio – Best leave Mexican gun smuggling to the ATF.

Cynthia Dill: At the Republican convention, expect riots, guns and red meat“Republicans preach a philosophy of traditional values, and it might be an old-fashioned shootout that decides once and for all who the true conservative is this year, harkening back to the good old days of Alexander Hamilton.” As if. If only?

  1. Glad to see it’s back! It was a good nightcap back in the day. Hopefully it sticks around.

  2. Guns and Gore; He tried making a documentary. He tried jetting around the globe and giving speeches. Now he’s back… with a vengeance. Al Gore in ‘Guns and Gore’. A one man crusade to wipe out climate deniers. (gratuitously violent action scenes) There’s a chill in the air… and his name is Gore!

Good job. I kind of forgot about the daily digest, but I’m glad it’s back.

  3. I watched the snap cap video and it was useful – I hadn’t looked at comparisons of the different brands before and figured they were all of interchangeable quality.

That being said, while the question seems silly, and I’m guessing that was what merited the “seriously” remark, I appreciate the question being asked. When it comes to firearms, any serious question is a good question. It’s better to ask and get clarification than to remain confused. I don’t care if the question is, “which way do I point this thing,” and will happily spend an hour going over that if the person really wants to know (rather than asking to just be a jerk).

    • TTAG management:

Snap-Caps (and their use) would make a very good ‘Guns for Beginners’ post.

The Tipton ones are very nice quality for centerfire ammo, the spring softens the impact on the firing pin…

      • another thing good for beginners, if you got the reloading tool to do primers, is wax slugs fired with only primer power. Cowboy action shooters use em plenty, and they are fun indoors, with only a mild pop like a cap gun.

Yes, i know i just said beginners and reloading tools, but its on youtube, anyone can figure it out.

  4. Yay! I missed this feature. I don’t even care RF only resurrected this to get more sponsorship dollars. 😉

  5. I’m not surprised that Upper Midwest Scandinavians aren’t showing off their guns on Instagram.

  6. Need to cross reference the Instagram gunning with overall use of Instagram compared to age of the population….
