Texas Tech University Student Diana Durkin’s TSA Gun Finger Hassle Goes Viral

Texas Tech University football team’s mascot is the Masked Rider. Texas Tech fans often salute each other with a finger gun (evoking their motto “Wreck ‘em”).  Standing in a security line at Houston’s William P. Hobby airport, Texas Tech University Student Diana Durkin (above) flashed her finger gun at a man in a Texas Tech hoodie. A TSA agent called her over. Ms. Durkin immediately did what any good millennial would . . .

She Tweeted about it. Even as she was being interrogated. Followed by a pat-down and a screening. And . . . that’s it.

For reasons that have nothing to do with her beauty (obvs.) and everything to do with completely understandable contempt for the TSA’s blue-shirted goons, the Tweet went viral.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with TSA agents asking airline passengers questions based on their behavior in line, whether spoken or non-verbal. I mean, if we’re going down the “show me your papers” route, we might as well use interrogation techniques to ID potential bad guys and gals. amiright?

  2. What if the flash hider was adjustable like an m4 stock? It would still be required to be permanently attached but in its fully extended position meet the 16in barrel requirements.

  3. Have a glock 19
    Have a FN 509

The 509 trigger was / is different.

At first I disliked it but after I got some trigger time I began to really like it…a lot.

It breaks clean…crisp…at a little over 6.5 pounds. It breaks so fast and crisp there is no time to screw up the shot. It is a very safe carry trigger and is accurate when training with it after some time.

It replaces my Glock 19 gen 3 that I’ve carried gor a number of years.

    Rate it a solid 8 – 9 .
    Highly recommended

If you don’t know the difference go back to school and take English 101.

For the record, and for those who poo-poo the caliber and say it doesn’t have stopping power… then I invite you to take 10 steps forward and let me unload a few rounds.

    No takers?… that’s what I thought.

    TSA: “What’s your safety-word?”

TSA: “The more you sweat in peace. . . (no, that’s it, that’s all of it)”.

TSA: “We can’t beat you in a foot race to the gate, so you can’t have nail clippers.”

  8. The only value I see in a heavily crenelated bezel is its ability to help you find your way home. Carry one in your pocket and it quickly eats through the fabric leaving a trail of pocket change, cough drops, car keys and finally the light itself in your wake. It is way better than carrying bread crumbs. I carry a 50 lumen Bushnell that uses a single AAA. It has two mods. 1 all of the sharp edges have been polished away with a dremel. 2. A small but thick rubber band has been wrapped around the back end so I can bite it between my teeth when I am doing tasks that require both hands. I have an extra just like it in my bag in case of loss.

  9. so…keep everyone unarmed and sitting ducks then…
or are you going to install metal detectors to make sure nobody is carrying…and guarantee people will be safe (impossible, of course)
    don’t ask, don’t tell
some in the congregation carry concealed…bet on it…or take it on faith

  10. … but even in a “crisis” situation, someone shooting back at the bad guy is way better than letting him kill everyone in the sanctuary.

  11. Police officers are notoriously poor shots, exercise poor impulse control, and can get away with murder due to statutory “protections” that (only) they possess. You see, police officers operate under NO “rules of engagement”, unlike the military and ordinary citizens. A shooting that would get a military person or ordinary citizen charged, tried, found guilty, and incarcerated quite often is treated as “operator error” or use of the famous “I feared for my life” excuse, when committed by a police officer.
After a questionable police officer shoot, the individual officers are not handcuffed and arrested and are given 72 hours in which to “get their story straight”, unlike the treatment that an ordinary citizen receives for an identical shoot.
Police-friendly prosecutors and “rubber-stamp” grand juries routinely “gloss over” and excuse behavior by police officers, that would land an ordinary citizen in serious trouble.
This “double standard” needs to be scrapped. |Equal justice under law” is supposed to apply to everyone–even police officers.

  13. So…..how about getting some of the willing congregation and train them up? I’m sure there are some good prior service SOF instructors in that area. Think outside of the box, or you may end up in one, 6 feet under!

We were on patrol and as I got out of the truck my pant leg hooked on something in the door jam unblousing my boot. Well about 5 seconds go by as I’m walking down this dusty dirty road when from no where I hear a voice over the company net.
    VOICE: SGT Bob.
Me: Yes God is that you?
Voice: dammit no it’s Callsign 7.
Me: oh. Damnit. Yes Callsign 7?
Callsign 7: Your right boot is unbloused I suggest you stop and fix it now.
Me: Uhh ok I didn’t catch that but I’ll fix it once I get in the truck.
Callsign 7 : I said fix it now.
Me: Uhh I’m kinda out in the open here it ain’t happenin.
    Callsign 7: Bob fix it!

  15. This is what happened when persons in California lawfully open (unloaded) carry in public places. Same excessive police response, same illegal demands, but unfortunately followed swiftly by a new law banning open unloaded carry. to protect peoples’ “feels.”

By the way, if they ordered the old man to not walk in such close proximity to the school, as opposed to merely requesting that he do so, the order was unlawful and void. It is not his fault that people are stupid.
