It looks like CTD is steadily running down the crisis management checklist, trying to reestablish some level of credibility after the furious backlash they no doubt felt due to their decision to stop selling guns after Newtown. The latest tactic they’re trying to get back in the gun-buying public’s good graces: no modern rifles sales to LEOs where the citizens are prohibited from owning those same firearms! CTD claims that it’s always taken that stance, but they’re trying extra super double hard to make sure that The People of the Gun know it now that LaRue and Olympic Arms started the current LEO boycott movement. We asked yesterday whether we should forgive them, based on their apparent change of heart. From a quick scan of the responses, the answer is a resounding no. I tend to agree, even though their insanely fast shipping time to San Antonio is quite appealing.
I thought this was beneath you, RF.
Apparently it isn’t.
Three cheers for Midway.
Wow, an anti that makes mikeyb and LBD look intelligent by comparison. Never thought that possible.
Children, a magazine is a stockpile of munitions, which can be armor piercing in their nature, or not. This can be located anywhere from holes in the dirt, limestone caves in the mountains or in a cigar box. The vessel for containing the munitions is an irrelevant detail, as much as it is irrelevant that a Glock Pistol is made up of more than one material – its the purpose and intent behind the design that characterizes the terminology and nomenclature.
You language mauling mutants would have it explained to us as “that plastic thing that goes up which shall not have its capacity infringed upon.” when it comes to magazine.
I see the 2nd Amendment produce a Battlefield that is daily fought upon without consideration to non-combatants. This Ex-Marine clearly understands what it is you pro-guerrilla warfare fetishers seek, and what it is you find.
Playing silly buggers will get you buggered silly.
Someone explain to me exactly how a politician can introduce something like this and not be tried for treason or, at the very least, impeached?
Screwed up country.
“…there is often an inverse relationship between how angry a person is about an issue and how well they actually understand the issue. Callers to drive-time political themed talk shows are a prime example of that as they take a small sound bite they heard and use it as a launching point.”
I have come to realize that I’m in the minority, in that on hearing one sound bite like that, my first response is to find out more. I don’t flip out and start calling people libtards and fascists (of course, I don’t do that even after do some research), I go looking for “more.” Questionable info sends me to Snopes and Google before I even think about responding.
More Democrat navel gazing from every gunny’s favorite navel gazer, Dan Baum. Y’see, according to the Democrats, it’s all our fault. We are to blame. We have to clean up the mess that they made of society. We have to speak with a civil tongue in our heads, while they spew their lies and crap about us being uncivilized, uncouth racists. Forgive me if I ignore them and their mouthpiece, who has appointed himself to be the Judas goat leading us into the slaughterhouse. I’m not taking any sh!t from any Democrat, especially Dan Baum.
Amen! This is a faux pro gun story. Baum is attacking gun owners by painting them as somehow responsible for the actions of monsters like Adam Lanza. We’re not responsible for what monsters do.
Sure negligent people should suffer the consequences of their negligent actions, whether those involve firearms, cars, pets or whatever.
Where are the laws that automobiles must be stored safely and locked when not in use? Where are the laws requiring reporting when a car is stolen? Wait, there aren’t any? Where’s the outrage? Why is it that firearms are singled out for this special attention?
If liberals want to reduce the theft of guns, they can support gun safety education in schools and provide a tax credit for gun safes.
Then there’s the unsupported “facts” that Baum sprinkles in his story. My favorite: “And then there are the tens of thousands of shootings every year by people who aren’t criminals until they pick up a gun. Tempers flare, a gun is at hand, and tragedy ensues.” This has got to be the prototypical civilian disarmament advocate’s favorite straw man argument. This is just a nice way of saying, “There will be blood running in the streets!” Where’s the data?
I’m looking forward to Dan Baum’s next book about why women are responsible for their own sexual assaults. Because everyone knows, “they were asking for it.”
Interesting how they blame gun owners, no? Especially considering the fact that the statists love to create “gun-free” zones, banning firearms from certain locations. What happens when a citizen with a concealed weapon goes to one of these establishments? They have the choice of either turning and going home or locking the gun in the car. Many choose the latter. More than a few criminals have armed themselves by finding a gun in a car they burglarized. The most secure place my gun can be is on my hip. If you make me forfeit that security, you can’t complain about the consequences.
I have no children in my home, just me and the Mrs.
As I began to become more active in this fight we are in now, I realized that I was part of the problem, and had a few sleepless nights pondering “wouldn’t it be fucked to have some asshat break into my home, steal one of my weapons, and either kill me , my wife, or someone else with it. I had squirreled away some cash to purchase a semi-auto pistol to compliment my .38 revolver, but my conscious told me to spend the money more responsibly.
I bought a gun safe, use it, and have had many nights of restful sleep since. Now I’m saving up to fill it.
I implore you all who haven’t taken this important step to think about the potential consequences of leaving your firearms unsecured. Could you live with the consequences.
I won’t ever forgive them. They screwed me on my last ammo order (sent me half but charged me full price), and after trying to contact them 6 times (via email and phone) I had my bank reverse the charges. I personally hope they go under.
Great job Midway!! Way to step up!!
I don’t get it. Punish LEOs for the actions of corrupt politicians? (Who shouldn’t be punishing citizens either, agreed.) Why? Is it thought that this will cause politicians to rescind the laws? It will have no effect.
It is aimed at all the Police Chiefs and Sheriff’s who keep pushing these restrictions. The idea being if your citizens who benefit from neither body armor or back-up don’t need it then neither do LEOs who have both.
If they keep on doing the right thing, perhaps they can redeem themselves. Like Ruger and S&W.
Welcome to the anti-gunners new tact that I keep seeing. I even called someone out at a recent party. They say they are either gun owners or ex-something and then spout non-sense “as if” they had authority on the subject.
Its like a guy at a bar pretending in is a Doctor or James Bond trying to score a date with some hot chick. Its not going to happen. TTAG is not that dumb.
For my third post of the weekend, I repeat FOAD!
I worry about Dywinski, or more specifically Tresmond. I wish him well, but I hope the case makes a better argument than it sounds like. We don’t need another Heller II.
OTOH they are at least putting up a fight. NYSRPA, SAFE, AR15.com etc have filed a notice and they have a lawyer who really seems to grok 2a. So far NRA and SAF have talked big, but… Well, probably they’re waiting for the SAFE amendments. I hope.
Midway sells all kinds of stuff for all kinds of outdoor activities. I’ll be buying from them from now on. DICK’S also will not get a dime from me.
YES! Midway joins LaRue Tactical, New York Arms and Olympic! SOLIDARITY!!!
Good post shows that Private security which needs 2A rights to survive has used AR-15s and they with AR saves lives. Hope it helps kills MIs AWB.
Notice that he was a private security guard and how aggressive he was in his defense. I don’t think a cop would have been that aggressive, I think a cop would have run out the back door.
I highly encourage you to click on the above link. It demonstrates how in New York, where it’s basically illegal to defend yourself with any effective tools, the cops will avoid even getting scratched before protecting anyone.
Second attacker fumbled getting weapon out of bag. While off body has it place at times I think it’s a lesson for me to avoid it when possible.
Everything Dorner did was illegal. All the laws in the world won’t stop evil men from doing evil things. The law abiding need to be armed in case they encounter a Dorner during thier daily life.
Suppressors kill people? I thought guns did that.
Unless a few higher ups have been fired or resigned, this still
seems more to do with rebuilding their business, than
following any set of principals (beyond capitalism anyway).
Put yourselves in CTD’s shoes for a moment. They have a huge overhead, with many warehouses and employees. they don’t make the stuff, they just resell it. All of a sudden there is no inventory. No inventory means no sales, no salaries and no mortgage payments. Have you ever been there? So, they raise prices to keep their people and infrastructure in place. What is so hard to understand about that? IF YOU BELIEVE IN A FREE MARKET THEN THAT IS THE WAY IT SHOULD WORK!
Their statement that they won’t sell to government in any of the states and municipalities that cater to anti 2A laws is most welcome by me.
Let’s not get split on the small crap like prices. We are all together on this, or we are not.
I can’t say that having our 2nd Amendment rights depend on which side of the bed Justice Kennedy wakes up on makes me feel all that good.
With all due respect to a woman who lost her children. This is more of the victim mentality which is permitting our society today. Dr. Carson spoke of it during his prayer breakfast speech. Clearly they are using her in an attempt to keep emotions in front of logic.
I love the sign,”Concealed deadly Weapons are Prohibited…”
So as long as I have non-lethal stuff, I’m OK, right?
What if I promise to only incapacitate?
Most of my family and many of my friends are Democrats, and I almost was myself. But I have to question some folks’ level of commitment to their liberties when they relentlessly vote into office people who they know will violate their liberties and everyone else’s. If you’re right to bear arms, or any other fundamental right, means anything to you, will you please stop voting for people who think the Constitution is toilet paper?
Nope. They are STILL gouging on prices, even without considering the flip-flop of their policies… should change their name to CheaperThanGold(Barely).
I know my rights. And I know where they come from.
And they don’t come from nine black robes.
“Let the future appointments of judges be for four or six years and renewable by the President and Senate. This will bring their conduct at regular periods under revision and probation, and may keep them in equipoise between the general and special governments. We have erred in this point by copying England, where certainly it is a good thing to have the judges independent of the King. But we have omitted to copy their caution also, which makes a judge removable on the address of both legislative houses.” –Thomas Jefferson to William T. Barry, 1822. ME 15:389
I see a war brewing, and it is not going to be short or easy. I’m not talking about a figurative or metaphorical war either. I mean the real thing, with two sides and large loss of life on both sides. I’m afraid that nothing else will solve this problem. If freedom is to survive in this land, it must be re-won with the blood of her patriots and her tyrants.
If that is how it must be, then let it be sooner not later. For the sooner this war is fought and won, the sooner our children can begin living in freedom again. So be it.
Um, the anti-gunners sent in a grade D troll. Same old tired, tired talking points and ad hominem attacks. Zzzzzzz.
These people teach children…I hope not economics. Talk about the dumbing down…now you know where it starts. Always a knee jerk reaction from these folk.
Its for the kids, the ones they look at in the mirror every morning, Randy
I live in WA State, and am NOT a fan of this bill, but am I missing something here? I just read through the proposed bill twice and couldn’t find any reference to “sheriff” or “inspection.” Can you please tell us the page and line number from the bill on the WA State website? Here’s the bill on their site:
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/billdocs/2013-14/Pdf/Bills/Senate%20Bills/5737.pdf
Or were you referring to an earlier draft? If so, can you post a link? Thanks.
