Criminals, crazies and irresponsible gun owners are continuing to use .9mm handguns in the worst way. We can thank the mainstream media for keeping us up-to-date on the .9mm firearm phenomena. It’s a small story for some, but a big one for those who cherish their natural, civil and constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms — of any size, sort of description. Here’s what we found on the ongoing .9mm craze when we made friends with Google:

Shotgun wedding: Bride pulls gun on groom –  “Shortly after the man exchanged vows with Kate Elizabeth Prichard, 25, the newsome twosome began arguing at the Clarion Inn in Murfreesboro. That’s when Prichard allegedly pulled a .9mm handgun from under her wedding dress and pulled the trigger on the shocked groom, James Burton, 30.  ‘She pulled out of her wedding dress a .9mm pistol. Pointed it at her new husband’s head and pulled the trigger,’ Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Kyle Evans said, adding the gun was not loaded. “Responding officers let the husband know the honeymoon was over and his new wife was going to jail,” Evans said.

TSA Finds Loaded Gun at Logan Security Checkpoint – “A man was arrested after a loaded firearm was discovered at a Logan International Airport security checkpoint Wednesday morning, according to TSA officials. TSA officers allegedly found the loaded .9mm gun in the St. Louis-bound passenger’s carry-on luggage around 6:15 a.m. State police responded to the checkpoint and arrested the Kyle Maguire, 28, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Police say Maguire did not have a license to carry in the state.”

Gun woman held at King’s Wharf – “POLICE say they have arrested a woman and two men with a Beretta pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized. Officers were on patrol along Lady Hailes Avenue, in the vicinity of King’s Wharf, San Fernando [Trinidad], around 9 p.m. on Wednesday when they stopped and searched a gold coloured Nissan Almera motor vehicle. Police say they found the pistol and 16 rounds of .9mm ammunition.”

Man hospitalized after kiling [sic] man who violated his mother – “The men got into an altercation around 9:00 p.m. last Thursday, in which Castellanos pulled a machete and chopped Betancourth [above] to the arm, almost severing it. Castellanos was about to chop him again when Betancourth pulled out his licensed .9mm pistol and shot him several times. Police took Castellanos to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he later died from his injuries less than an hour later. Reports are that the altercation began because Castellanos alleged forced a kiss on Betancourth’s mother, who later called her son to tell him what happened.”

Cops: Milton man had unsecured guns with children in home – “Inside his estranged wife’s home, police said they found a .308 caliber rifle inside a closet that was ‘used as coat closet by members of household,’ court records show. Robbins’ 14-year-old son showed police the location of another gun that was in an unlocked case under a bed, court records state. A Smith and Wesson Model 500 revolver was seized. Inside the apartment of Robbins’ girlfriend, his 10-year-old daughter told investigators that there were two handguns – a .9mm pistol (not shown) and a .357 magnum revolver – inside a nightstand drawer next to a bed. Both guns were found loaded, court records state.”

  1. “police say they found the pistol and 16 rounds of .9mm ammunition.”

Hell, that’s nothing….I can fit 130 rounds of .9mm in my pistol.

  2. Once Jerry Miculek publishes a YouTube video where he takes out house flies with one of these things, demand is going to be HUGE!

    • Now you’ve given me the germ of an idea for something which will make anyone who invests in it rich beyond their wildest dreams. I’m following the blog on the R.I.P. 12 gauge ammo and I’m thinking if one took that round and shrunk it to .9mm to use against flies in a Bug-A-Salt carbine, the demand would be fantastic. Who’s willing to invest in this with me? We’ll be RICH!

  3. Think of all the rounds you could carry and the weight savings of carrying a .9mm!!! I quess I should retire my 9mm’s and invest in a couple of .9mms I will be able to carry at least 5 or 6 of them instead of 1 9mm!!!

  4. To my recollection, the smallest centerfire pistol ever made was the 2.7x9mm Kolibri.

FYI, there’s actually a market in reproduction functional miniature arms – with some examples bringing prices as high as $8K.

  5. Although the .9mm does not create a large entry wound and is extremely lightweight, it’s extreme velocity and controllability, particularly in fully automatic weapons, more than makes up for it’s dimunitive size. Enormous permanent wound cavities from this devastating round are all too common, while recoil is negligible. Smaller shooters who would have difficulty concealing a larger firearm favor this round for everyday carry.

  6. When I was a kid, my Dad kept a loaded
.9mm pistol in his sock drawer. Being the precocious child that I was I absconded with it one weekend and to my utter dismay, it discharged into my thumb. It hurt like the dickens and rivaled the worst paper cut that I’d ever received while making dioramas in my 2nd grade class. Boy did I learn a lesson that day! 😉

  7. “State police responded to the checkpoint and arrested the Kyle Maguire…”

WHAT!?!?!?!? They arrested the Kyle Maguire!?!?! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Not THE Kyle Maguire!!!

  8. The Milton article kind of pisses me off in several respects: getting kids to rat out a parent, MA’s intrusive safe storage laws, and the knowledge that a significant percentage of domestic violence reports in acrimonious divorces are fake and that cops will automatically believe a woman and make a man’s life hell.
