Democrat: A gun ban is not ‘feasible right now’ – Heck of a job, Alabama. This is what you’re stuck with. A Senator who’s only against an assault weapons ban because he doesn’t think it’s possible right now . . .
Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.) said on Sunday that he does not support an assault weapons ban and does not believe a gun ban can pass Congress right now.
Asked by “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos whether he would support an assault weapons ban like his colleague Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Jones said it’s not feasible and they should instead focus on policy goals that can be accomplished.
“We’ve got to get done what I think can be done right now. Let’s reach across and within our own party to do those things that we can do, and that to me is where I want to focus,” Jones said. “I really don’t believe that a gun ban is feasible right now.”
Somebody had to say it. https://t.co/iKXJQYaRCx

Finally! Republican Senate Candidate Goes On Offensive: Calls For Legalizing Machine Guns & Repealing National Firearms Act – A breath of fresh air . . .
A US Senate candidate from Missouri has ruffled a lot of feather in both political parties, but for good reason and good cause after he called for “going on the offensive” and legalizing machine guns and repealing the National Firearms Act.
American producer, writer, political activist, and commentator Austin Petersen is fed up with hearing the whining from the little Communists and the big ones in our country as they attack our God-given rights and our Constitution.
He has watched as they have advanced their agenda in DC and in the states and wants to stop playing defense with those who attack the Second Amendment and start playing offense.
London murder rate higher than New York as police investigate 31st stabbing in capital this year – We’re sure all those dead Londoners are much happier being hacked to death than they’d be if they’d been shot. Meanwhile, law abiding brits can’t being a gun to a knife fight . . .
Crime statistics also suggest you are almost six times more likely to be burgled in the British capital than in the US city, and one and a half times more likely to fall victim to a robbery.
London also has almost three times the number of reported rapes, although differences in the way the figures are recorded is thought to impact on the overall statistics.
The Met Commissioner, Cressida Dick, has vowed to tackle the epidemic of knife crime across the capital and has suggested that social media could be responsible for street violence.
Gun Culture Is My Culture. And I Fear for What It Has Become. – The Times digs up another pearl clutter . . .
Last summer I drove back to Charlotte to visit my father for his birthday. While I was there, I went into a Cabela’s store in Fort Mill, S.C., to buy him a new depth finder for his fishing boat. After I found what I was looking for, I headed across the store to see if there were any good deals on ammo.
There were floor displays of AR-15s, and probably a hundred or more other rifles and shotguns for anyone to walk up and hold. I watched a kid about 8 or 9 pick up one of those ARs and shoulder it to the center of his chest. He held the gun awkwardly, cocked his head hard to the side, squeezed one eye closed to aim and dry-fired the weapon. I watched two men, presumably his father and grandfather, smile and laugh, then break out their cellphones to snap a few pictures.
I remembered how when I was his age, I used to love going to the sporting-goods section of Walmart to look at fishing lures and camouflage clothes. I’d walk over near the register and push the manual turntable on the curio display to look at all the rifles and shotguns. There were usually a few big game guns — a gray stock Remington 783 in .30-06, maybe a Marlin 336 lever action — a couple of pump shotguns, a single shot .410 or 20-gauge. There were always Ruger 10/22s and Marlin Model 60s, the .22LRs kids unwrapped when their grandfathers gave them their first rifles for a birthday or Christmas. There were always guns, but nothing like the assault weapons that line the shelves today.
Leaving the most vulnerable defenseless – Why do “progressives” and the NAACP want black people to die? . . .
Democrats don’t seem to trust poor blacks with guns. It is something that we have seen since at least the end of the Civil War. Yet, it is poor blacks, who are the most likely victims of violent crime who would benefit the most from being able to defend themselves. Unfortunately, this month, the NAACP president Derrick Johnson came out for gun control laws that would leave the most vulnerable defenseless.
The NAACP has become one of the most irrelevant civil rights organizations ever since they abandoned their original mission of civil rights and became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party. They now embrace a liberal ideology, including gun control, that is not in the best interest of black civil rights. Name the last piece of relevant civil rights improvements advanced by this organization since Brown v. Board of Education school desegregation case.
But where do they stand on gun control pic.twitter.com/yT9MBJdQRD

The guy that went into Cabela’s is pansified Fudd POS. None of them will ever admit or understand that when it comes to disarmament, it all starts somewhere (bumpstocks), and will end with their prized shotguns and bolt action deer rifles being taken.
You are correct…
Quite often, firearms owners are their own worst enemies. The duck hunters don’t like the AR-15 “black rifles” so they see no problem if attempts are made to ban them. The traditional rifle owners don’t like machine guns, so they have no problem with them being legislated out of existence. Some pistol owners see nothing wrong with certain long guns being outlawed just as some rifle owners would have no problem seeing pistols banned.
Friends, ALL firearms advocates must “hang together” and realize that an assault on ANY means of firearms ownership and self-defense is an assault on ALL forms of firearms ownership and self-defense.
There is absolutely NO ROOM for complacency among ANY Second Amendment supporters. An attack on one is an attack on ALL…
ALL firearms laws are unconstitutional on their face. Imagine the hue and cry if “reasonable” restrictions were placed on First Amendment activities, especially with the “mainstream media”. The Second Amendment is clear–what part of “shall not be infringed” do politicians and the media not understand…of course, they understand full well…it’s part of their communist agenda…
This is 100% accurate.
Do you think for one second they’ll “stop” with ARs?
It’ll be semi auto pistols next! Those kill more people than anyone!
Then, well, aren’t DA revolvers functionally identical to semi-auto pistols? Pull the trigger and bang? I can already hear that on CNN…
You can pretty much repeat this til we’re down to black powder. “Common sense” is just “the first step”.
They want all guns. Never forget that. And even if that stopped school shootings, do you think that people as insane as that idiot in Florida or the other one in Nevada won’t just make explosives?
Or maybe get an illegal gun from that giant open southern border the left also wants…
I’ve never been so politically angry. The guy I voted for is a villain because he committed adultery so I should vote for people who want me to be an unarmed consumer-citizen. I’m reminded of Smokey and the Bandit, “Do the letters “FO” mean anything to you?”
That NYT Fudd’s tome is like an ode to the old time 1960’s-1980’s fudds who happily nodded along with gun control who imagined gun control as enforcing some sort of exclusive club benefit that only they were good enough to enjoy. I actually held my nose and clicked on the NYT link to see what was written and I was greeted by a veritable wall of meandering text making me he think he’s an author that gets paid by the word. The part quoted here is not even the most fuddish part. He also had exceedingly poor taste in friends (riding around in cars where you know there are loaded firearms and Schedule 1 drugs seems obviously stupid). He needed friend control more than he’s ever needed gun control.
The Remington 783 was intro’d only a few years ago — 2012, 2013. So the author is either 14 or misstated the rifle model he saw in his youth. Either way, he’s full of craaaaap.
I noted the same thing. He also claimed to watch somebody dry fire off the rack at Cabelas, every Cabelas I’ve ever been to employed trigger locks making the act of dry firing an absolute impossibility. This dude is swimming in it.
Don’t you think that with these obvious mistakes, he isn’t a gun owner at all and hasn’t set foot in a Cabelas since he was a child? I wouldn’t put it past the NYT to put in a false flag op-ed piece to fortify their position against black rifles.
Exactly. When has one ever walked into a Cabela’s and been able to pick up any rifle and pose for a picture? They are all behind the counter, purposefully beyond reach. This guy is a straight up liar. It’s what democrat, liberal progressive socialists marxists (did I get them all) do.
Yet, it’s crap that this that people read and actually believe. “Falsehood flies, and the truth comes limping after it,” said Jonathan Swift. He was all too right. We spend all of our time tied up in knots trying to discredit these falsehoods. We are on defense. We need to be on offense. Use the gun grabbers tactics. Except, we don’t have to lie.
“He also claimed to watch somebody dry fire off the rack at Cabelas, every Cabelas I’ve ever been to employed trigger locks making the act of dry firing an absolute impossibility.”
Well, to some people, watching an 8 or 9 year old kid say, “BANG!” is dry firing.
Batterycap, at the Cabela’s I go to you can just pick up a AR and AK rifle in the short Magpul aisle. They’re decked out with all the respective Magpul furniture. Of course they have painted orange tips on them and presumably aren’t functional rifles. That’s as close as I’ve seen.
The Cabela’s closest to me does in fact have several racks of new and used rifles out for customers to fondle without hassle. I imagine any Cabela’s big enough to afford the staffer that stands nearby to answer questions would have the same setup.
I call bullshit on his story. I’ve been to a bunch of Cabela’s and not a one of them has gun floor displays that you can dry fire unless you grab a worker and ask to see a specific gun.
Every one of those guns has a trigger lock and usually they have the action zip tied so the gun is inoperable. In the case of AR’s the zip tie runs through the ejection port, down the mag well and around. The gun can’t go into battery.
You are absolutely right. If you look on the Google listing and photos for the Fort Mills Cabela’s, you can get a couple of good looks of the firearms sales areas. The customer-accessible long guns are all trigger locked and zip tied in the photos from 2016 and 2017, and the author claims to have been there in summer 2017.
I do believe Mr. Joy is a fiction writer…and if he fabulates about an easily disproven story of a little kid dry firing an AR-15 in a Cabela’s (not that NYT would ever bother to spend 5 minutes fact checking someone who panders to their biases), who knows about the rest of this cat’s stories.
AND the used rack has sign “no one under 18 can touch”. That’s as good as a progturd feel good law” in stopping behavior.
I can swing by there and see. The Cabelas he’s talking about is ~10 mins from my office. I go to the Culver’s right across the street from it all the time for lunch. Their burgers are amazing.
More likely the guy is a creation of a anti gun pr firm like bluestatedigital.com (the puppet strings between Bloomberg and Everytown Gun Control). Could be there are “pro gun” people that know so little of guns to not have recognized that ar15s are the modern sporting rifle. SERIOUSLY doubt it. Of course who expected a socialist throwback from the 60’s to gallump out of the hills of VT to wreak havoc on Hillary? The AR is such a great ergonomic gun that only Joe Biden would think a double barrel side by side [email protected] is superior. It’s archaic like not trusting new fangled indoor plumbing over a outhouse.
He’s also a liar who gets his gun model names from a 3 minute internet search. Remington 783s have only been around for about 5 years, so he wouldn’t be looking at them as a kid if he was legally buying ammo in a gun store recently.
However, the real issue is the experience. The father ought to share the outdoors, lessons of responsibility and independence, and the experience of learning marksmanship with his son. Bottom line, the whole thing could be more about learning and development than about the shape or color of a particular rifle.
That entire rather long article was ‘here are my gun credentials’, just he could say as a figure of ‘authority’, BAN AWs.
Yet another hand-selected wanker. His pretend fireman buddy should have told him it was time to leave and not bother dropping by anymore. “Friends” that are antis are NOT your friends.
This whole article reeks of fiction and planned emotional arguments.
Law abiding Brits can’t even bring a knife to a knife fight. If I recall correctly, (I’m not a solicitor) if you defend yourself, you can be charged if you hurt your attacker!
Pocket knives are easily purchased, but illegal to carry for the average citizen. Any method of self-defense must be proportional to–but not greater than–the force being used to effectuate the attack.
Just wear a full suit of armor all day, or is that illegal too? (probably)
Can’t do that, it would offend all the new immigrants, a reminder of those horrible crusades where Christians in armor just randomly attacked the poor, peaceful Muslims.
They can are are being doused with disfiguring acid, and most of these attacks are on females, courtesy of the poor downtrodden Muslim influx into Great Britain. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-40604002
UK peasants cannot carry *any* device for the purpose of self-defense. It’s not just about guns or knives.
More of this “I am a gun owner, and I am pro gun control” crap from the fools on the left…
“Finally! Republican Senate Candidate Goes On Offensive: Calls For Legalizing Machine Guns & Repealing National Firearms Act –”
How do I give this guy money… Oh, wait already did. Want to see Dr. Ward follow his example on saying this publicly.
“… There were always guns, but nothing like the assault weapons that line the shelves today.”
Bwahaaa haaa haaaa! Haaa!
And you claim to be pro-gun!
You made me shoot beer out of my nose laughing so hard!
Hey wait a minute! Didn’t some dude in Canada(eh) shoot up parliament with a lowly levergun? I bet it had a wood stock too…That’s not a knife_THAT’S a knife😏
I doubt the FUDD’s story because he says the child dry fired the AR.
Cabelas has trigger locks on every floor gun. That’s their policy. That alone tells me he’s lying.
Second, almost everyone I’ve ever seen handle an AR for the first time, that also hasn’t seen one handled before – doesn’t know how to charge it. The T-handle is simply unlike most other rifles. A kid under 10? Get out of here with that.
That’s what I was thinking, all the guns in the racks on the floor have trigger locks. Now the guns behind the counter on the other hand don’t.
It’s very likely that a salesman would pull the handle to ensure it was clear before letting a customer touch it. That’s not even counting how many games have AR platform guns or the idea the kid played with the charging handle because it was a moving bit. That’s not really odd. The part about Cabelas having locks against that is though.
Every non-locked gun at Cabela’s I’ve seen (back when they had the used gun counter, anyway) is chamber checked by staff every time it is handed to or received back from a customer.
“Oh God, a kid release spring tension in an inert-mechanism! The horror…(the horror)”
Like most idiots, my guess is this story refers to an Airsoft Rifle on display, or is completely fabricated. An unlocked gun on a rack accessible to the public would be quickly sabotaged by a psychotic anti-gunner, as has happened at gun shows in years past.
Will an employee even hand a gun to someone under 18 to hold?
Heck, they don’t even let you touch a handgun if you have an out of state driver’s license at the Cabela’s I go to.
Austin Petersen is the candidate ALL gun owners should be supporting!!
The only one with balls to make things right and stand up for what the 2nd Amendment is meant for. He is who the Libertarian party should have nominated not that crackpot Johnson.
Oh and boohoo to the poor widdle Fudd, he can FOAD!!
The Libertarian Party was plainly and simply co-opted by Democrats last go-around. I’d be interested to see the behind-the-scenes of exactly how this happened and how Hillary/Schultz were responsible (I mean, who else could it possibly be?). But the fact it happened should give any Libertarian supporters tremendous pause about staying with that group. Johnson was pleading for his voters to pull for Hillary instead of himself by election day, for Christ’s sake, and after choosing a straight-up gun grabber for a running mate & agitating for unconditional open-borders (even Libertarians should recognize how disastrous that would be without first dismantling the welfare state drawing them here in the first place)
No way was the kid “dry firing” guns on the floor. Note that in this picture every gun has a trigger lock. I can’t tell if the guns are locked up but you can absolutely see trigger locks. I’m guessing if someone takes liberties with one fact he probably takes them with others.
The Cabelas story is false because Cabelas has trigger locks on all of their rifle in open display. No way that kid just picked one up and dry fired. And for the record, my kids have been shooting since they were 8 years-old. They’ve been taught to respect firearms and how to properly handle firearms with adult supervision.
I’m seeing a lot of these comments so just jumping in on a random one… the Cabela’s nearest me has racks of new and used rifles out for customers to fondle, and very few of them have trigger locks.
The real story isn’t the London crime is going up, it’s that NYC crime has remained strangely low for a city of it’s size with current trends. I suspect they’re still coasting on the work done about a decade ago to throw a lot of violent criminals in prison and break up gangs.
Uhhhhhmmmmm That’s No Black Guns for people, thankyou.
Perhaps eating more Tide pods will do the trick, rather like another glass of the KoolAid.
Snorting condoms is the new craze. It still has the potential for a Darwin Award, or at least an honorable mention.
Being asphyxiated by a condom or poisoned by a tide-pod. Which is preferable?
Fun fact; both Jones and the other allegedly pro-gun Democrat Lamb in Pennsylvania have *both* already turned tail and fallen in lockstep with gun control efforts.
For all the “they’re the same party” “there are, too, *some* pro-gun Democrats out there” types, you are morons. Just because there are Republican turncoats (that need to pay very badly at the polls this year, even if it costs the good ones a temporary majority should bad ones make it through the primary) doesn’t mean the party has nothing to offer us.
Democrats have committed themselves to opposing civil rights, again. Not sure why this should surprise anybody. On the gun issue especially, they are unanimous at the federal-representation level (please, name even a single Democrat that votes in DC that holds pro-gun views and doesn’t vote against us every.single.time. Reid was the closest there was to that type, and he was such a scumbag otherwise it hardly counted)
It is interesting to see which part of the opinion piece bothered each of us. For most of you, it was the likely false Cabela story. For me, it was the guy’s notion that a .308 hunting rifle is somehow less capable of killing a human at 600 yards than an AR, and his overall smugness. He owned a Sub 2K but has “problems” with other black rifles? I am a bit “triggered” by this guy. His penchant for carry pieces, actual high powered rifles and bad, druggy friends on the one hand and high and mighty opinions about other legal gun owners on the other makes me wonder if he shouldn’t be on the list to have his “sniper rifles, crowd-killer shotguns, and concealed weapons of death” confiscated pending a mental health evaluation and probable inpatient commitment. As I write this, I become more convinced that you all are correct – the entire thing is a fiction written by a bad writer, bought and paid for by the NY Times.
I think you mean, “pearl clutcher .”
A quick wiki search shows the guy’s written for the Huffington Post, NPR and others of that ilk. Isn’t that some kind of clue?
A public lynching is not feasible at this time.
Burning Alabama to the ground in order to destroy everything that might be important to anyone there is not feasible at this time.
Hunting communist (D) for pelts is not feasible at this time.
Bulldozing the UN into the East River is not feasible at this time. http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/04/03/u-n-easter-message-migration-inevitable-desirable-necessary/
NY Times shame on you for perpetuating and proving the Fake News narrative. That article was such drivel, erroneous on so many levels. Author overcompensating by naming every retailer, gun make and model to flex his bonafides as a “real” gun owner. The ignorant will hold him up as proof of gun owners screaming for gun control.
Doug Jones was a Black Swan event. An atrocious anomaly caused by the Repubs utter lack of a credible candidate. His term will expire soon and Alabama will have a pro-gun conservative in the Senate again.
