No, this won’t be a recurring feature. We promise. It’s just that this has been a rather eventful week when it comes to wanna-be gangstas and their interactions with the criminal justice system. First, there was the ballisticly-named rapper, Gunplay, who gave himself up to the po-po in Miami on armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault charges. This, after his crew had gotten into a backstage brawl at the BET Hip Hop Awards last month with the boys from 50 Cent’s posse. Kinda like going to a fight and having a hockey game break out. Then, a little farther to the west . . .
Nelly was cruising along I-10 toward his next gig with the St. Lunatics when their tour bus happened upon a Border Patrol checkpoint outside El Paso:
During a routine check of U.S. citizenship the inspecting Border Patrol agent, a canine detected the presence of concealed humans and/or controlled substances emitting from the seams of the main entrance of the vehicle and requested the driver to pull into the secondary inspection lane for further inspection, according to a Hudspeth County Sheriff’s news release.
The ultimate take: a .45, a little heroin and over ten pounds of weed. Nelly, of course, was shocked, shocked, to find that one of his crew had brought drugs and a firearm on his party barge:
Nelly claims that he had no idea these contraband items were brought onto the bus.
“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning,” he said in a statement… Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”
Good to know the main man wasn’t involved. We know it can be disillusioning to hear that guns, drugs and violence sometimes swirl around the otherwise wholesome hip hop scene. But we report, you deride.
heroine? ten points of weed?
Ugh. Saturday morning Cardinal game hangover. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
What are you all complaining about? Hip Hop is such nice music; it’s all about justice and love and beauty and–oh, yeah, drugs and hookers and killing and gangs.
And cannibalism: http://rapnewsdirect.com/0-202-257866-00.html
Please! =/ Hip Hop is a as broad a music genre as Rock and/or Roll, sir. You clearly don’t even realize the scope of your gross generalization. You probably meant Gansta Rap specifically, and while I don’t expect the average poster on TTAG to be familiar with the sub-genres of various types of music, I would expect them to be more sensitive regarding the use of said “gross generalizations”…in general.
A little “heroine”? Who was it? Laura Croft? Cat Woman? Pauline, from “The Perils of Pauline”? And why was she hiding with the weed in the bus?
Damn! Beat me to it.
these guys are all scum but why are border patrol agents pulling over citizens and not oh idk watching the actual border?! were becoming a police state to stop losers from killing themselves with drugs???? even the illegal alien stuff there only here because americans are hiring them by the millions, this country is so schizophrenic.
Such fine examples this bunch of entertainers sets for their young fans.
Hey, I’m a responsible, productive member of society and I like ghetto rap music…
Hinshelworld. Who’s example do you think these kids are following? Yours or the bling covered “artist”?
The bling covered artist. Most definitely. It’s sad but date how dem hoods roll.
Apparently the “heroin(e)” was actually MDMA…
First Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman split up, and now this. All I can say is, I’m totally disillusioned by the behavior of our greatest stars.
(Wanna-be Ganster Felony Stupid)
Ten POUNDS of pot??? I hope he doesn’t try to claim that it was his personal stash. I don’t know what 10 pounds of pot is worth, but I’d bet it’s more than I make in a year.
Weed isn’t the problem. Gun is fine as long as it’s legit. Heroin is bad children. 😉
