Irish democracy takes hold in the Golden State: California Gun Owners Are Lashing Out Against New Firearms Laws – “Assured that he was not talking to the police, Joe straightened up and declared that he was not planning to register the many weapons he owns that are affected by the new legislation. ‘Do you know how many I’d have to register?’ he asked. Joe, who declined to answer his own question, is one of many California gun owners who are voicing their outrage at a package of new firearms laws signed into law last month by Governor Jerry Brown.”

Shooting outside Raleigh home followed 911 call about ‘hoodlums’ – “After her brief conversation with a dispatcher, the man who made the initial call came on the phone. ‘We have a lot of people outside our house, yelling and shouting profanities,’ he said. ‘I yelled at them, ‘Please leave the premises.’ They were showing a firearm, so I fired a warning shot and, uh, we got somebody that got hit.’” Sometimes you can’t shake your head enough.

Who knew you could do that professionally?

Rocklin gun store owner refuses to remove barriers – “‘If they fine me, the fine’s gonna be far less than it would be if a 3,000-pound vehicle smashing through my building and causing about $50,000 worth of damage,’ Adams said. ‘And then, the effect of all the guns being out on the street. I’ll take the fine.’”

Kinda like KeyMod Lego:

And finally . . .

Tim’s studied the Dems’ talking point manual well: Kaine blasts NRA as ‘shill for the gun manufacturers’ – “‘You can support the Second Amendment, that’s fine, but we ought to be able to have reasonable rules to keep people safe in this country,’ Kaine told an enthusiastic audience at the Progressive National Baptist Convention. Congress is too cowed by the gun lobby group, Kaine said, and by siding with the NRA against gun-control laws is siding against ‘a majority of Americans, a majority of gun owners, a majority of NRA members,’ who support certain gun-control measures opposed by the NRA.” Certain gun control measures. Registration, universal background checks, and a new ‘assault weapons’ ban.

    • I don’t understand what this post is trying to say. Is the purpose of this posting just to discredit several incidents that have happened around Kali-kountry that all show willingness to disobey the new gun laws?
I’m a bit confused somebody able to explain this to me a bit better than the written article?

      • I’m confused by you being confused. With all of the illegal i.e. Unconstitutional ‘laws’ the fools passed, almost instantly making citizens criminals. Not one of the laws will have one one iota of an effect on the thugs being thugs. All the laws passed are basically a circle jerk in SackOfTomatoes to make each of them feel good. Today they forced through, another 400. Laws that absolutely no one has a clue about and has zero to do with much of anything. But back to the subject. I know of no one that is going to comply, no registration, no serial number no mag limits, no permits to purchase ammo nothing. Oh by the way, the Kommieforniastan Constitution recognized the US Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land. It’s a same the jerks ignore their oaths of office.

        • I was just inquiring as to what the point was of pointing out these things going on in California. I’m suspecting that the reason was to put California gun owners as bad people who “even admit ” that they will choose to disobey any new gun laws. In order for the anti-gunners to use to help fund thier causes and agenda. It wouldn’t be the first time the left wingers tried that.

      • Government will eventually get the insurance, banker and utility companies to enforce the laws.

Homeowner’s insurance will require “gun-free” homes – too dangerous to be occupied.
Mortgage companies won’t issue a loan for an uninsured home.
Utility companies will refuse to connect “gun containing buildings” – too dangerous for their employees.
Burglars (now a misdemeanor for under $1,000) will be highly rewarded for discovering weapons felons.
It will become a crime to use a firearm in self-defense.

Hillary’s SCOTUS will uphold all the laws enabling the above tactics.
Too bad conservative selected a blowhard idiot to run against her, should have picked Kasich or Rubio.

        • I’ll grant you that Trump’s an idiot windbag who will lose, and lose HUUUGE, but that’s it.

Conservatives didn’t vote for him. Liberal crossovers voted for him. Moderates voted for Rubio, Kasich, and others, who had ZERO chance of winning the nomination (let alone the general election), but remained in the race out of spite, pride, whatever. That split conservative and anti-Trump votes, thus handing Trump winner-take-all victories with his puny pluralities.

Liberals and moderates gave Trump the nomination, not conservatives.

  1. Progressive Baptist Convention? With Jimmy Carter as the featured fudd?!? Uh yeah crashing a stolen vehicle is the newest rage for gun thieves(unreal how many smash & grab thrives Chiraq-land lately…

  2. The gun store owner is either a complete moron, or he’s a skinflint. Regardless, he needs to learn that fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life son…

    Bollards old chap. Freakin’. Bollards..

Install yourself, late at night, paint ’em yellow and likely the mall owners (let alone cops) won’t ever take notice. And, a truck with a chain will flip a K-Rail/Jersey in about 20 seconds and pull it out of the way in another 20. I’m incredibly surprised the mall owner didn’t install bollards as a matter of course, especially as he is a gun shop. Call the mall management, take a slight bump in your rent, something. God knows I’d never want the visual abortion of K-Rails/Jerseys outside any business I was running.

    • Its california. Nobody cares what the front of the gun store looks like….. Usually the junkier the store front, the better the inventory. Hes not worried about sophisticated burglars. Hes worried about the “smash through the front doors with a chevy van” burglars which are all the rave out here on the left coast. Not to many burglar are bringing back hoes or forklifts to commit burglaries.

      • Richard, I’m still semi-familiar with Sacto. My point was that a K-Rail/Jersey Barrier takes all of 40 seconds (or less) to hook a chain to, flip, and then drag out of the way with any respectable pickup. A bollard is a much different animal.

I’m actually sorta surprised the bollards aren’t code around anything resembling an entrance by now. I oversaw the building of a hundred units in the 90s across NorCal – we had bollards in front, and they we’re restaurants.

        • Intelligent Pawn and Gun shops down here use a multi-layered defense.

Outside the doors, if no bollards, install massive, heavy concrete planters about a yard tall and plant decorative plants in them, or even better, being California, plant protected plants that are illegal to even touch in California and then DARE them to touch a protected plant. *snicker*

The doors: Attach the door pulls with nylon bolts so they will tear away easily if someone tries the vehicle and chain trick.

Windows: Replace the glass with Lexan (NOT Plexi, Plexi will *shatter*). Heavy burglary bars mounted INSIDE.

Some shops down here won’t put the handguns in safes at night, fearing they will get dinged up with all the handling, that’s a valid concern with collectible guns, some shops have custom padded trays built to fit inside their safes.

That there will eliminate most problems…

        • Nylon bolts on the door handles, brilliant!

I always assume that criminals are smarter than they often turn out to be, and would just punch through the glass, and wraparound the frame. Why would anyone wrap the doorhandles? In looking at vids for some of the ‘yank-n-grabs’ it would appear that many do, in fact, just wrap around the handle.

I’m embarrassed that I never thought of that.

  3. Progressive National Baptist Convention, what? National Baptist is strange enough considering just how independent those folks tend to be, Progressive Baptist?? Well they have to be a lot like Westboro Baptist is all I can figure.

  4. Oh yeah, one more thing.

KeyMod, because the name of the same shape, ”teardrop”, which is used on everything from pallet rack to the mirror bracket in the bathroom, isn’t tacticool. Or new sounding.

    • It’s all pretty much been done before… Hence, why I don’t get excited about the “newest” old sh*t.

  5. How messed up is it that a 2ft joint gets more of a pass than the semi-auto rifle it’s shaped after, these days?

    • Its not at all. The fact weed is still illegal is retarded, just like the fact NFA weapons are still NFA weapons

      • OOOh. There’s a thought! How about a single bill which repeals pot laws, NFA, and a few others all at the same time, can we see 535 votes in Congress?

        • It’s called a Constitutional Convention, but we’re too scared to exercise one & instead play it safe lurching toward civil war or despotism…

  6. 1) Good luck Joe!

    2) This guy may or may not be screwed. I’ve seen this case elsewhere and the details are sketchy at this point. 1st Degree Murder however is very likely a huge overcharging of him. Too bad the interwebz are already convicting him as a racist murderer.

    3) “Competitive joint rolling” is a thing. That’s news to me, as is “Professional joint rolling”. Portland sure is crazy. Kid’s got a Mercedes SUV, so I guess me makes a decent living.

    5) Time Kaine is a nutbag. While I don’t care too much about UBC’s, registration has no LE application and the reason to implement it is obvious. A new AWB is equally pointless.

  7. My response to requests for “reasonable gun control legislation” has been “tell me what you think is ‘reasonable’ and I will tell you why you are wrong.”

    • Or, “tell me what you think is unreasonable, and we’ll all wait while you struggle to think of an example.”

      • Serial killers think it’s “reasonable” to murder people and wear their head as a hat… I don’t care what quackpot anti’s think is “reasonable.”

  8. So after Trump’s remark that Obama is not the metaphorical, but literal, reason for Isis’ existence, I figure we should all just come to terms with having Hitlery squat down and piss all over our firearms freedoms…

    • Obama is the literal reason ISIS grew from two crazies hiding in a garage to a heavily armed organization in 24 countries which incites murders every day, worldwide. Trump’s statement is not much of a stretch. Meanwhile, Blago is still in prison for 14 years for suggesting he might sell Obama’s Senate seat, but Hillary sold 20% of the world’s uranium in exchange for 130 million dollars, and DOJ declines to investigate. Which one gets all the news coverage?

Target your outrage, beyond pure silliness.

    • Except his support is growing stronger, but, you know, defeatist gonna be defeated.

      So, carry on defeatist.

  9. “Sometimes you can’t shake your head enough.”
Followed by a video featuring 26 yr old Tony, one of the world’s premiere joint rollers…

  10. Gunstore in California takes steps to protect their store, and prevent their guns from being stolen and given to criminals, gets fined. Yeah California is all about gun safety.

  11. I’m not sue why this silly “Irish democracy” meme is repeated so often on TTAG. I live in Massachusetts, where the population is 22.8% Irish (more in southeast MA where I live) as are the politicians.

Massachusetts is the most Irish state in the Union by percentage of the population. Believe me, Massachusetts Irish politicians don’t have a clue about “democracy.” And in most parts of the Commonwealth, Mike the Cop is equally clueless.

    • Ralph, Irish Democracy is basically ignoring any law that you find stupid or unjust. Not that many politicians understand this concept. Stay strong behind the enemy lines. I have family in Chelmsford so I understand totally how you feel.

      • @Michael, I do know what it’s supposed to mean. The fact is that the Irish were very strong about resisting the English by any means necessary (so colonial Americans and colonial Irish had a lot in common), but once established the Irish became as undemocratic as they could possibly be.

        “Irish democracy” is an anachronism.

    • I think the term refers to a higher quality of Irish than the drunken loudmouths of Massachusetts.

  12. My favorite part of the new California gun laws is the part where they are demanding that people who have milled their own lowers and built their own guns serialize those guns. Because the types of people who make their own guns are going to be the first ones to line up to tell the government they have them.

  13. “Registration, universal background checks, and a new ‘assault weapons’ ban.”

You forgot, apparently, the evil NRA also opposes the Democrats’ completely reasonable desire for common sense gun confiscation, nationwide. Did Kaine not mention that?

  14. The guy in first picture looks like he’s realized he’s in some ultra weird reverse klan thing. The second is, well I didn’t know you could still get Big Bamboo papers and in today’s market that joint costs about as much as the rifle. The third seems surprising that the store can display that awful image or even advertise they sell that kind of thing in California. The cover, WTF why put something on to just cover, put the forward grip you’ve always wanted. And Tim looks like he’s explaining what he had to do to get his newest job. Pucker up Tim.

    • I remember in HS when the Cheech and Chong album of the same name was still only 9ish years old. One of the other kids in the dorm was asking if I had the album, which I did. When I said, “yeah”, a kid from PR was immediately “Dude, keep that down, you can’t let the Brother hear…” I’m “what do you mean, it’s a comedy album?” and he immediately fills me in on the fact that it’s an actual brand of papers, and that you fill the big ones with a bag of weed and smoke all day. I had originally thought the rolling paper in the album was a artisinal joke.

But yeah, they’ve been around for about 300 years, and seem to still be in business. And if you want to channel your inner Rasta, the jumbo-honkin-mind-erasing papers are available on Amazon.

  15. Anyone who says “I support the Second Amendment, but…” is just that. A butt. A butt who is too cowardly and dishonest to come right out and say “I don’t support the Second Amendment, and…”
