America is a country-size arsenal. …

And the obscene ubiquity of firearms in the U.S. explains much about why the country is a killing field without parallel in the developed world. Anyone who has studied the matter arrives at a simple conclusion: More guns means more death.

“Most countries do not have a problem with fatal mass shootings,” Daniel Webster, the co-director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions, told a Fox affiliate last year after the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. “It’s because we have decided to make guns readily available to almost anyone and our interests seem to be more protecting those who sell weapons and want to own them as opposed to the broader public.”

This choice has disfigured American society.

Reform is thwarted by cowardice, corruption and craziness. As young children are slaughtered in their classrooms, conservative officials desecrate their memory by suggesting their deaths are the price of freedom. As mass shootings become a daily occurrence, gun-rights zealots double down on the bloodthirsty fantasy that more guns is the answer. …

The Founding Fathers got it profoundly wrong on slavery and discrimination against women. Their next biggest mistake was the Second Amendment. But unlike other errors that the country has tried to come to terms with, society has only compounded the harm that came from the Constitution’s misfire concerning arms. The amendment should be repealed, yet Americans have so romanticized guns, and the judicial branch has imposed so permissive an interpretation of the law, that the country seems consigned to unthinkable bloodshed.

The Second Amendment won’t be repealed anytime soon, but Americans can at least begin a cultural shift and re-imagine what the law means. Society should no longer tolerate the kind of depraved fanaticism that allows someone like U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert to tweet a Christmas greeting with her young sons brandishing weapons of war. It should dismiss from the public conversation anyone who advocates the hell-summoning lie that the presence of more guns will prevent gun violence. It should humiliate without restraint those costume-wearing soldier wannabes who show up with their shooters at rallies. It should elevate judges — unlike the present conservative majority justices of the U.S. Supreme Court — who don’t view the Second Amendment as a national suicide pact.

      • Mr. Webster, PhD, is a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Oh wait…it was renamed. It is now the Bloomberg School of Public Health, after Bloomie donated $1 Billion to the school so as to have his pocket “research” group. The professors there do statistical research, so they are well versed in twisting their data base to support a pre-determined “truth.”

        • Not so fast quentin young…How are people supposed to defend life and home when cornered by criminals who criminally misuse firearms, bricks, bats, knives, feet, fists, vehicles, etc?

Are decent law abiding citizens backed in a corner by a violent criminal supposed to call a pasty mouth pompous pathetic pos like you for their protection?

      • If a climate scientist was in the pocket of big oil we would gave a stroke. This guy’s entire existence is financed by Bloomberg and his studies are completely unbiased….yah….right

      • “Distinguished scholars” are intellectual prostitutes that will spout the opinions of whomever is funding their organizations.

Shame them and mock them early and often.

    • Just like everything else in this country now,
      We’ve become Crazy Town.
If the Left can get the MoFoMedia to propagate and push the crazy idea that “Men can get pregnant” then they rightly feel emboldened to say whatever lie they want about guns.

    • Nine months before he was born Quentin’s daddy made his biggest misfire.

        • Any bets Quentin is perfectly happy with Mexico that fulfills his gun control wet dreams? A country where the police, military, government, and criminals have formed an unholy alliance to wage war on the population.

        • I believe the R Lee Ermy Full Metal Jacket quote was ‘the best part of you rolled down your mother’s crack and stained the sheets’, or something to that effect.

    • The worst…WORST day of shooting in the entire USA, pale PALE PALE PALE in comparison to the best day under a: MAO, STALIN, POL POT, CASTRO, DING DONG DUNG of N. Korea…

Why is it only the People get to create a Militia…………….. not even the most insane tyrannical government would ever allow the creation of an armed Citizen Militia filled with Citizens outraged and angry at the tyrannical government …TO EVER EXIST!!!

  1. Uh-oh.
Debbie’s not gonna be happy with this guy.

    Go easy Debbie.
His obvious mental illness is in fact out of his control.

    • My response to this author is this: show the courage of your convictions and propose a Constitutional Amendment. Then put forth your most articulate arguments for turning citizens into felons and let the American people decide.
The problem for Quentin Young is he doesn’t like or trust the American people and it shows.

      • We’re not going to hold our breath. He can’t even manage to put his opinion out in a format that permits discussion. That website where his drivel was posted has no comments section. Still Opposite Day in leftist land…

      • Quentin smugly thinks he’s superior to those unwashed proles and should be THE ONE to lead them to salvation.

  2. “Society should no longer tolerate the kind of depraved fanaticism that allows someone like U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert to tweet a Christmas greeting with her young sons brandishing weapons of war.”

The Christmas card was “depraved fanaticism”?

They were not ‘weapons of war’. They are semi-auto firearms that work the same as any other semi-auto firearm.

That “Christmas card” was able to exist because of guns. Its called an expression of the right to free speech, a right that exists because guns were used to throw off the yoke of tyranny.

    • Your point stands whether they are “weapons of war” or not. They were being used / displayed in a lawful and safe manner. They could have been holding select fire weapons, RPGs, grenade launchers.

The point is, IMHO, the narrative about “weapons of war” is one that we should push back on. At every opportunity. Because during a war, anything can be a weapon. Even a spoon or a pencil….

      • All the vc the mountanyards killed with their little bows and arrows are still dead too. Anything and everything I can get my hands on.

      • The thing is, the second Amendment was written expressly for the right of the people to be armed with Weapons of War.
These weapons of war statements and We the People not having access to Weapons of War is a direct infringement to the Constitutional Right To Be Armed.
Assualt weapons, yes they are, and an American citizen is not only allowed by a Right but has a national duty to country to own them.

      • Because during a war, anything can be a weapon. Even a spoon or a pencil….

        Just ask John Wick.

    • Actually, her lack of judgement was very apparent in that Christmas card photo, as some of her family was attired in NFL logo jerseys.

      • … couldn’t agree more, I havent watched an nfl game for 3 seasons and this’ll be the second year of no nascar for me. screw em both!

        • nascar coming to lake shore drive. that’ll be a mess, but we’ll make the most out of it. go cups, etc.
nfl is half woke, fun if the local boys do well.
chicom nba is unwatchable, traveling, constant fouls for the superstars, all thugs all the time.

        • “nascar coming to lake shore drive. that’ll be a mess, but we’ll make the most out of it. go cups, etc.”

The pit crews getting jacked on live TV… 🙂

    • Also, that Christmas card is protected speech under the 1st Amendment so it’s obvious the 2nd isn’t the only amendment he dislikes.

  3. biggest “misfire” – underestimating the depravity of lawyers/politicians, allowing legislatures to determine their own modes of operation

  4. People own guns for many reasons, one of these reasons is personal safety. The gun in my house(or on my hip) is there for the same reason as our country has weapons of war – they are deterrents against anyone who has designs on my self, property and/or loved ones.
I hope and pray that I will never need them, but I have them just the same.

  5. “re-imagine what the law means.”
Law?? Is that how he views the SECOND AMENDMENT?

Mr. Young- how about taking a look right across the border to Mexico. It is very difficult, if not impossible, for ordinary Mexicans to get a gun. Yet, people are murdered there by guns in the tens of thousands. Why is that? Maybe you should ask the two Americans that were just murdered there. Oh, wait, you can’t.

    • He’ll blame it on the “iron pipeline” of guns from the USA being sold by greedy gun dealers (with ATF advice).

  6. “Society should no longer tolerate the kind of depraved fanaticism”

Yep, society should no longer tolerate the depraved fanaticism of the ‘woke’, left-wing and liberals, the depraved fanaticism that always degenerates into extremist violent far left-wing idiots posing as ‘social justice warriors’ and ANTIFA (the pet army of the left-wing, ‘woke’, and liberal) and BLM and those who want to remove constitutional rights like you and government. The biggest “misfire” of the founding fathers was not placing constraints on that depraved fanaticism, like you, but in fact they saw this depraved fanaticism like you was going to happen thus “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”.

  7. Rants mixed with outright lies. There is not a mass shooting everyday, in fact mass shootings are considered statistically RARE. And wake up, dude to what’s going on in the rest of the world! You have your head in the sand? Mass shootings around the world are even more horrendous than the rare occurrences here (but not to minimize these are horrible tragedies), especially in Africa. China, various South American countries, and Europe have had to deal with mass murderers – the US doesn’t have exclusivity here. Maybe when the courts actually start locking up and keep locked up repeat offenders that a big dent could finally be out in murderous violence.

  8. We are a free country unlike most others , that is why we have firearms and the right to them. Just as the freedom of press to post about this or do an article for/against it . Remember freedom comes at a cost , some will abuse it, just as the lies posted in the press everyday with partial truths. Try doing that in China or Iran and see how far you go either to prison or death. Stand for liberty or be led around to your own demise. Thankful to God above for our freedom and those who keep us free.

  9. Quentin is another J-school genius who makes his living at a failed publication that is “supported by grants and a coalition of donors as a 501c(3) public charity”.

That is how impressive Quentin is.

  10. wait
    wait
    just wait a minute here
    i thought that
    -slavery-
    was the founders biggest misfire

    • He stated that:
The Founding Fathers got it profoundly wrong on slavery and discrimination against women. Their next biggest mistake was the Second Amendment.

He also suggests that 2A should be repealed. Maybe he forgot that the US Constitution has a process for that, and he is welcome to lean into it. Until and unless 2A is repealed, Judges must follow that (in a law-abiding society). Note, even if 2A were repealed, the right to self defense is a natural right, and not subject to laws in the first place.

  11. Question, so you want to repeal the second amendment, how do you propose you are going to take the guns off we the people?

    • “…how do you propose you are going to take the guns off we the people?”

In the article, he says how :

“The project must start with a shift away from tolerance of gun extremists. Acceptance must cease of these murder-mongers in the media, government, public gatherings and the home next door. No longer can their fanaticism be indulged or their rigidity accommodated. Society must stigmatize them, and they must be rendered culturally odious. Only when gun absolutists become social pariahs can the nation start to establish comprehensive reform, allowing community members to attend schools, shop at grocery stores and visit nightclubs without fear of being torn to shreds in a blast of bullets.”

      Shame them back.

Ask them if a woman brutally raped and left for dead is morally-superior to a woman with a smoking gun in her hand and a dead rapist at their feet… 🙂

  12. I would argue their biggest failures that have not been addressed are a stronger structure around the separation of powers, a clear “thou shall not form a fourth branch of government” (I’m looking at you exec branch agencies,) a strict limit of the number of supreme court justices, a way of keeping branches from investigating their own malfeasance and incompetence, and term limits for Congress.

The term limits and justice quota would have been the big two. FDR would likely not have strong armed the supreme court the way he did otherwise.

  13. Americans can at least begin a cultural shift and re-imagine what the law means.

The REAL problem with the 2nd Amendment is those vocabulary challenged individuals that feel obligated to constantly share their ignorance of the English language with EVERYONE… Someone get this moron a dictionary… How can you “re-imagine” such an obviously simple and straightforward statement as the 2A…

  14. Shame my nuts. Unfortunately for this bloviating drama queen, I couldn’t possible care one iota of a modicum of a fraction of a rat’s ass what they think. How does one shame the apathetic?

Only tangentially related, are these people in a contest of some kind? Seems like every one of these articles I read is attempting to shrilly shriek their way into just outright claiming that if you look outside right now, this very instant, America looks like the flashbacks from The Terminator. Bodies everywhere, piles of spent brass, gangs of roving AR’s raping and pillaging across the land, drooling neo-Nazi cannibals in every tree top, dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA!

In the immortal words of Eddie Murphy quoting Richard Pryor “(they need to) have a Coke and a smile and shut the fuck up.”

      • “…and the Sta-Puf marshmallow man climbing buildings.”

        • Oh, look at that…it’s actually spelled “Stay Puft”. My bad. Well, it was the memory of Bill Murray’s famous “cats and dogs living together” that sparked it. 🙂

  15. “And the obscene ubiquity of firearms in the U.S. explains much about why the country is a killing field without parallel in the developed world.”

Although this is bullshit – should we be just as stupid as the rest of the world? History abounds with tales of what happens to a disarmed population.

    • SquirrelSlayer,

History abounds with tales of what happens to a disarmed population.

The people of Ukraine are the most recent example. Imagine how different things would be if 40% of Ukrainians had a rifle and 1,000 rounds of ammunition 14 months ago BEFORE Russia poured across their border.

Sure, Russia had/has tanks, helicopters, fighter jets, and guided missiles. While the Ukrainian populace cannot do much against those when they are armed only with rifles, watch what happens when Russians exit their tanks, helicopters, and fighter jets.

Pro tip: a nation cannot occupy, control, and manage another nation from tanks, helicopters, and jets. Eventually, the aggressor nation has to put their military personnel on the ground and expose them. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where it gets really interesting when nearly everyone in the populace of the defending nation has rifles and a robust supply of ammunition for said rifles.

      • The Powers that Be are working hard on getting mechanical robot soldiers.
Scenes from Terminator on it’s way, I’m guessing 20 years.

        • Max, there is conventional EMP weapons that can be delivered via cruise missile.

The basics are, most of the mass of the missile is a monster coil of copper wire, and an explosive drives a powerful magnet down the bore of the magnet. That generates a massive voltage spike that is delivered via a wire trailing behind the missile as it explodes (the antenna). That induced ‘spike’ fries integrated circuits like a nuke does.

Other cruise missiles can take out powerlines by delivering a cloud of metalized Mylar strips (just like radar reflecting ‘chaff’) that trips the fuzeable links on the power poles. No permanent damage, but a crew has to clear the chaff and replace the links before power is restored…

        • @Geoff” I’m getting told old for this shit” PR
Tell us more of what you know please. You’ve some very interesting stories and I/we find them very informative.
I’m am new to Alcohol Firearms Tobacco and Explosives and I/we appreciate all information.

        • Pretty much know the basics of EMP but I don’t have a cruise missile launcher nor would I need anything that big to thwart an attack from a couple of robots, something in a hand grenade size would be more appropriate but generating enough power on a small scale would be a problem…

        • Max, move a strong magnet through a coil of wire very fast, that generates a powerful magnetic field in the wire. A wire a few feet long attached to one end of the coil of wire generates a near-field of several thousand volts. That makes delicate electronics very unhappy… 🙂

        • That makes delicate electronics very unhappy

That’s why I have an old Dodge 4×4 with a mechanical Cummins diesel (it’ll run on just about anything that will burn)… No electronics, air starter, five speed gear box, not even a radio… Also have a Faraday cage big enough to hold a set of walkie talkies, cell phone, lap top (if they get stuff working again)…

  16. What we need to to re-imagine a society where there are two sexes, biological women should not have to compete with biological men in sports, and just point and laugh at idiots like this guy.

    • Amen Reverend, preach it. I still live in that world, those who deny reality can go kick bricks.

  17. Anybody against our constitution is a traitor to this country. Period.

Get over trying to figure out or rationalize Shall Not Be Infringed!

If it weren’t for all those guns, China would own this country already.

Other countries don’t have mass murders. Really?

Ok, they just have genecide. Is that better?

    • Bad news, China already owns this country. And once it gets “My” gunms itll spring the trap.

  18. I am pretty confident that the likes of Quentin Young are unwilling and/or incapable of discussing facts and implications on pretty much any topic.

    Take this pearl for example:

As young children are slaughtered in their classrooms, conservative officials … [suggest] their deaths are the price of freedom.” — Quentin Young

And yet people like Mr. Young will tell us that deaths are a totally acceptable price of freedom if the deaths are a result of something that THEY endorse, such as people willingly injecting themselves with recreational drugs or mothers willingly killing and removing the baby in their wombs.

    • Dead bodies are piling up along the border thanks to their policies. Where’s the press? Why isn’t AOC crying about it? They don’t care about anything unless they can use it to gain power. Remember when that one immigrant girl died in custody, and they tried to blame Trump for it?

      Speaking of classrooms:
“When we took prayers out of schools, guns came into schools. Don’t tell me about no separation of church and state. State is the body. Church is the heart. You take the heart out of the body, the body dies.” – NYC mayor Adams

Progressives are pissed. They tend to lose their mind over any religion other than their own because they’re so loving, inclusive, and accepting.

      • to Dud Brain

As I have said many times before the far right fanatics want an all white Christian Caliphate. They are also ignorant of the fact that Capitalvania was founded on the principles of the separation of church and state.

Shove your bronze age mysticism up your ass. You have no right to force people or students to engage in prayer, ritual, incantations or painting your body red and dancing naked by the light of the moon.

What caused the increase in mental illness is when Pres. Reagan shut down the mental institutions to save on tax money, it had nothing to do with prayer.

In the early 1980s, during President Ronald Reagan’s first few years in office, his administration slashed Medicaid expenditures by more than 18 percent. The Department of Health and Human Services budget was cut by 25 percent, essentially eliminating several public-health programs. Federal funding for maternal and child health was reduced by 18 percent — subsequent programming cuts ended up creating no administrative savings.

        https://timeline.com/reagan-trump-healthcare-cuts-8cf64aa242eb

The Mental Health Systems Act of 1980 (MHSA) was United States legislation signed by President Jimmy Carter which provided grants to community mental health centers. In 1981 President Ronald Reagan, who had made major efforts during his Governorship to reduce funding and enlistment for California mental institutions, pushed a political effort through the U.S. Congress to repeal most of MHSA.[1] The MHSA was considered landmark legislation in mental health care policy.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_Health_Systems_Act_of_1980

And when Reagan broke the strong Unions he then was able to ship high paying jobs overseas which forced mothers into the workforce with no one left at home to properly raise the children. Remember Reagan’s “trickle down economy”. What a laugh.

Now Dud brain try and lie your way out of these facts.

    • Now let’s expand upon Mr. Young’s statement.

Let us assume that our society can somehow realize all of Mr. Young’s whims. We know that means, at a minimum, that citizen firearm ownership will only consist of muskets and single-shot shotguns and rifles. That also means no citizen ownership of handguns nor semi-automatic shotguns and rifles. Of course there can be no citizen carry of firearms for self-defense in public.

And when our society achieves all of Mr. Young’s whims as outlined in my paragraph above, brutal violent criminals will use edge-weapons and bludgeons to maim and murder thousands of defenseless people who would have otherwise carried firearms and fended off their attackers. Needless to say, Mr. Young would be totally content with those deaths as the price of freedom (from “gun violence”).

Make no mistake: remove firearms from society (which is not even possible) and all you will do is alter the nature and method of violent, deadly attacks. Instead of a young thug shooting a victim, that young thug will stab or bludgeon his/her victim. Instead of a spouse abuser shooting his wife, he will stab, bludgeon, strangle, or poison his wife. Instead of one-off criminals attacking us, criminal gangs will attack us. Or, worst case, instead of criminal gangs attacking us, a foreign nation will attack us (reference Ukraine).

    • Will Quentin Young be the one who authorizes Dacian to embark on his Caravan of Death as an act of mass reprisal?

      • Don’t capitalize dacian’s name, deliberately dis-respect him by not capitalizing it… 🙂

      • Not familiar with IT’s “Cravan of Death” but if they get to my neighborhood early on the rest of ya’ll won’t need to concern yourselves about it…

        • Historically it is the name of a Chilean death squad that on activation embarked on a campaign of murder.

I think the name is appropriate for lil’d’s method of imposing s0cial justice to the masses.

        • Doesn’t matter what it’s called, better come with its affairs in order we don’t fuk around…

    • point of order: I don’t care about the addled and jumbled thoughts of Quentin Young or those like him.
I have no interest in cooperating with them or acceding to their wishes to make them feel better.
they’re not just wrong, they’re both dishonest and disingenuous. They have an agenda and a goal, one of which I am steadfast in opposition to.
To say that I don’t care for them is a generous understatement. In fact I do NOT wish them well
They’re our enemies. Acknowledge that and treat them as such, with a continuum of reaction depending on the exigent circumstances of each one(it may range from merely laughing at them to seeing to the immediate safety of both yourselves and those around you)

  19. this Young guy sounds like a another stupid Democrat that doesn’t know anything. just his first sentence is enough to know that he doesn’t know anything about anything.

  20. Mr. Young certainly hit the nail on the head but he failed to dig deeper into the disingenuous Second Amendment which was deliberately written as vaguely as possible.

Anderson’s new book quotes the Criminal Founders of the U.S. such as the Incompetent George Washington, the hypocrite Jefferson and Madison etc. who were absolutely terrified of the slave uprising in Haiti and the overthrow of the French Government there. The Founders of the U.S. were worried that the White Slave owners who were fleeing and bringing their slaves with them would influence U.S. Slaves into an all encompassing U.S slave revolt which certainly had a big influence on the writing 2A the most disingenuous Amendment of the Bill of Rights and it was meant to be that way. More on that shortly.

2A was also written to cajole the States into joining the new Federal Government by promising them a State Militia independent of any Federal oversight (at least it was that way in the beginning). The Scoundrels that founded the U.S. were well aware of the rather low educational level and often low intellect level of the average citizen, it was almost as low as the current Trumpite morons as well as the Qanon nut cases of today. 2A was political and gave the proletariat the illusion they had the right to own arms as individuals but nothing could have been further than the truth about the right to own arms for the individual.

Justice Burger and others like him have stated that a Militia is always controlled by the criminals in power i.e. the rulers of the States, and individuals who join take their orders from their masters (the henchmen working for the rulers). If you get out of line you get shot. In other words the Militia had nothing to do with the individuals right to own arms.

It must be emphasized and recalled that the Criminals who founded the U.S. feared democracy and called it mob rule and even denied the right to vote to most white men, slaves, women and dogs, who were naturally forbidden to vote, the last thing they would have wanted to happen is to have the proletariat given the right to own arms but they could not spell that out in plain English hence the vaguely written 2A. The corrupt courts have taken full advantage of 2A’s vagueness and have restricted and banned guns for decades.

The Criminals who founded the U.S. forever denied the people the right to a true Grecian democracy and a multiparty parliamentary government. When the scoundrel founders, later under threat, gave white men the right to vote with one hand they then quickly sabotaged that right with the corrupt practices of gerrymandering which made the right to vote nothing more a delusion and they later introduced the corrupt electoral college, as well as lobbying (which is merely legalized bribery) which firmly established a country for the filthy rich and run by the filthy rich (oligarchy) and it remains so to this very day and is perhaps the most corrupt country on the planet.

Only 1/3 of the American people supported the Revolution and another 1/3 actually fought with the British and another 1/3 remained neutral. Roughly 150,000 Americans left for Candida after the Revolutionary war. Canada did not waste millions on a war which in the U.S. set its economic development back decades.

George Washington was a megalomaniac and perhaps the most incompetent general in U.S. history, he lost more battles than he won in separate two wars. He had made a dismal record in the French and Indian War when he fought with the British and then had the audacity to ask for a Generalship in the British Army. The British of course laughed in his face and called him for what he was, incompetent, and they also called him a Colonial (original word for dumb ass hillbilly). Washington in a livid rage screamed that he would start his own army which was the real reason he wanted war with the British as it had nothing to do with freedom for the American people but rather his own wounded pride.

The weak willed Washington, (to terrified of the greed monger corrupt merchants that wanted the war because they were too damn cheap to spend a few pennies in taxation to support the hand that was feeding them with prosperity i.e. Britain) stabbed his best general in the back (Benedict Arnold) by failing to reimburse Arnold for over 1 million in compensation for having spent his own money to help finance the war. Washington also stabbed his best friend Thomas Paine in the back and almost got him executed when he was imprisoned in France because he ignored Paine’s plea for him to help him and contact the French Government as to his release. Without Paine’s propaganda pamphlets the American Revolution would never have gotten off the ground. Yes Washington was a real back stabbing asshole.

Washington forever the incompetent. lost more battles than he won and was almost captured twice. Washington was so incompetent he actually had to hire an old “has been” alcoholic German General to train his troops for him. If it had not been for French intervention with their professional army skilled in siege warfare along with their up-to-date cannon and the outstanding performance of the French Navy Washington would have lost the war and been hug by his dirty balls. The U.S. today would then have been a truly democratic country and probably be devoid of legalized bribery by lobbying and have multiple political parties and a democratic parliamentary government. The most patriotic thing any American could do today is to piss on George Washington’s grave.

Please note: Putin has a Super Pac for Trump in 2024. Remember Biden is democracy’s best friend and no Republican wants democracy.

    • Really TLDR.

You antifa incels are always open to a certain type of slavery. Your Caravan of Death won’t kill all of it’s victims immediately.

    • Putin has a Super Pac for Trump in 2024. Remember Biden is democracy’s best friend and no Republican wants democracy

Oh look, IT’s trying out it’s new stand-up comedy routine… Too bad you don’t have a day job so I could tell you not to quit it…

    • If it had not been for French intervention…

Blah-blah-blah… And if had not been for American intervention France and the rest of Europe, Scandanavia, North Africa and the Middle East would be speaking German…

    • Not the “CRIMINALS” was your BRITISH ANCESTORS who attempted to “DISARM” the “COLONIST” of Arms to “DEFEND THEMSELVES and FED THEMSELVES”!!!!

Your BRITISH SUBJECT BUTT still hurts from the reaming it got!!!

    • the rather low educational level and often low intellect level of the average citizen,

Good to see that you are continuing the tradition… All that shit you posted is absolute garbage, it’s probably a good thing that you hide out in your mothers basement… So, who wrote that crap for you, too many words for you to put together coherently… That conglomeration of bullshit was obviously taken from Wikipedia with some serious editing and the addition of some outright lies which is WAY too sophisticated for your small mind… In fact what you posted pretty much makes you a traitor and you should be careful to not start spouting that crap in public, someone might take offense…

    • yet you continue to live in the USA, when are you going back to mother Russia ??

BTW, the USA is a republic, not a democracy.

  21. America is a country sized arsenal.
Man that statement just made my day.
Thank you Thank you Thank you

    • We can do better. I want to be able to walk into a local hardware store and buy a sub machine gun with muffler, no questions asked.

      • Have you tried the Gunm Free zones?
I’ve not had any luck as of yet, yours may be different. I attribute not getting my free gunm due to the fact humans are prejudiced.

      • quote——–I want to be able to walk into a local hardware store and buy a sub machine gun with muffler, no questions asked.-quote

Jethro it’s called a suppressor or silencer, not a muffler, and no one needs a machine gun in a civilized country.

And suppressors are a bad idea too that is why they and machine guns (used ones) are on the NFA list so the average gang banger cannot buy them over the counter. That is the way its done in a civilized country.

The NFA act was one of the few times we got a sensible gun law, its just that they did not include all firearms in it. If they had thousands of lives would have been saved. European & Asian type gun laws like our NFA act proved it years ago. No one should be able to buy deadly weapons without the proper background check.

        • Jethro it’s called a suppressor or silencer,
Guess what moron… Muffler IS one of many slang (ever heard of “slang”) words used to denote a “suppressor” of which “silencer” is also used… Oh wait, my bad you actually USED a slang term…

        • With your continued help, dacian, we should be able to remove all, repeat, all gun laws from the books.

Civilized has different meanings for different folks.

        • and yet with all the gun laws and nfa in place none of it has stopped a single determined criminal from committing crimes.
why is that whacky dacky ??
because as you refuse to understand is that criminal do not care about laws, no matter how many get passed.

      • Chances of that happening are on the same level as my chances of finding a Black on Black 1966 Shelby GT350 w/zero original miles in like new unrestored condition for $500…..

        • When I was young you could mail order guns right to your door.

I want to return America to its former glory.

        • You are preaching to choir, the new Montgomery Ward catalogue coming in the mail was an event in itself…

  22. ……….and because of this ” arsenal ” we have not become another Venezuela or Cuba.

  23. “Anyone who has studied the matter arrives at a simple conclusion: More guns means more death.”

Pithy, except for one thing, it isn’t true. See, the U.S. has two orders of magnitude more guns per capita than pretty much anywhere else and, yet, our rate of death by bullet wound is in the middle.

The entire anti-gun argument is predicated on the proposition that it is the quantity of guns that causes the harm with guns but that is simply not true.

To put a number on it, your probability of being killed with a gun (you aren’t using on yourself) in the next year is less than 0.00005.

    • Well sht MyName with numbers like that I might as well quit carrying( actually dragging) my gunm

      • Well, from the standpoint of pure probability, sure. There is another consideration, however, that is: Total Cost. See, if something is very unlikely to occur, and the cost is low, then there is very little one should do to prevent that occurrence. If, on the other hand, the cost is very high, then the product of risk and cost is a bit bigger. You must decide, for yourself, how much protecting your own life is worth. (I have a feeling you’ve already done this math.)

The vast majority of the population does this math unconsciously every day when they walk out the door. I have had many people tell me that they are, “afraid of all the guns out there,” but, they aren’t. If they were, they would not go “out there.”

    • “Anyone who has studied the matter arrives at a simple conclusion: More guns means more death.”

For science I tested this theory with an experiment, but the amount of death resulting from my ownership of guns remained constant as I went from one pistol to two, three, added rifles, more pistols, a revolver, and some stripped AR lowers.

I even got an 80% lower and a Polymer80, I was really expecting the number of deaths to sky rocket with a couple ghost guns. Even some weapons of war, battle rifles, and silencers didn’t push the death number up. Still stuck at zero deaths. I must be doing something wrong, because more guns means more deaths, it’s simple.

      • With the number of guns I have in a largely disarmed country, following Quentin’s logic I should have bodies stacked around my property so high I should not be able to see over them.

Are they not trying hard enough?

  24. Always with the qualifiers. The violence is not happening in “developed” areas of the country. In fact it’s happening in areas of the country that have an awful lot of similarity to those “undeveloped” countries these pundits so often exclude from their analysis.

    • Any mention of “developed” countries is an admission that violence is driven by socioeconomic factors more than by availability of guns.

  25. The founding fathers greatest oversight was not the second amendment. It was not putting a cap on the taxing authority of Congress.

    • I would add the ability to regulate Interstate Commerce with no limit was a huge mistake, as it let the federal government weasel their way into everything.

The Supreme Court actually ruled that a private citizen growing pot in his closet for his personal use, was effecting interstate commerce and could therefore be subject to federal authority. This was because, since he was growing his own, he was having a negative impact of the illegal trade nationwide, since he wasn’t a customer anymore.

      • Marijuana is an herb.
I can still grow basil though, hah.
Oh BTW I’ve found an “old” new hallucinogenic plant , it’s so wicked even I wont touch it. I’m saving it for humans I dont like. Might just find themselves walking down the highway naked carrying a towel and eating a bar of soap

        • HAHA!

Maxx, you beat me to it. What’s this world coming to when you can’t even trust a nekkid woman walking into your house who wants to use your skillet?

        • can’t even trust a nekkid woman walking into your house

There was a time in my life when finding a strange naked woman in my house was a regular occurrence (not a bad thing), We are truly living in sad times indeed…

        • I’ve found an “old” new hallucinogenic plant..

Must be Mescalin. Smoked it in the 60s, trippy but no naked strolls (at least not down the highway) Indians used it to “talk” to the spirits of their ancestors, the buffalo they just killed and their bows before they went on a hunt… Haven’t heard of anyone using for decades…

      • The federal government was not intended to have the authority to regulate interstate commerce to the degree that it has. The interstate commerce clause was written specifically to prohibit trade Wars between the states which the time of the nation’s founding operated as individual countries. The interstate commerce clause was distorted by a progressive Supreme Court in the 1930s and has since given the federal government nearly omnipotent power over everything. With any luck we will get a case before the Supreme Court while Justus Thomas is still on it that will rein in the federal government’s power that they have been wielding through the interstate commerce clause.

  26. Well the DemoRats did try to eliminate the 2nd Amendment with the 1934 Gun Control Act, that was originally going to include pistols, rifles and shotguns. With the $200 tax being the equivalent to 3 months average take home pay in 1934, it was seen as political suicide at the time.

That’s why the whole, “Short barreled rifle and shotgun thing” was left in the bill, as they didn’t want people converting these weapons into pistols, to avoid the tax on pistols by converting “grandfathered” rifles and shotguns.

If the $200 Tax was applied to all arms, the firearms industry would have been mostly gone by now and only rich people and the government would have new and/or modern firearms. So don’t ever forget that was their plan for “Reasonable” Gun Control, tax the Right to Death, so most people can’t afford to exercise it.

  27. that’s some opposite world crap right there.
i’m not breaking it down; all the stats are untrue and i disagree with the entirety of his opinions.

  28. “As young children are slaughtered in their classrooms, conservative officials desecrate their memory by suggesting their deaths are the price of freedom.”

    False.

Conservative officials have not desecrated their memory by suggesting their deaths are the price of freedom. What conservative officials have pointed out, sometimes not so eloquently, is that law abiding people did not commit these heinous acts that were carried out by those with mental illness, and that the rights of the law abiding should not suffer because of them. I can see where you might infer in your self-limited confirmation bias where that was “suggested” but that actually wasn’t being “suggested” at all.

But, on the other hand, you and your other anti-gun idiots were responsible for those deaths by creating and advocating for laws that declared those ‘class rooms’ (the schools) ‘gun free zones’ which ensured one of these mentally ill killers would have the best chance of unopposed freedom to do as they pleased. If even one teacher with a gun was present and engaged the shooter the kids chances of survival would have been much greater.

    gun free zones, defined:

“gun (gŭn) free (frē) zone (zōn)

    * Trap in which people congregate and are falsely promised safety by a make believe force field of a ‘No Guns” prohibition.

    * A place where people are disarmed and not permitted self-defense with firearms.

    * Hunting grounds for predator criminals where defenseless prey is guaranteed by law.

    * Place where existing laws against violent crimes do not work to prevent violent crimes the laws are touted to be able to prevent.

    * Places designed to attract violently mentally ill predators.

    * Places where police forces cease to operate to protect before the fact of a violent crime as they are touted to be able to do by politicians implying.

    In the Journal of Threat Assessment and Management, 7(3-4), 135–156. (Lankford, A., & Cowan, R. G. (2020)) ( https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2Ftam0000151 )

… Cowan writes of their research they “…closely analyzed public mass shooters who attacked in the United States from 1966 to 2019 and found that correlates of mental illness were approximately equally common among perpetrators, whether they had been coded as mentally ill or not.”

Forensic psychiatrists James L. Knoll IV, MD, and George D. Annas, MD, MPH, of SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse New York, both leading authorities on the mental health aspects of mass shooters, summed it up for the issue for the mental health community various studies on various aspects in terms of mass shooters…. Although mass shooters may not meet DSM-5 criteria for a recognized disorder, “they do have an ill-defined trouble of the mind for which the mental health field has no immediate, quick-acting ‘treatment,’” – in other words, mass shooters do have mental illness driving them but not something clearly defined and for which the mental health community basically has no treatment.

Mass shooting response by Police? Not a solution, period!

    One word: Uvalde
    One word: Columbine
    One word: Parkland
One word: Florida (Pulse night club)
Two words: Las Vegas (Route 91 Harvest music festival)

and even more words… We could list every one but in reality its all of them to which police have responded.

    Reason?

Each police response gave the shooter exactly what they needed – and that is a minimum of ~3 minutes kill-zone dominance from time of entry before they are engaged by police. A lot of people can be shot in 3 minutes starting at shooter entry no matter if its a hand gun or rifle or shotgun or single shot or bolt action or semi-auto. If they shot anyone during that ~3 minutes or not is irrelevant – the fact they had this time without being stopped by police engagement gives them ~3 minutes kill-zone dominance and the choice is all up to them. This increases the likely hood of injury or death by around 80%.

History and fact has shown that in areas where an armed law abiding ordinary citizen is allowed to be armed and is present and employs DGU to engage the shooter quickly the shooter has (on average) 15 seconds or less kill-zone dominance time resulting in less to none injury or death and decreases the likely hood of injury or death by around 94% overall.

But, will an armed law abiding ordinary citizen allowed to be armed in an area and present employ DGU to engage the shooter quickly? No one knows, but we do know that police either don’t or don’t do it quickly enough and more people are injured or killed as a result than when an armed law abiding ordinary citizens allowed to be armed in the area and is present and employs DGU to engage the shooter quickly does it. But overall, when it has happened, an armed law abiding ordinary citizens allowed to be armed in the area and is present and employs DGU to engage the shooter quickly has happened a lot more quickly than waiting for police to do it.

Not one law abiding armed citizen killed those kids. Mental illness was the driver for those deaths, not the existence of a gun. But the shooter had help, they were lured and facilitated by you and your anti-gun buddies. You killed those kids Mr. Young, you and your anti-gun idiots with your depraved fanaticism. Y’all lured and facilitated these mentally ill people by your anti-gun laws making these areas ‘gun free zones’, places where these mentally ill people would have the best chance of success because it being a ‘gun free zone’ made it less likely there would be someone there that could stop them quickly and definitively by equivalence of force application with firearms. Ya don’t see the police finally show up without firearms do you? Y’all killed these kids, y’all just did it by proxy using your depraved fanaticism for anti-gun laws.

    • We’ve found out if we drag our feet long enough the mentally I’ll person eventually runs out of ammunition or kills himself.
Officer safety, we are here to take the report, draw chalk lines and prevent parents from risking their lives to save their children.

    • To the paranoid Booger Brain

quote———-Not one law abiding armed citizen killed those kids. Mental illness was the driver for those deaths, not the existence of a gun——-quote

Mass shootings take place easily because of the availability of weapons of mass destruction to mentally ill people. Until we prevent mentally ill people from getting guns the slaughter will go on and on. The only way to do this is with Universal Background Checks like all other civilized countries have had for decades.

And I might add as long as we have the prostitute Republicans in power Capitalvania will never get affordable health care either.

As one can see the Far Right Fanatics have two worst enemies, themselves and the Republicans.

Try context for a change. What I posted was this:

“History and fact has shown that in areas where an armed law abiding ordinary citizen is allowed to be armed and is present and employs DGU to engage the shooter quickly the shooter has (on average) 15 seconds or less kill-zone dominance time resulting in less to none injury or death and decreases the likely hood of injury or death by around 94% overall.”

You only partially quoted and did so out of context.

“None of the above would have taken place without weapons of mass destruction. During the London Bridge incident the terrorists were denied weapons of mass destruction and after they attacked a bar with knives the bar patrons beat the shit out of them with chairs and broken beer bottles. Once again try context for a change. What I wrote was this:

“Mass shooting response by Police? Not a solution, period!

Then again try context for a change, when you did this:

Read back and apply some context instead of your delusional confirmation biased based up pure BS.

        • During the London Bridge incident the terrorists were denied weapons of mass destruction and after they attacked a bar with knives the bar patrons beat the shit out of them with chairs and broken beer bottles

During an 8-minute period on June 3, 2017, eight people were killed as a band of terrorists drove a van through a pedestrian walkway on the London Bridge. The men then exited, armed with pink steak knives, and proceeded to slash and stab people in a nearby market.
The attack was the third to take place in London in 2017.
Just minutes before 10 pm a van filled with three attackers inconspicuously crossed the London Bridge twice. When it reached the end of the bridge the second time, the van made a U-turn, mounting the pavement and mowing down pedestrians.
At the end of the bridge, the terrorists crashed into a nearby pub, where they exited with knives taped to their wrists and fake bombs strapped to their bodies. The men ran from the vehicle, slashing and stabbing through the Borough Market as they screamed “This is for Allah.” They randomly entered bars and restaurants, stabbing whoever came into their path. People tried to fight them off, throwing crates, chairs and glasses, but in the end, 48 people were injured. By 10:15 all three terrorists had been killed by authorities. (If just ONE citizen had been armed with a firearm much of that carnage could have been avoided)… NOW, dacian, TRY TO LIE YOUR WAY OUT OF THAT!!!

2019: A man who stabbed two people to death and wounded three others in a “terror-related” attack was shot dead by police on London Bridge after he was held down by members of the public.

As usual you leave out pertinent information (like EIGHT dead and FORTY-EIGHT injured WITH “KNIVES”) … A bit of honesty could help retain whatever credibility you might have left….. Just kidding YOU have NO credibility.

      • @dacian

You killed those kids too, you by your advocating for laws that keep gun free zones up ensured those kids were defenseless. You along with the rest of your delusional depraved indifference and fanaticism anti-gun, y’all killed these kids, y’all just did it by proxy using your depraved fanaticism for anti-gun laws.

      • dacian, how do you reconcile the fact that guns are inanimate objects and don’t make people do anything?

        Once again:

        In the Journal of Threat Assessment and Management, 7(3-4), 135–156. (Lankford, A., & Cowan, R. G. (2020)) ( https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2Ftam0000151 )

… Cowan writes of their research they “…closely analyzed public mass shooters who attacked in the United States from 1966 to 2019 and found that correlates of mental illness were approximately equally common among perpetrators, whether they had been coded as mentally ill or not.”

Not one law abiding armed citizen killed those kids. Mental illness was the driver for those deaths, not the existence of a gun.

Once again you demonstrate that you do not understand what a ‘Universal Background Check’ or any ‘background check’ is.

100% of mass shooters in the last 50 years would have, at some point, passed or bypassed a ‘background check’, universal’ or other wise – even if such a check included a ‘mental health’ thing. 100% of mass shooters in the last 50 years that lived have cited they also had alternative plans to commit mass killing using other non-firearm weapons in the event they were detected and their firearms removed before they could enact their plans or in case they could not get a firearm – they would just delay their plans for a bit to re-plan. Mental illness was driving them to kill, not the accessibility of firearms.

        • There are thousands of incidents where an armed law abiding ordinary citizen allowed to be armed in an area and was present and employed DGU to engage the shooter stopped mass shootings.

Unfortunately, most were suppressed from widespread public knowledge by anti-gun interest collusion with the media and use of biased ‘definitions’ intended to exclude anything contrary to the anti-gun narrative. For example, MSM (mostly) and anti-gun do not count an armed law abiding ordinary citizen as stopping a mass shooter unless the person actually shoots the mass shooter. The problem with this is that many mass shootings do no actually happen because an armed law abiding ordinary citizen brandished and showed the means and will to shoot the mass shooter and instead the mass shooter either ran off or (sometimes) simply committed suicide and in some cases simply surrendered without a shot being fired but the mass shooting was stopped but because the shooter never fired a shot because of being confronted by the armed law abiding ordinary citizen its not a ‘mass shooting’ thus no credit for stopping it goes to the an armed law abiding ordinary citizen when in reality they did stop a mass shooting. Anti-gun and the media is all about the blood, they do not care that a mass shooting was stopped from beginning and lives saved by a an armed law abiding ordinary citizen – it does not fit their narrative, they want the victims, they want the blood and so do you dacian.

Yet even in your own link from 2018, they do not acknowledge the more than 400 incidents nationwide in 2018 of mass shooters being stopped before it developed into a mass shooting without a shot being fired because of the shooter being confronted by the armed law abiding ordinary citizen and the shooter ran off due to that and did not conduct a mass shooting, but none the less the armed law abiding ordinary citizen did indeed stop a mass shooter.

Then sometimes mass shootings don’t start out as mass shootings but evolve into them or will evolve into them and its stopped by an armed law abiding ordinary citizen … for example, what was going to evolve into a probable mass shooting at a dentist office in Colonial Heights, Tennessee was stopped by an armed law abiding ordinary citizen and the shooter even, indirectly, credited the armed law abiding ordinary citizen with stopping him > https://www.timesnews.net/news/local-news/witnesses-describe-horror-of-kingsport-dental-office-shooting/article_b384c420-4a77-5124-8965-c2ab90ceed5f.html < the shooter who wanted to die said to police “You all wouldn’t be dealing with me right now if hero hadn’t stepped in.” —- but stopping what would have most likely evolved into a mass shooting the armed law abiding ordinary citizen did in fact stop.

      • Falsehood: In mass shootings armed citizens have only stopped mass shootings less than 3% of the time.

The ostensible purpose of gun control legislation is to reduce firearm deaths and injuries. The restriction of access to firearms will make criminals unable to use guns to shoot people. Gun control laws will also reduce the number of accidental shootings. Those are the desired effects, at least in theory. It is important, however, for conscientious policymakers to consider not only the stated goals of gun control regulations, but the actual results that they produce.

What would be the effect of depriving ordinary, law‐abiding citizens from keeping arms for self‐defense? One result seems certain: the law‐abiding would be at a distinct disadvantage should criminals acquire guns from underground markets. After all, it is simply not possible for police officers to get to every scene where they are urgently needed.

Outside of criminology circles, relatively few people can reasonably estimate how often people use guns to fend off criminal attacks. If policymakers are truly interested in harm reduction, they should pause to consider how many crimes — murders, rapes, assaults, robberies — are thwarted each year by ordinary persons with guns. The estimates of defensive gun use range between the tens of thousands to as high as two million each year.

This paper uses a collection of news reports of self‐defense with guns over an eight‐year period to survey the circumstances and outcomes of defensive gun uses in America.

Federal and state lawmakers often oppose repealing or amending laws governing the ownership or carrying of guns. That opposition is typically based on assumptions that the average citizen is incapable of successfully employing a gun in self‐defense or that possession of a gun in public will tempt people to violence in “road rage” or other contentious situations. Those assumptions are false. The vast majority of gun owners are ethical and competent. That means tens of thousands of crimes are prevented each year by ordinary citizens with guns.

“In mass shootings armed citizens have only stopped mass shootings less than 3% of the time.”

        False

Evidently you don’t even understand the context of your own link.

  29. Mr. Young conveniently omits that mass shootings most often happen in one of his favorite places, a “gun free zone”. Mexico, Honduras, and other South American, European, African and far Eastern countries are a examples of the gun free zone taken to its tragic, violent conclusion.

Furthermore, Mr. Young apparently believes that the “broader public” isn’t interested in owning firearms. With approximately 393 million firearms owned by 50 million households, I think his “broader public” is well armed.

Traumatized students and parents are victims of the moral panic about school shooting promoted by gun-grabbers and their media enablers, combined with the asinine security theater of lockdown drills. Blame should be placed where it belongs, on those promoting the fear. It’s not gun rights supporters who are over hyping the threat to students.

  37. just pretend that the 1+ million times EVERY year that armed US citizens STOP a crime. Suicidal people always find a way to kill themselves and since the world is so overcrowded, good riddance to anyone who wants to reduce the overcrowding. A lot of suicides are people who are in a lot of pain and death is a welcomed surcease. That’s most of the “gun-deaths” about half of the remaining 40% of the total gun deaths are pos’s killing another pos criminal (good riddance) and a big chunk of the remaining 20% o the total is civilians or cops killing some pos in mid-crime. A small number of “gun-deaths” are accidents. So about 10% of the total gun deaths are actual murders. that’s say, 2500 people per year, vs a 10x that many saved by somebody having a gun. It’s a horrible thing, but the ratio clearly comes out in favor of us keeping our guns Statism killed 100 million people in the 20th century and all gun grabbers are statists.

  38. Quentin, about 5% of the counties in the US are a killing field. It’s a wonder more of us simple red necks in PA aren’t killing each other since there is no testing or training and you can get a CCW with only a background check and $25 for 4 or 5 years. Since we probably have more guns per capita than the 5% of the counties with the most murders, seems like the problem might be elsewhere.

In my best Sam Kinison from Back to School, “SAY IT, SAY IT.” You won’t say it Quentin, you’re too much of a coward to tell the truth and too stupid to understand the statistics.

  39. When you want to understand issues, you look at all the factors, not just the one that makes you feel inadequate.

For about 170 years with the 2nd Amendment we experienced very few mass killings with firearms. That includes a time period where Gatling Guns, canons and true machineguns were bought, sold, and bartered with background checks, the ATF or even a check of an ID. If firearms were the root cause then why did these things not happen until after:

    The NFA of 1934

    The GCA of 1968

AWB ban and countless other gun control laws

Tell me Mr Young, or any of those who believe his premise, why are these killings such a recent issue? Why didn’t this occur when firearms were easier to get?

Now explain why violence, to include mass casualty events with firearms are concentrated in certain areas. Do you know the zip code theory to casualty rates? How many zip codes do you find the majority of violence?

Impress me with facts, not hyperbole, incomplete data or outright lies.

  40. The more Young opens his/her/its mouth, proves he/she/it wants to live in a “MARXIST” country!!!!

  41. More guns means more deaths? If that were true, I should be surrounded by cemeteries and piles of bodies. I’ve been collecting firearms for more than 50 years. Everything from matchlocks to MSR’s Many of the firearms in my collection are former military weapons.
As to the crap about AR’s being weapons of war, exactly what type of firearm hasn’t been used as a weapon of war?
Get rid of the firearms in the US and either the drug cartels running the human and drug smuggling now, or our own enterprising gangs/criminals would be sending firearms and ammo into the country by the shipping container load.

  42. Perhaps we should send him statistics from The Crime Prevention Resource Center to confirm his stupidity.

  43. Thanks for taking the time to inform us of what we’ve already known for a long time. It IS important however to see who the lunatic gun haters there are whom are finally out of the closet.

  44. Quentin Young claims the United States “is a killing field without parallel in the developed world.” Relatives of 6,000,000 Jews killed in Germany would vehemently disagree.
Young’s Holocaust denialism is obscene and outrageous!
