Warne USL Scope Level Long Range Precision Shooting

If you’re a long-range shooter, you probably understand the problem of cant. Tilting your rifle a degree or two to either side of level negatively affects accuracy. The longer the distance, the more the problem is magnified.

Even a degree or two can make the difference between a hit or a miss when precision matters most. Check out this NSSF video for a clear explanation of the problem.

There are plenty of bubble levels out there to help you stay plumb, but most of them extend out to the left of your scope and stay there. But Warne, the scope mount people, have a much more elegant solution. Their new USL (Universal Scope Level) is a ring-mounted retractable level that gets the bubble out of your way when you want. Here’s their press release:

Warne USL Level Long Range Precision Shooting

Precision long range shooting has grown in popularity over the last several years. New technology has allowed shooters to successfully engage targets at distances previously thought impossible. A level reticle is vital for success at longer ranges, so the product development team at Warne have designed a Universal Scope Level that attaches to any scope tube.

The Warne USL is unique from other levels because of its ability to deploy the level from an aluminum housing for use or stow, keeping the unit safe from being snagged when not in use.

Made of 6061 aluminum, the USL is available in 1″, 30mm, 34mm and 35mm sizes and is ambidextrous while weighing only .9 oz.

MSRP is $99.99 and is available wherever Warne products are sold.

  1. If a level scope is that critical, why don’t scopes come with a bubble in the scope’s eyepiece?

    • I know US Optics has that as an option, and their stuff is awesome. Not cheap, as top-end glass tends to be…

    • They used to. Springfield Armory used to have a model with a built in bubble level.
Not enough magnification for these old eyes.
I’ve got a bubble level that Tyler gave me before that Clay Hergert precision rifle course over a year ago.
      Invaluable.
It really helped in keeping “cant” out of the equation.
The more variables one can keep out of long range shooting, the better.
A good rest, less touching of the rifle, a light trigger… Good stuff!

  2. A level is that important and some of the newer electronic scopes have levels built in

I highy doubt a retractable level will be repeatable enough to be useful

  3. Before ironicatbest cut his guts out in Japan because he feared the blood filled streets of the U.S.A.. He would have thought this is a pretty neat idea.
