As you may have noticed, we’ve fixed TTAG’s comments system. Your bon mots will now appear immediately—unless they fall afoul of common spam criteria (e.g. too many embedded links). To achieve this miracle we disabled WordPress’s Akismet spam filter and enabled Captcha. Some of you may not have noticed; the above box doesn’t appear for commentators that have an account on the TTAG blog. Some of you may. The Captcha system keeps spambots from posting stuff while allowing humans to get through. I know: it sucks to have to fill out the form every time you submit a comment. But this frees RF and Dan to do something other than releasing comments from an over-zealous spam filter and deliver unto you amazingly awesome content. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The c-100 looks like a cross between a browning high power and a 1911.
I’d be fine with a one-time member registration process if it simplifies things. Every site we visit and search we do, every comment we make, and all our emails are already recorded by government.
Puh-leez!
In south Texas, there is an entire industry devoted to breeding big whitetails, a $15,000 hunt is not uncommon. Several years ago a hunt was sold for $35,000.
The oilfield money that has recently started flowing down there doesn’t hurt things a bit!
ill make an acvount! i love this site! but i have yet to see this captcha box
Divorce lawyers and tax collecters are in the criminal elliment.
You think the guy with the beard bothers you? In 78-79 he was my Criminal Law and Advanced Con Law prof. Fresh from clerking for Associate Justice Thurgood Marshall and then practicing criminal law, he was very eager to fight for the implementation of the Civil Rights Act in tandem with the 1st, 4th, 6th, and 14th Amendments. It was precisely the support of Constitutional Amendment solidity and Judicial Review by the Supremes that enabled the construction of a more admirable “equal justice” regime. But that was under a relatively liberal court. With a more conservative court he has, predictably, given up on the stability value of Rights, perhaps figuring that if the nation has elected Obama twice, they’d be willing to pass “as policy,” and by 51%, his dream policies. The Founders knew better. Seidman used to. Absent the Constitution a slight shift in the public mood would give demagogues nation-destroying power.
F it. Just donated a couple of bucks to NYSRPA. I dont live there, but they’re gonna need all the help they can get.
A test with Safari…
Hope it works, cause I can’t always de scramble those flippin words.
The second amendment was a safeguard put in by folks who had just fought the British, and were coming together as a new nation. they didnt completely trust each other, there was disagreement amongst the colonies on a number of fronts (1st amendment protecting religious freedoms was a key point)
The second amendment provided for the states to mobilize effective militias to spank an out of control federal government and its standing army. End of the story.
Where your day to day life involved hunting to survive, and the possibility of hostile persons of many different persuasions, the right of self protection and the issue of hunting as a sport were not foremost in the founders mind.
Our politicians are so good at protecting and serving us now, they dont want to think about the true meaning of the Second Amendment of the Constitution. And they have already started attacks on the Freedom of Religion, and I suspect if they can muzzle the voice of dissent, they will continue to work on that too!
I have an account but I guess I’m not in the “cool kids club”. I have an impossible riddle of a captcha in front of me.
Reaching levels of 2004 complexity! 😀
Sure, I’d pay that much money if I had such spare money and passion to spend on such a hunt. The fee is no less high relatively than the price that gun featured earlier today was going for.
When it comes to capacity, ‘need’ is irrelevant to the pro-gun enthusiast. ‘Need’ is what anti-gunners and gun-grabbers expect us to justify, as if we owed them any explanation as to our intended use. Screw ‘need’. Like the ‘Nuge’ said, “anyone that brings out the word need, is a danger to our liberties.” So, do not struggle to answer the ‘need’ question, just respond with, “Is that a rhetorical question?” Then get the hell away from that self-righteous A-hole. The more capacity I have, the better. It sucks to reload! << Hey there's another comeback to the 'need' question. So there. Now you know how to respond to the indignant punk that asks such a stupid question.
I was wondering if this was going to be the result of the spam-filter meltdown. This is actually much better than I expected — some sites make you fill out a CAPTCHA every. damn. comment.
It’s amazing how much TTAG declined in value and interest for me over the last week as the comment black-hole problem worsened. More than half the value of this site is in the discussion threads following the article.
Glad to finally see this moving forward being and Illinois resident. The way the bill is now it seems like there is more places you can’t carry concealed then where you can. Some of the places are exactly where I would want to carry a firearm. At least they did put in a provision for school facilities to allow conceal carry on a case by case basis.
Thats the way it starts. In Wis. everybody put up the no weapons signs & I could barely carry anywhere, legally. My bank had a sign up & 2 weeks later they took it down. Was it the realization they were wrong? no, I’m guessing it was the fact that the law says they can post, however they can be sued for their actions. What will turn this all around is lawyers. I’ve mentioned black civil rights before & they only thing that turned this around was MONEY. Expensive multi million dollar civil rights suits. Hopefully we can overcome this bullshit too, Randy
Ugh. I knew the state that doesn’t allow carry at all would blow past NJ’s de facto no issue (may issue). Congrats to IL, but at the same time screw you (and I mean that in the nicest way possible) lol.
… and VERY IMPORTANTLY….
wait for it……
RECIPROCITY!!

test..w00t!
No sooner would the bill be passed than the money would end up in someone’s pocket while the programs the money is supposed to fund would be cut completely for lack of funds.
Did I make the cut?
The number of times the NRA is mentioned in this bill, and the degree to which they are acknowledged as the reference authority in firearms training, is just ridiculously gratifying.
Also, I’ve read the first half of the bill, and I’ve gotta say — it looks pretty damn reasonable. Even the school-zone provisions don’t suck: you can CCW on school property as long as you don’t enter any buildings. From what I’ve heard, that’s massively better than some other states where you can’t get out of your car while CCW.
I also very much like the “if you ban guns in your buildings STFU about what people do in the parking lot” rule. Somebody clearly gave good thought to recent court cases that resulted in bizarre inconsistencies in other states, where you could be prohibited from CCW at your job AND prohibited from putting your weapon into safe storage in your trunk while on company property.
I dream of the day the courts force CA to adopt a similar statute. With the elimination of open carry here in CA I believe that day is coming.
Hopefully captcha will filter out the bots, but I fear they’ll never go away.
Go AR.15 & Co. It appeared ny was going to continually change the law in hopes of being a moving target, Randy
Wow. SC has tougher standards
Little known fact, by using reCAPTCHA you are helping digitize books. So technically you could type anything in for the second (easier to read) word.

You almost took the words out of my mouth. I saw a show on “Nova Science Now” with Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and I think it’s way cool. 🙂
Now we just need to fix Massachusetts, NJ, NY, Hawaii, and Maryland. Forget anyone?
I feel special, too.
I was going to rage if I had to do the silly captcha thing.
(At least now I know what to call it.)
We need to work toward firearm ownership as a civil right. I don’t hear about blacks riding in the back of the bus anymore. Minority rights are not under attack & neither should the right to defend oneself. Well, the lawsuits, they are a commin, Randy
1) FOAD Ballerina Boy
2) National Reciprocity will happen. Barbara Boxer (ie Mini-DiFi) introduced a bill to require states to have minimum standards for carrying, etc, recently. I read it as an elimination of constiutional carry recognition/reciprocity outside of those 4 states in return for some national license, or at least some minimum standard to carry nationally. It was odd she would do this if they thought Barry had the real authority to issue an EO. But since the SCOTUS just pimp slapped him, this may be tacit recognition and her attempt to get something out of the inevitable.
…at a minimum…if they are going to allow this anti-liberty, anti-freedom point of view to be broadcast on their system…they owe an immediate opportunity for rebuttal… sad that CBS couldn’t even provide that point of view…

I’m hearing this thing about trashing the Constitution more and more. Apparently that dusty old document in the National Archives is just too structured for those who just want to exercise absolute, unfettered power and mob rule.
If anyone wants to update the Constitution, there is a built-in mechanism to do that. It’s called an “amendment”. There is a process to do that. It can be done.
If we simply toss the Constitution, or ignore it as some are already doing, then by what legitimate authority does the President continue to exercise power? By what authority does Congress continue to meet? By what authority does the Supreme Court rule?
This is really frightening. Peace, civilization, and order doesn’t just simply happen on it’s own. People in this country have been spoiled by the stability that the Constitution has provided. It has been something that all sides could agree on. It is the “Law” that “Rule of Law” is anchored on. Once it is gone we are left with the arbitrary “Rule of Man”. That is also known by such words as tyranny and dictatorship.
“matt says:

So he believes in small government even though he has worked for the government his entire life? Well if you truly believe that, how about you start making government smaller by quitting your job and finding work in the private sector?”
Matt, I will quit my job right after you and everyone in the numerous alphabet soup agencies quit theirs. Last time I checked, I work for a small, local police department whose handful of employees take pride in actually serving and caring for the community, not spending millions of dollars kicking in doors to burn down homes and kill kids because their fathers didn’t have enough U.S.-made compliance parts in their imported rifles.
I believe in a small, efficiently-run government where the people it serves have a say (the way most small-town local departments work). Not in anarchy, nor wasteful, excessive, over-reaching and dominating big government with more specialized agencies than the people can keep track of.
“I am not the problem.” – Indeed, brother, indeed.
Good going Mike, Randy
Let’s not forget that ammo sometimes chooses not to go bang or you have a malfunction that requires you to lose a round.
Why do we need detachable magazines over archaic fixed magazine designs? Maybe the mag fails. With one magazine only you better have another gun ready as you will not have time to whip out your multi tool.
Very sad how the brain damaged lady is being used as a prop/puppet by those who hate American Freedoms.
It’s pretty obvious that there isn’t a lot of there left up there.
