Also, that Tactical Boo-Boo Kit…no idea what’s actually in it, but the name is cracking me up. How on earth do people carry those Trayvax wallets without gouging themselves or ruining their clothes? Immodium is a must in my EDC. (You never know an unfamiliar restaurant out-of-town may do to your ass. Literally. 🙁 ) Reply So I was intrigued enough to visit the Trayvax website. No. Hell no. Fiddly straps and “loosen this” and “tighten this” and “sinch [sic] to secure cards.” Oh, and lots of “mil-spec.” Mil-spec webbing and mil-spec grommets and mil-spec paracord. Mil-spec bullshit, if you ask me. Lots of talk about durability and long-life, but as Ing points out, what about the durability of your pants pocket? You’ll need to line your pocket with “mil-spec” cordura if you want it to survive carrying a piece of steel in there for very long. Want to talk about durability? I carry a black leather Kenneth Cole bifold that was given to me by a girlfriend nearly a decade (and several girlfriends) ago. I’m only just now starting to think it might be time for a new one, which (as most guys who carry leather wallets will attest) means I will get around to actually replacing it in 2-3 more years, and in that time it will continue to quietly do exactly what I need it to until I finally retire it. It will require no adjusting, tightening, loosening, “sinching,” or any other -ing, aside from an occasional cleaning out of receipts and the like. This is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Reply Thanks for the answers. A big fat no (as I suspected) on the Trayvax, and a thumbs up on the Tactical Boo-Boo kit. I’d be tempted to buy one just for the name, but being useful is icing on the cake. Reply Believe it or not the Trayvax is surprisingly comfortable in the pocket. I can’t explain it, but it does not feel hard or pokey. Anyhow, it’s made to be attached to a backpack strap, which I never do, since I don’t like wearing my wallet on my chest like an ID badge. Matt, it’s also secure. I’ve never had anything fall out of it. Reply Hmmm…interesting. I hereby suspend my initial harsh judgment. Still doesn’t sound like my type of gear, but I’m willing to concede that it works, despite appearances. Reply Old enough to own a pistol and still playing with pokemon? You need your man-card revoked son! Reply Lighten up dudes above and below. Free men are supposed to be able to do what they please so long as they ain’t hurting no one else. I don’t play video games. Never have, doubt I ever will. But that’s a choice i make and it ain’t chained to my man card. Reply I don’t do Pokemon Go, but I’ve got a Pokemon card deck right here on my desk. Built it around Zoroark and Darkrai, my favorite Darkness types. I haven’t checked my man card in a while…not even sure where it is. Maybe it’s in my Pokemon deck. And I still wanna know how anybody manages to carry one of those Trayvax metal wallet things without hurting themselves. Reply I play it with my grade school age children and it makes them beyond happy. Don’t confuse machismo for manhood. Reply Exactly. Same here. Participating in shared interests with ones kids is not unmanly. Reply It makes you more of a man, by my measure. My son and I play this game daily. It makes walks fun, and the first thing he wants to do is go on a walk with his daddy when I get home. I won’t lie, it’s fun, I enjoy it not just because I’m spending time with the kids, but because its a well made game. But if you want my man card, by all means, come and take it. Reply Molon Labe? Reply We make fun of people who play that lame game, or really who play any of those time suck, brain rot cell phone games that harvest all of your phone’s information and activity, while compromising its security. So I was joking around this morning at the gym with my wife, saying that I’ve recently begun playing “Pokemon Go!” She told me that she knows I’m just joking around, but know this, actually devoting time to something as staggeringly stupid as playing “Pokemon Go!”, is a divorceable offense. We’re on the same page. Reply Facebook? Reply Good call on the Tactical Boo Boo kit. I have a couple of them, and with little kids I use this at least once a week. Good form factor and fits everywhere. Reply Some if the EDC dumps are ridiculous. Who actually carries all this stuff? Reply Apparently, not you…… Reply Honestly, outside of the GOPRO and the bigger medkit, I really don’t see much to complain about for this. Keys, wallet, cell phone, back up battery (I’ve carried one when I am just out wandering around town getting to know new cities and people watching) a respectable EDC gun and a couple of reloads and a dependable knife. Not really all that much to carry in a decent pair of Jeans. Its not like he’s lugging around a field notes a tablet and an IFAC. I mean gun and reloads go on your belt everything else will easily fit into pockets as long as your not wearing skinny jeans or meggings. Could he ditch the extra reload and go with a smaller knife…possibly. But all in all a respectable set up. Reply I guess maybe context would help. The idea of someone lugging a med kit and multiple reloads etc to wal mart to pick up some sugar is hilarious. But if it’s a day hiking trip through a crime-ridden part of Mexico it might make more sense. Reply Maybe this is the Paramedic in me, but simple trips to WalMart can easily become otherwise, whether on location or en route. By that logic, you also shouldn’t carry a firearm. It’s just WalMart, right? Nobody ever gets shot, mugged, or maybe (you) need a med kit because of the above. Build good habits, and a good carry method, and you never think of it as inconvenient because it doesn’t arbitrarily change based on “sugar.” Context is important, I have carried this amount of stuff to my local wally world before. However for context it was in the evening over the holidays due to work schedule it was the only time I could do my holiday shopping. Also their had been reports of people waiting outside of the mall and wal-mart and robbing people as they come out with their items. Believe me if i were going for a pleasent walk through Juarez I would be in full kit with plates a long gun and hopefully a squad of similiarly armed and geared up friendlys behind me…preferably in an MRAP. I’m going to call bullshit, he may “carry” this bullshit in his car(read:he threw it in the back seat 2 years ago). He either has blue jeans that have huge bulges in the pockets, or he wears cargo pockets so full they bounce back and forth. I’m tired of all these everyday carry posts that have people carrying shit like 2 medkits, 4 backup guns, back up magazines, a spare phone, a pair of lock picks (shit you not), 15 knives, flint/tinder, an emergency flare and a GPS locator.
