Two Cops Wounded, Another Hit in His Holster in Reno, Texas Shooting

Police officers from three agencies approached a home in Reno, Texas northwest of Fort Worth last night after a 911 call from a woman reporting a her son had a gun and was threatening to shoot people. The man opened fire on the officers, wounding two of them and hitting a third in his holster.

One dead body was found inside the home, but it isn’t yet clear whether that is the shooter or some other occupant.

From the Associated Press:

Two law enforcement officers were shot and a third was nearly wounded when a suspect accused of threatening others opened fire on them in Texas and barricaded himself in a home, authorities said.

The shooting happened when officers responded to the home Thursday night in Parker County, about 22 miles (35 kilometers) northwest of Fort Worth, Reno Police Chief Tony Simmons said in an emailed statement.

Early Friday, flames could be seen rising from the home where the suspect had barricaded himself, the Star-Telegram reported. The blaze was extinguished about 1:30 a.m., but the status of the shooter wasn’t immediately known.

A Reno officer was shot in the arm and a Parker County deputy was also wounded, Simmons said. The officer’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, but the extent of the deputy’s injuries were unknown. The deputy was flown to a hospital in Fort Worth for treatment.

A bullet struck a second Reno officer’s stun gun holster, preventing him from being shot, Simmons said.

Authorities had responded to the home after a caller said her son had a gun and was making threats, Simmons said.

Its almost elections again. I’ll call it now. Another school shooting will occur soon…

    1. avatar BOBO says:

yep…but still strange with all the kids locked up in homes of responsible gun owners…..not one gun attacked a bunch of students?

its as if——-having an undefended target rich environment we called ‘schools’ called to the crazies….shoot here its easy?

You beat me to it, though I would expand that to be any shooting that will make Trump/GOP/POTG look bad. If Trump’s successful in badgering the NEA to go along with reopening schools, then a MSE on a campus will be a 2-for-1 deal and (1) be another reason for the Left to rail against guns and (2) look Trump look bad for sending our children to a “war zone”. Cue the timeline:

      September: schools reopen
      October: MSE at several locations
November: election time + the inevitable accusations of “stealing the election” no matter who wins
      December: riots, riots, riots

        Oops.

        “…(2) make Trump look bad…”

        1. avatar enuf says:

Trump needs no help making himself look bad. Certainly no imaginary conspiracies to do so.

        2. avatar The Crimson Pirate says:

          Or real conspiracies.

If the left would have shut the hell up for the last 4 years Trump probably would have gotten himself unelected in 2020. Instead they went full court press demonstrating why everyone who opposes communism and the total destruction of civilization HAS to vote for Trump regardless of his issues.

He may be the lesser of two evils, but he is way lesser and the other evil is much more evil.

        What is an, “MSE”?

Friendly suggestion for important life skill: do not use acronyms unless you are absolutely certain that every single message recipient will know what that acronym means. Anything else is ineffective communication.

          Mass Shooter Event

Thank you for the advice. However, please know that I simply cannot be held responsible for lack of comprehension by another individual. I use acronyms that I believe are commonly understood by POTG and/or TTAG commenters, and those which I’ve seen used multiple times by others here. Hence, I operate under the belief that the majority will understand what I’m attempting to communicate.

It is unreasonable to assume that “every single message recipient” to visit this site will be able to fully understand any comment posted here, written by anyone. Rest assured that I wordcraft my posts by choosing acronyms I assume will be generally understood by those I’m expecting will read them.

Aside from that, I claim my right to express myself as I wish, and I hope you’re on board. 1st Amendment, yo. 🙂

        2. avatar I Haz A Question says:

To be fair to you, though, now that I think of it, the acronym has been evolving in LE trainings to more commonly be ASE (Active Shooter Event). So perhaps I’ll go with the flow and begin using that instead.

        3. avatar Miner49er says:

There is still a distinction between a mass shooting event, 4 or more victims, and an active shooter event, which only requires an active shooter.

In other words, a mass shooting event requires an active shooter but an active shooter event is not necessarily a mass shooting event.

        4. avatar The Crimson Pirate says:

So do you think the next MSE, or ASE will involve an MSR such as an AR or AK, and do you think LEO will step in and stop it or an SRE will be there first?

I detest the term active shooter, much like I detest the term “tornado on the ground”. If someone’s shooting, yep, they’re active, but all that’s needed is it’s a shooter event. Same with the tornado example. If it’s on the ground it’s a tornado, if it’s NOT on the ground, it’s a funnel cloud. Just a couple of pet peeves of mine.

Newsflash from BLM, another innocent civilian’s injured when police were called.

You mean the sworn government agents actually did something? They did not stand by, observing diverse crimes as it seems to be the trend lately nationwide? I am amazed, this must have been in some foreign country I just can’t believe it.

There are places in this country where LEO do their job, unlike the “progressive” controlled cities. I started to say large cities but it may well be a small town with a large university that has gone socialist.

  5. avatar enuf says:

Domestic calls are scary shit. Just hope when they figure out who the badly burned body was that it turns out to be the shooter, not some family member.

One officer was airlifted to a higher level hospital, not a good sign. Hope he pulls through.
