“Texans can help prevent mass shootings by carrying concealed guns, Attorney General Ken Paxton said Sunday, hours after 26 people were killed in a church in Sutherland Springs,” mercurynews.com reports. “This is going to happen again. All I can say is in Texas at least we have the opportunity to have conceal carry. And so — there’s always the opportunity that gunman will be taken out before he has the opportunity to kill very many people.’” Funny that Mr. Paxton didn’t mention . . .

open carry as a potential deterrent, especially as Texas recently made permitted open carry legal. But that’s a minor quibble.

And just as the Luby’s mass shooting led Texas to repeal its onerous concealed carry laws, I suspect the Sutherland Church shooting will lead to Constitutional carry. We shall see.

Meanwhile, calls for more gun control in Texas will certainly fall on deaf ears. Especially as an armed bystander apprehended the killer and, it is said, helped prevent further loss of life.

    • The blood of patriots, my friend…
Let us do what we can to see that their deaths were not in vain – as the bigots who wish us harm have wasted no time telling us we need to have our civil rights restricted because of this.

      • “The blood of patriots, my friend…”

We, sort of. More like collateral damage.

(I’ll assume) You and I make our choices and pick our battles (figuratively and literally). These folks were simply gunned down. In church.

        • You’re not wrong.
But their deaths WILL be used against us – so as far as the bigots were concerned, they were not at all collateral – just timely and useful.

    • I would rather he became a member of Congress. He could institute more change for the better there. I don’t understand why people have this notion that POTUS is the most powerful man on Earth. POTUS is not that powerful, that is how our government was built by design.

  1. get that man a job at thetruthaboutguns.com as an opinion writer to replace the profoundly developmentally disabled johannes paulsen

    this guy gets it

  2. I do believe that Constitutional carry should be recognized as the law of the entire country, and why not? The Constitution and all of the other amendments already are and are not seen as anything but. We do not pay for the rights recognized elsewhere in the Constitution-how is it that the government can decide that we pay for our right to exercise the 2nd amendment?

  3. “Texas Attorney General Paxton: More Guns, Less Death”

Not just “more guns”, they have to be present, much akin to “boots on the ground”…

  4. Was that schmuck masturbating during the interview while hoping that AG Paxton would say that government has to “do something” just as he climaxed? Seriously. He kept tossing (accidental British joke) out lead ins for “guns are present and bad and stuff” and the AG defected all of them!

“The guy in NY had a paintball gun.” So what? “The gun laws in NJ are tough.” So what?. “What can people do?” Tool up and be vigilant!
