“Thank you for shaking this country out of its complacency. Gun violence cannot be normal. It cannot be accepted. It cannot be settled for. It cannot be a fact of life.” –  L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti in In Southern California visit, Parkland survivors push for gun control, voter registration [via vcstar.com]

  1. avatar No one of consequence says:

Thank you for getting your backers to show their true colors and intentions. It’s been … clarifying.

  2. avatar st381183 says:

Thank you for rallying the pro gun public into action when faced with the foolishness of a Hogg out of his sty

  3. avatar Andrew Lias says:

doesn’t LA have other things to worry about like human feces everywhere, homeless everywhere and needles everywhere?

    1. avatar McGowen says:

No that’s San Francisco, LA has the problems of Mexicans killing people and them spending tremendous amounts of money to facilitate it

      1. avatar PROUD chicano says:

The old blame the Mexicans always plays well to this crowd.

        1. avatar n64456 says:

As long as you are killing each other; then I’m fine with it… If you’re killing each other; then you’re NOT killing us…

        2. avatar California Richard says:

Its placing blame where blame is due. Homeless people in San Francisco. White Portlandians in Portland. White supremacists where they do what ever they do. Black gang bangers in Chicago. Islamic terrorists where ever they shoot and blow people up. Russians in Ukraine. Chinese in Tibet. Etc etc etc…. you really need to stop seeing the world through the soda straw of identity victimhood and read more posts here…. there really is a diversity of opinions and experiences here, and nobody is spared in taking criticism.

        3. avatar robert says:

It’s going to be hard to have soda straw vision when straws are banned.

        4. avatar paul says:

build the wall and fuck you spick

    2. avatar GS650G says:

LA has enough homeless to fill a small city.

      1. avatar Slicer87 says:

All the west coast cities do, even up in Canada. Doesn’t get cold enough to reduce their numbers like in northeast cities.

        1. avatar Anymouse says:

The police here call them “bumsicles” when they don’t think the PC crowd is listening. As in, “We had another bumsicle reported by the river this morning, and it took 2 hours for the coroner to show up.”

      2. avatar Jim says:

At this point, they’re filling a fairly large city too.

  4. avatar Marcus says:

As if there was any gun laws left to pass in the state of Commiefornia.

    1. avatar Pyratemime says:

They have yet to pass the mandatory confiscation of all firearms and outlawing ownership by private citizens.

That is their trajectory but they aren’t there… yet.

  5. avatar uncommon_sense says:

My personal opinion: the Parkland students reminded complacent firearms rights proponents to vote for firearms rights in the upcoming elections.

    1. avatar Dave in PTC says:

And to buy more guns. I bought the AR-10 I’ve been saving up for. Next month is a Savage Evolution!
      Thank you Parkland students!

      1. avatar Jeff K says:

I thought I had enough, bought three more so far this year.

    2. avatar John says:

That’s where they get the debt of gratitude. Thanks for firing up the gun rights people out of their complacency

  6. avatar Cruzo1981 says:

People still getting shot in California with all their gun laws…
    Whatever will they do next?
Keep its citizens from defending themselves like usual…

    1. avatar John says:

Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country and yet the most gun violence. That’s what gun laws do.

      1. avatar WhiteDevil says:

No, it doesn’t have the strictest gun laws. Those times have passed.

      2. avatar Jack says:

They can easily and legally get their guns in nearby Indiana, and Chicago authorities can do nothing about it.

        1. avatar Buck Cassidy says:

If you are a legal resident of the State of Indiana, are not legally forbidden from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition, then yes, you can purchase firearms. But NO one without a state issued ID (in this case, Indiana residents) can purchase a firearm. An Illinois state issued driver’s license WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED in any other state but Illinois to purchase handguns.

    2. avatar California Richard says:

They really should come out here and protest…. Florida averages a mesely ~2500 “gun deaths” per year and California hovers around a ghastly 3300. If it wasn’t for California’s super lax gun laws, we wouldn’t be suffering from this epidemic. Those Parkland kids need to come to California and demand that our politicians restructure our gun laws to mirror Florida’s gun laws!!!…. we would save lives in California by following Florida’s lead!!! Then they should go to New York and New Jersey and demand the same there too!!!

      1. avatar David Keith says:

Your figures include suicide, self protection, police shootings and probably several hundred you made up.

  7. avatar HP says:

I had been an avid gun rights supporter, but now I’m “woke”. What it took was a group of sneering, petulant teenagers who are funded by totalitarians to tell me that I’m a brutal, murderous, bloodthirsty butcher that is beholden to the Russians and the gun lobby. I mean, I had no idea. It was the condescending arrogance that really changed my mind. No doubt, millions of second amendment activists feel the same way. I’ve already melted my guns down for scrap, and used the profits to buy a pink hat.

    1. avatar Ropy saliva says:

      Well done, sir. Nicely written.

    2. avatar California Richard says:

      You win the interwebz today.

  8. avatar Steve says:

They (Parkland survivors and Hogg) have not done a damn thing to make schools safer. With rings in their noses they let the LEFT use them for anything but school safety. What a waste……………………..

    1. avatar John says:

They are used like an old handbag…Just too stupid to know it

      1. avatar Hugh says:

The Parkland students are indeed stupid since they have shown little, if any, common sense or understanding concerning guns(which are not weapons until used as one no more than a hammer is a weapon) and a person’s right to self protection. However, they are not necessarily ignorant for as President Ronald Reagan once said when defining democrats, “they know a lot, it’s just that what they know is wrong”!

  9. avatar Eric O says:

there was a time, not very long ago in the U.S. where people trying to exercise their rights are told they needed to pay a tax, ask permission, and take tests to do so. The only appropriate answer to Jim Crow is:

    Go ef yourself.

  10. avatar Mmmtacos says:

Hey Mr. Mayor, terrorism is just part and parcel of living in a big city. Don’t you know anything?

  11. avatar GS650G says:

Garcetti needs to learn spanish if he wants his constituents to agree with him.

  12. avatar former water walker says:

I’ve been “woke” for years. Hoggboy & Co. have nothing to do with it. Guns got me voting again and influencing others. Whatever…

  13. avatar kap says:

What do you expect from an Anti-American Twisted Sister living and working the Left coast, (land of the whispering bush)they love anything that is Illegal Anti-religious, Anti-common sense, personally it’s time for push back! May the bird of Paradise fly over and dump a load in his mouth!

  14. avatar Rusty Chains says:

Hogg isn’t the sharpest tool in the neo-communist toolkit, but he does manage to be a tool. On the bright side, it now looks like their blue wave has as much chance as a Hogg flying without a jet.

  15. avatar Jay in Florida says:

We don’t owe those kids a thing. Thanks to them though for being full of crap. I have bought 4 handguns since they started making noises. Just my way to help my end of the cause.

    1. avatar Scoutino says:

4 handguns? You have to get your shit together man. And get some rifles too!

  16. avatar Ogre says:

Basically, what the article is saying is “Oh, look at those ADORABLE li’l ol’ anti-gun SJWs! Ain’t they cute and righteous?” in so many words.

  17. avatar Timothy says:

What the Left has yet to figure out is the wave of anti gun, anti NRA, anti Republican outrage crests and falls rapidly. But the pro gun waves build slowly.

By the time state legislatures start moving gun control bills out of committee the bulk of public attention has already moved on. At this point the pro gun side is looking at infringements and it’s their turn to get geared up in outrage. Righteous outrage that will last through the election cycle.

  18. avatar Ralph says:

We do owe a debt of gratitude to the Parkland Pukes. They remind us every day of why we despise the public education system, the communists who run it and the brainless little turds they produce.

    1. avatar Indiana Tom says:

      Right on!

  19. avatar Paul says:

Oh, I must be in the wrong place for clicking on an article title and expecting and actual article or writing.

  20. avatar Ray says:

They reminded me that I needed to buy a new pistol and up my NRA membership level.

  21. avatar Mark Kelly's Diapered Drooling Ventriloquist's Dummy says:

“We Owe the Parkland Puppets Nothing But A Boot In The Ass”

  22. avatar Justin Case says:

The only thing I can see that Hogg & his pals have actually achieved is to force the state of Florida to enact laws which disarm Hogg and his pals… at least until they turn 21. They’ve also banned backpacks that aren’t see-thru and created a prison like feel to their school with more rules etc. etc. Hope they’re happy with all that. They caused it.

  23. avatar Indiana Tom says:

Ah, nice to see the transgender thingamabob again. Such a wonderful product of our brave new public indoctrination system.

  24. avatar Unrepentant Libertarian says:

Nice virtue signaling by the leftists. Notice that they are only worried about “gun violence” and not violence in it self? They follow Satin by wanting to disallowing good people from defending themselves while doing nothing to halt or punish the bad people from harming others.

  25. avatar Mikial says:

While I can understand the kid’s intentions, they are clueless and their nonsense approach to preventing violent attacks has galvanized the Second Amendment rights movement. We will not stand by and be blamed for the actions of criminals, crazies and terrorists. Too bad the kids don’t understand that, but they are the product of the media/Tumblr age and never really get any accurate information or guidance.

  26. avatar Gun Owning American says:

Thanks for them waking more pro gunners up to what is really going on.

  27. avatar Frank says:

They are nothing but a basket of Asswipes scumbags.

  28. avatar Alan says:

Think these ongoing demonstrations might actually awaken gun owners to the threats they face?

  29. avatar Guy says:

As far as I am concerened they are not residents of CA and are tampering with Voter rights decisions.

  30. avatar RedRed says:

Because we all know kids are so mature, they can think everything through and understand the Second Amendment too, but only as the Socialists teach it!

  31. avatar Old Fur Trapper says:

Those kids were used and manipulated into believing it was the gun at fault. Recent events show Cruz was denied mental health care by the school, they lied, covered it up. blamed Cruz for it, and the sheriff department lied about their response, disregard of warnings along with the FBI failure. The school created the shooter! He would have killed with pipe bombs, a car, knives or anything else he could get. And to make the school safer now?
The dumbass school board turned down purchasing metal detectors in favor of building a weight room!
