As Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner challenges a drive to remove him from office, he’s saying his detractors have his record all wrong.

In a statement attacking what Krasner called the “GOP’s Big Impeachment Lies,” he said his conviction rates for “trial-ready” gun homicides and nonfatal shootings were strong: 83% for fatal shootings and 79% for nonfatal.

Note the caveat “trial-ready.” Krasner’s analysis measured only those cases that survived a preliminary hearing in Philadelphia’s lower Municipal Court and advanced for a trial in Common Pleas Court. Once the many cases dismissed earlier by judges or withdrawn by prosecutors are taken into account, Krasner’s gun-murder conviction rate falls to 74% this year and 50% for nonfatal shootings.

And when all outcomes are counted, Krasner’s overall conviction rate this year for violent crime is just 33%. …

The House committee, in its report, also zeroed in on gun-possession cases. The documents it made public included a study from the Delaware Valley Intelligence Center, an interagency facility funded by the federal government and the city to bring together law enforcement officials. The committee also cited a June study of gun cases by the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing. The studies, as well as an Inquirer analysis last year, all found that conviction rates declining since Krasner took office.

The Intelligence Center report was critical of the trend.

“This implies that, even when criminals are caught with a gun, they are swiftly finding out they may not receive as significant a consequence as they had historically,” the study said. “Notably, the likelihood of being arrested is low to begin with. This means that criminals know that their likelihood of getting caught with a gun is slim and, even if they get caught, they feel that they can leave without severe (or any) consequences.”

  1. Well, this is easy enough…just ask the victims. Who cares at that point what the GOP or any Washington politician thinks? It wouldn’t even matter what the media talking heads think.

  2. Communists are going to communist. Sow panic and chaos by letting off hard core criminals, the population screams for solutions, then Big Daddy (or Mommy or Tr***y) Communist cracks down on crime while simultaneously seizing power. In the end, the criminals that served as the useful id***s are lined up against the wall, the communists are entrenched in power, and the rest of the population enslaved.

    Worked for Lenin.

  3. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is the fulfillment of his constituent’s desires.
Perhaps the Pennsylvania State House should just let Philadelphia evolve to what it desires?

    • It wasn’t that long ago that Washington D.C. was the murder capital and Detroit came in second. Since those days Chicago, New Orleans, St Louis, Kansas City, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Memphis, and Louisville have all competed for the top honors. Things AREN’T getting any better for victims of violence. Thank you to all of the unifying politicians of the leftist persuasion, your goals are being achieved.

  4. When the goal is to sell Gun Control to useful idiots Gun Control democRats need crime. And taking criminals permently off the streets takes their salesmen off the streets. Sneaky, sleazy, finger pointing Gun Control democRats cannot have that.

    • Still waiting on the full hearing from the first appellate level. 2nd circuit after that, this was just judicial dick measuring at our expense.

        • I expect we will get our previous carry rights back and more when Suddaby makes his final ruling. The 2nd may reverse it or leave it alone fearing the Supreme Court’s attention of their Bruin decision being ignored. Lot of ways it can go after the first ruling. Till then back to some streets and church.

  5. Governor DeSantis in Florida was successful at removing Sheriff Israel in Broward County Florida. Hopefully the people in Pennsylvania will be successful at removing this soros-funded district attorney. Maybe the government’s in the other states can take a hint, and go after these DA’s who are failing in their responsibilities.
