Everyday Carry Pocket Dump of the Day: Full-Size Gun?

Colorado security officer Noah Wyka’s everydaycarry.com pocket dump reveals a full-sized Walther PPQ M2. Right answer! If you want the best possible firearm for armed self-defense, a full-sized firearm is it. Well, in terms of accuracy and capacity. In terms of carrying, or concealing, a full-size handgun is something of a challenge. Now I fully admit . . .

when it comes to carrying a full-size handgun, sometimes I do and I don’t.

Some days, when I want the ultimate in concealment, I pocket carry a Ruger LCP II. Some days, when I want the best possible ballistic solution, I strap on a full-size Wilson EDC X9. And I always feel better armed when I do. ‘Cause I am.

Do you have one gun for everyday carry? If you do, what size is it? If you vary, which guns do you vary and how do you choose?

  1. I’ve been shot at and rocketed and despite training and repeated exposure I was scared shitless, but less so over time. I myself have frozen up (after having seen somebody get hit) and seen a lot of others freeze up. You never know how you’re going to react, but the pattern I saw was the tough talking guys didn’t always handle it the best (before, during and after). In general, I thought women handle it best, especially nurses. After getting hit by an IED and having been partially eviscerated, a nurse kept helping the wounded until blacking out. I don’t think most people have that kind of grit right out of the gate. I didn’t and I’ve probably since lost it. I can’t judge this guy, he’s probably just reacted like most ordinary people do. And he won’t have the chance to go through it again and again to the point where he’s over it. I feel for the guy.

  2. Was Emma González in the line of fire or in another building when the shooting happened? I think even I could survive not being shot at. I doubt I’d be called a hero for it or asked to speak anywhere though.

  3. Very sad about the deputies.

Even sadder that someone will use that to illustrate that if LE can’t handle a situation like that, then reg’lar folks ain’t got a chance (and should disarm post haste).

  4. Maybe when they ban all semi-autos and try to confiscate them, they’ll order the Broward County Sheriff’s Department to execute the confiscation.

They’ll be a quick end to that with those cowards running the other way at the first sight of an AR-15.
