  1. 3 things:
    1. Good video.
    2. Congratulations Nick
    3. I have heard Bushmaster quality has fallen since becoming part of the Remington family. Any thoughts on that?

  2. Concerning the durability of the Arisaka rifles:

    http://dutchman.rebooty.com/temp/Ackley.pdf

PO Ackley did these tests in the 50’s, when he was at Trinidad State Junior College, setting up the gunsmithing program there.

The “wings” on the Arisaka’s rear sight are for helping the infantryman determine how much lead to put onto the sight picture for a plane flying across his line of fire.

    • The definitive work here is General Hatcher’s monograph (full text available online: https://archive.org/stream/Hatchers_Notebook/Hatchers_Notebook_djvu.txt ) regarding the various tests the Army performed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds after the war. See id. at p.198 et seq. Used with the cartridge it was designed for, the Type 99 action is insanely strong.

He also notes that some of the “problems” people had with war trophy Arisakas were from rechambering them to inappropriate cartridges.

  3. Thanks for the censorship of our honest criticism. This isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last, will it?

I’m glad you at least changed the origin text to something decent. I’m pre-empting Swarf by saying yes, I do expect better from this crew.
