“It’s a one-of-a-kind case,” NRA attorney Sarah Rogers said in court Thursday. “We have real constitutional claims here.”

She also argued on technical grounds that Albany, not New York City, was the proper venue for the case based on where the organization’s office was incorporated.

“The NRA is fighting for its very existence,” she said. “To the extent that there’s any ambiguity, why not let us fight for our existence in the place we chose?”

But Jonathan Conley, a lawyer for the AG’s office, said the court should be allowed to proceed in state court in Manhattan, and the judge agreed.

“The state of New York and this court have a vital interest in retaining this state enforcement action,” Conley said. “The complaint is premised entirely on New York law. … This action implicated public interests and questions of state law that are of critical importance to this state and this court.”

“Today’s order reaffirms what we’ve known all along: the NRA does not get to dictate if and where they will answer for their actions,” James said in a statement. “We thank the court for allowing our case to move forward and look forward to holding the NRA accountable.”

  1. Letitia James is a piece of sh!t, she should have her head handed to her on a platter. That may happen before too long depending on how we go…

    • And today we have JB, doing his best to assist the anti-gun activists by indelibly linking gun ownership and political assassination.

JB, you may want to make sure your piggy bank is full for your legal defense fund before you take action, it seems it may be difficult to raise money after you commit an act of insurrection:

“The Texas-based real estate agent who traveled to the January 6 Capitol riots in a private plane was kicked off PayPal Thursday evening after attempting to solicit donations for business losses.

Jenna Ryan, who was arrested last week, asked her Twitter followers for help Thursday afternoon, sharing a link to a PayPal account where supporters could offer a donation. In a tweet, Ryan said, “I am accepting donations to pay legal fees and losses due to my arrest and charges by the FBI” and later claimed she had raised $1,000.

By Thursday evening, PayPal had closed the account, according to Kim Eichorn, a PayPal spokesperson.“

That’s right, turns out the wealthy elites are actually Trump supporters, riding in private jets to commit your insurrection is the height of entitlement.

With all her money, you would think she would buy one of those pardons from Trump, Rudy is ready to make a deal!

All you working folks need to donate right away so this poor woman can keep her Gulfstream fueled up for her next act of sedition.

Forget about your $2000 stimulus check, the Trump supporters need that money for their private jets.

How do you know it was her plane? She could have hired a charter plane, in order to avoid tyrannical mask worshiping airlines.

      • You can rent a Cessna 182 for $180 per hour. It seats 4, so if you have another 3 people splitting the cost, it isn’t very expensive.

      • minor 49 IQ…A democRat like you should know what the biden crime family has done for years rivals some NRA brass spending spree. In fact democRat congressman william jefferson is currently doing time for far, far less than what joe has done. Furthermore bill clintoon pardoned a laundry list of some real dirtbags which says your cheap shot at POTUS DJT confirms you are a stupid clown who sees only what you want to see. Now gfy.

  2. They should distance themselves fro Wayne L and anybody else who’s been profiteering. Keep the state busy suing several different people.

  3. I really don’t want the NRA to fail. I really don’t. But the bloated, stinking, money-laundering carcass that calls itself the NRA today needs to go. I hope all the scum washes away and a new organization can be born anew, and Negotiating Rights Away will no longer be an apropos name. Almost 100 years of failing the citizenry, culminating in the Stain of Wayne. Maybe this will work out well, who knows?

        • An unbelievable mountain of effort went in to organizing the NRA from the ground up through membership. They are a well oiled machine. I know there is a lot of complaints regarding Wayne and cronies never, ever relinquishing their positions, and making crappy deals with friends, but to dissolve the NRA completely (Letitia’s goal) is not the way to go in my opinion.

        • anonymous, I really don’t want them dissolved either. I’m a fully paid Life Member, I just want them to be the best they can be. If that’s your strategy listed in your other post, great. If not, the current administration is untenable. Something has to change.

  4. NRA should move to Texas, and then ignore NY state and Letitia James. Whatever the court decides – NRA just ignores it. James’ lawsuit against the NRA isn’t against anyone specifically, but the organization itself. they have stated their goal is to “dissolve the NRA.” And if the NRA has already moved out of state, it is outside their jurisdiction to dissolve organizations in other states. Seems to me, their goal is simply endless litigation.

    • The NRA is now getting some Texas Sunshine. People who habitually get their panties in a wad and trample over each other to bash Wayne et al almost never criticize those who are content with knocking doors down to confiscate firearms. In other words stfu…There are bigger fish to fry.

  5. Being poor and never having nothing sure beats being rich and having nothing. Wayne ain’t gonna like buying from the thrift shop.I wonder if he’s applied for food stamps? Well at least he’s not going to miss buying gunms or ammo.

  6. Getting rid of Wayne LaPayMe! is far more critical than stupid legal battles over where this trial will be held. As long as the corrupt sycophants of Wayne on the NRA Board keep him in power, the root of all rot remains. Wo’t matter if NRA wins the legal case if Wayne remains, the NRA will still be a disaster.

  7. I want the NRA to survive.

I want Wayne LaPierre drawn and quartered.

Did you see the part where even if fired, he has a secret contract with the NRA to pay his salary for LIFE?

    • “Did you see the part where even if fired, he has a secret contract with the NRA to pay his salary for LIFE?”

The contract wasn’t/isn’t secret. The information has been public for the last five or so years. And….it is not uncommon for big name leaders to have what is properly termed a “golden parachute”. The contract not only isn’t secret, it isn’t a “poison pill”.

Gotta put these things into perspective. “Golden Parachutes” are often merely annuities purchased by an organization. It is common to read that so-and-so got a giant “pay-out” for leaving some organization. Most times these are not cash payments, but structured payments.

There was one high profile CEO who became a high-up government official. That CEO’s corporation was being sued for something or other, in an amount that could possibly bankrupt the corporation. When asked if he was worried about the security of his “Golden Parachute” he replied that he had no worries because it was all in an annuity for which his former company was not responsible. Interestingly, the interview ended right there. Always wondered if the interview was terminated because the reporter for the big name business journal didn’t want to further expose the gambit.
