New York City is a gun control utopia, where benevolent politicians including Gotham’s mayor are hell-bent on making it as difficult as possible for guns to be a part of a free society. Criminals, though, seem to be running rampant.

New York’s gun control is making New York City a living hell, and not just for gun owners. It’s turning the city’s streets into murder zones where innocent children cannot even walk down the street with their parents. That’s because New York’s politicians continue to assign blame to the gun – instead of the criminal illegally wielding it. They focus on the object, not the criminal conduct.

Just this past weekend, New York City experienced 23 criminal shootings, two of which resulted in deaths. Among those wounded was a six-year-old boy, his mother and three others.

New York City’s Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio called it a “peaceful weekend.”

His audacious statement came on the heels of the New York Police Commissioner Dermot Shea’s announcement the city topped a 25-year high of gun-related arrests. Between August 31 and Sept. 6, 160 arrests were made in that one week alone. Commissioner Shea explained that 436 arrests were made in a 28-day period ending Sept. 6, up 116 from the 320 arrests made for the same time period last year.

This is New York gun control. The inmates aren’t running the asylum. They’re running the city.

There’s No Pill for that Ill

Mayor de Blasio is the proof. He has been more interested in publicity photo ops painting streets than providing leadership and safety for his fellow citizens.

Mayor de Blasio claims that criminal violence will be cured with a coronavirus vaccine. Seriously?

“We are dealing with a challenge we’ve never seen in the city,” he said in response to a reporter’s question about ongoing crime. “It is, thank God, temporary … there will be a vaccine, there will be a turnaround.” Tell that to the thousands of residents fleeing Gotham for safer communities.

Never mind New Yorkers have endured more than three months of unrelenting violence where an innocent man was gunned down while walking his daughter across the street. After that crime, Mayor de Blasio said it was the fault of the coronavirus, subsequent lockdowns, economic hardships and increasingly warmer temperatures.

“This is directly related to coronavirus,” Mayor de Blasio said. “This is a very serious situation. As we’re getting into warmer and warmer weather, we’re feeling the effects of people being cooped up for months, the economy hasn’t restarted – we have a real problem here.”

No Cops, No Rights

Mayor de Blasio doesn’t understand he has a duty to stop the criminal violence ravaging the city and its residents. Instead, he scapegoats. He shifts blame. He ignores what everyone else can see. Even New York’s Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo blasted him for failing to contain crime as it spiraled out of control.

“I believe the mayor underestimates the scope of the problem. I believe he underestimates the duration of the problem, and I don’t think they’ve used enough police to address the situation,” Gov. Cuomo said. “You have 38,000 police officers. Deploy them. Give them support. On the video tape, to me, you see a lot of looting, and not enough police presence.”

Mayor de Blasio demurred. He even turned away an offer of help from the National Guard.

Instead, in July, Mayor de Blasio and the New York City Council shifted $1 billion from NYPD’s budget. A former NYC Police Commissioner said the move “cut the heart and soul out of the NYPD.”

The move, though, is disheartening to New Yorkers who trusted Mayor de Blasio years before when he said New Yorkers don’t need guns to keep themselves safe. They could rely on police.

“Everyone deserves to be safe,” Mayor de Blasio told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “The answer is not for everyone to have a firearm – any more than the answer is not for every teacher to have a firearm.”

Instead of police, security and rights, New Yorkers in Mayor de Blasio’s gun control utopia have only one thing – criminals freely running the streets.

      • From what I hear, Hollywood and the entire LA music industry is moving to Nashville.

        See ya, Tennessee.

Progressives kill every host they infect. They start and complete the process in the cities.

        • BLAMMO!!, So right. Progressives are a cancer on society. Only way to eliminate cancer is very decisive, aggressive procedures. There is no negotiation, compromise with cancer……it doesn’t listen, care. It only does what cancer does……consume the host to demise. Until those procedures are successfully implemented, cancer will continue to erode its host until it kills the host. American patriots have a gravest decision to make to save the America we were given by our Founding Fathers. America has been over run as promised for decades. We have ignored the diagnosis and the necessary treatments. Decision deadline: November 3, 2020. Time is running out to save the host. Tick….tick….tick…..time….

    • And if I read correctly, back when FDR was governor of New York, the legislature, amazing though it might be, had voted to repeal The Sullivan Law. Governor Roosevelt vetoed the legislatures action. His veto was not overridden, and Tim Sullivan’s legislative virtuosity plagues residents of New York State to this day. Of course, the election and re-election of Governor Cuomo, and others of his ilk are less than helpful. Then there are cute little operational scams like the Pistol License Bureau of the NYPD, which is absolutely fascinating all by itself.

Should anyone be interested, I grew up and lived in NYC for a number of years, removing myself from it’s coils in 1967. Guess why.

  1. this is the going thing for a demo-nuts answer,NEVER TAKE THE BLAME FOR ANYTHING ,it is always somebody else that is not doing their job.between the media and the politicians they are spreading more manure than mccormick-deering and John Deere combined. fertilizer is good on the fields but not in the media..REMOVE THESE FOOLS BEFORE THEY DESTROY THE ENTIRE STATE.

  2. “Bill de Blasio’s Gun Control Utopia Has Become a Living Hell for New York City Residents”

As are all Marxist Leftard shitholes,to be avoided like the Black Plague.

  3. The animals that reside in N. Y. Voted the mayor & governor into office, so let them reap the consequences of their brilliant leaders….
    ….”””” FREE KYLE “”””….

    • We need to make them stay the hell there and don’t let them move out, then maybe they would fix the problem instead of spreading it.

  4. This is what Wikipedia says about the Sullivan Act, NY States first gun control act.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sullivan_Act

Here’s the truth from the NY Post:

    https://nypost.com/2012/01/16/the-strange-birth-of-nys-gun-laws/

Surprisingly, “The father of New York gun control was Democratic city pol “Big Tim “Sullivan — a state senator and Tammany Hall crook, a criminal overseer of the gangs of New York.”

He was a crook who disarmed his enemies because he controlled the permits.

Several years ago Wikipedia had an article similar to the NY Posts article, it disappeared and was replaced by CRAP!

Don’t trust Wikipedia ever again, look for another source.

When in NY State I got a pistol permit. There are some state laws and a number of court cases, I purchased the standard book about NY gun laws, it commended Sullivan for bringing peace to all New Yorkers. YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP! Democrats in Wikipedia rewriting history……sound familiar?

  5. He really said there’s going to be a vaccine for crime?
I mean, there is of course. DeBlasio just refuses to let anyone administer it.

  6. This kind of thing keeps up and everyone who’s left in NYC is gonna go Notorious BIG style.

“I used to have the tre’ deuce/
And the deuce deuce in my bubble-goose/
Now I got the mac in my knapsack…”

  7. It’s not Gun Violence, Stupid. It’s Defective Citizen Violence.

“Killing is a matter of will, not weapons.
You cannot control the act itself
by passing laws about the means employed.” The late Col Jeff Cooper, handgun expert and founder of Gunsite Academy, stated in1958. Nothing has changed since 1958….or for that matter since Cain killed Abel with an assault rock.

A politician with a law never stops a bad guy with a gun.
He only controls the good guys which is his true agenda.
The bad guys are merely the politician’s Useful Idiots to further his agendas.

    ,

  8. Let’s not pretend Rudy G wasn’t selling the same gun control bs. The tristate area has been pro gun control regardless of party going back as far as I can remember. Yeah to hell with slick willy part 2 but ignoring how we got here doesn’t help.

  9. I have yet to meet anyone, New Yorker or otherwise who has anything nice to say about de Blasio. Why is it that he has not been recalled by the voters?

  10. My BFF and law school classmate lives in Manhattan. After 9/11, when his office was in one of the Towers, he told me that he’d rather die in NY than live anywhere else. Now he says that NYC has become a sh!th0le and he can’t wait to get out.

    • It’s a larger and less violent incarnation of Portland but will take longer and make more noise to either get better or die.

  11. I’m a white male & have lived mainly in midtown Manhattan for 50 years. My city is not ‘a hell’ of any sort, it’s the most civil, civilized spot in the USA. I wish handguns were more easily available because I’m used to having them from my periods of living in a free state. But they’re not as needed here otherwise. I’d be much more uncomfortable without a weapon outside NY, where I’m more likely to meet the poorly educated, mentally ill armed white types who eat up the paranoid lie of articles like this.

    • Rich T:

Sing that song to people who don’t know better. I grew up in NYC, lived there for a number of years, shook the dust of the place from my shoes in 1967, after terrifying at the Dog and Pony Show that were the City Council Hearings that gave birth to NYC’s Long Gun Legislation. Do a little research, not much, a little should suffice. By the way, the original fee was $5.00, and covered as many long guns, aka rifles and shotguns as were being registered. What are the fees these days?

  12. It’s Trump’s fault.
Gun Prohibition Bills not working for crime sprees; it’s the fault of the economy, summer heat, and people stuck at home.
Since the Corona Virus pandemic created these issues, it is the Corona Virus fault.
Trump created the pandemic so therfore it is Trump’s fault. (See first sentence)

    • UH….Americans in flyover country are subject to same factors you note….without the resulting crime, violence, economic, social failures of New York and all other Demorat run jurisdictions. The operative variable is Demorat policies…..cancer on America. See other comments within.

  13. New York City’s Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio called it a “peaceful weekend.” It probably was behind his GATED residence with the ARMED bodyguards. ALL he cares about is POWER, just like the other “progressives” (aka. socialists, communists, liberals, BLM, Antifa, etc.).

  14. The voters of NYC elected the mayor. Presumably, they got what they wanted. As to why they wanted it, who knows. My crystal ball has gone foggy.

  15. I’ve told this story before, but it bears repeating. When I lived on Long Island, I went to a gun shop with a friend who had complied with all the BS it takes to get a pistol permit in N.Y. He was shopping for a new gun, and looking in the display case, saw what struck his fancy. He asked the old hag behind the counter if he could see ‘that gun’. In a very irascible tone, the answer was; ‘can I see your license’. She was not asking for his drivers license. Upon moving to Florida in 1987, I went to a local gun shop, and asked to see a 9mm auto pistol; my only requirement was that it would fit well in my hand. The clerk promptly took about a half dozen pistols out, laid them on the counter, and said, I’ll be right back. Those two experiences have been etched in my brain.

  16. Never mind bozo de Bozeeo it’s the dumbfuks voting for democRats. Everyone has to get ready today to cancel their fumbfuk votes in November. Lock and Load.

    TRUMP/PENCE 2020.

  17. I went to NYC for a day as a chapparone with my kids class trip there. Of course I would not go there today and may never go back. We had a great time and I’m glad we saw it before it all fell apart.

There is no putting it back together now. This is terminal. By the time they get shithead out of the mayor’s office it will be too late and they will probably end up with someone worse.

Only loss of tax dollars can stem the for but even that isn’t enough.

    • If the “Other DUF’er” remains in office there won’t be any substantive changes. Lived there for 20 years and the trajectory was ALWAYS DOWNHILL… That was under Mario Cuomo…. who was finally deposed the year I left.
