Whether it’s tea and scones at Buckingham Palace or tactical training at Quantico, I’m always impeccably dressed, groomed to the nines and as neat as a pin. Except when I’m not. Just as women have bad hair days, I have slob days. While RF has converted me to common sense safety of home carry, slob days put me at a distinct disadvantage. While my immaculately tailored trousers accomodate any number of holster options, sweatpants and basketball shorts, alas, do not. Outside-the-Waistband (OWB) holsterage is out of the question. My normal clip on my Inside-the-Waistband (IWB) holster pulls these garments so far towards my ankles I look like I’m on my way to a Lil Wayne concert. Which brings us to Remora Concealment and Security Products‘ Reinforced Top (RT) holster . . .
This is the stiff upper lip version of the Remora holster Ralph reviewed back in February. While we could discuss the tactical benefits of a holster that facilitates one-handed re-holstering, suffice it to say that Brad put the proverbial boot into the collapsing N8² Tactical holster yesterday. We concern ourselves here with matters sartorial.
The Remora RT is made of flypaper-like material. Not only is it pretty fly for a white guy, it negates the need for a pesky belt clip. It keeps the holster secure in your waistband whilst wearing sweatpants, gym shorts or that creepy bathing suit you bought for your summer tour of European beaches.
I’m not saying that the RT would be suitable for carrying a weapon during vigorous exercise. Nor would I recommend using the RT with sweatpants devoid of a proper drawstring; you need to cinch the waistband tight for secure carry.
But if you’re schlubbing around the home in less than formal attire, the Reinforced Top Remora will let you do so without sacrificing your need for bare arms. I mean, your ability to bear arms. It is a mission critical part of any not-so-well-dressed man’s wardrobe.
Hey. He ain’t lyin’. I bought a couple Remora RTs after reading Ralph’s review and they’re pretty much the bomb. They grip better than a fat kid with Snickers bar. Comfy, too.
Recently got a Remora 4ART for my Ruger LC9. Works well as both an IWB and a jacket pocket holster.
I have been using a Remora RT for about six months and really like it. I initially got one to use with my Armscor MAPP1 but it also fits my G-19 as well. The quality is great and it works as advertised.
I have a Remora RT, originally bought for a new SIG 229. I was delighted to discover my Glock 19 and Ruger 345 also fit it. But I was happy as a pig in poop when I found out how well it worked. Unless your pants are so loose they’re falling off, the Remora will hang in there. For short periods, I’ve worn the SIG in the Remora with sweat pants and sweat shorts that were pretty loose in the waist. The gun stayed put. Not that I engaged in any heavy physical activity (God forbid), but it sure hangs on when you’re just out walking around.
However, I will concede that the reinforced Remora will collapse to a degree when worn inside a very tight waistband. You don’t need to cinch your belt tourniquet tight to hold the Remora anyway.
The Remora is my favorite holster, bar none. The most amazing thing about it? Comfort. It just feels good, no matter what I’m wearing. I’ll also note that the owner of the company is a heck of a nice guy.
I’ll second the nice guy comment. I called with a question before ordering and he threw in a free magazine holster just for the heck of it.
Plaxico Burress told me there is no need for a holster while wearing those type of sport/workout pants.
I recently got a Remora holster (with regular non-reinforced top). Is is pretty amazing. Stays put! And, I agree it’s perfect for lounging around in gym shorts or sweats (with drawstrings). And, they’re very inexpensive, too!

I should have mentioned that I got my Remora for a Glock 27. And, it keeps that blocky, not-so-light gun securely in place. I’ve used it with gym shorts and even a bathing suit. And, I’ve also used it with jeans. Works quite well. It didn’t replace my Crossbreed Supertuck for daily use. But, I do find it handy to have.

Someone tell me… Can you tuck in your shirt with a Remora holster? Obviously you can but will the act of quickly yanking your shirt out cause the gun and holster to pop out too?
I don’t see how it could be used tucked (for the reasons you mentioned).
Never tried it, but I have to believe that pulling the shirt out to get access to the gun will send the gun and holster flying.
I think the only way the Remora will work while tucked under a shirt is if you are wearing a button up shirt over it. Instead of pulling out your shirt tail, rip your shirt buttons open and reach in to where you are carrying appendix IWB.

I tried it this weekend. The shirt will stick a little on the way out of the waistband, but my G19 and the Remora stayed firmly in place.
you CAN tuck a Remora. I have a G26. If you put it inside your underwear/boxers, and then tuck your shirt, it works and conceals quite well. I went to a church function at a local hotel. 60 couples for a marriage retreat (yeah, stop laughing). I had the Remora and no one, not even my wife, noticed. One of the church members asked me if I would take him to the range since he was thinking about getting a weapon, and I asked if he meant a weapon like the one I had on? He could not believe I was wearing a glock. I am wearing one right now as I type – the hardest part is if you go to the head and need to sit or remove your pants, make sure you reach for your sidearm and “ease” it down with your underwear.
It is an awesome holster.
Don’t order over the phone……..person taking the order has no idea what’s going on. Sent wrong holster although I made it clear what gun I was ordering for. Waste of time and money.
Happy to say I contacted Remora and they handled the problem, no questions asked. They are sending me the correct holster and told me to keep the old one. Not sure what to do with it, but hay………who knows, may have a gun that will fit in the future. Thanks to Remora for how they handled the problem.
The remora 3b model fits my khar cm40 like a glove,and it carries very comfortable and securely I highly recommend this quality product
One thing not mentioned is that Remora has a holster for just about any gun you can think of. I’ve had mine for a year or two and carry all of the time. It’s like new. The material is really rugged. It just sticks and stays in place. Washed it once just to keep it clean and to see how it cleans up and it regained full tackiness not that the tackiness diminished noticeably at all. It works well for OC if you just tuck it between your belt and pants. I think I paid all of $24.
