SNL Makes the Case for Concealed Carry for Women

The rapier (no pun intended) wits at Saturday Night Live have finally taken note of the spate of prominent sexual harassment and assault accusations and firings in their own special way. In a lavish video production they call ‘Welcome to Hell’, they make the case that women are little more than targets for the predatory patriarchy…and have been, well, since forever.

After initially contorting themselves into various pretzel-like shapes in order to justify their silence on one of the biggest news stories of the year, it appears NBC’s too-long-in-the-tooth franchise finally felt they could no longer avoid the topic.

But even here, SNL’s “comics” managed to only obliquely allude to the last few months’ revelations without mentioning a single name amongst the score or so of prominent entertainment, media and government figures who have been shamed, banished, fired or simply hounded from public life. Instead, with resignation, they list some of the everyday activities that are no longer safe for the XX set (parking, walking, Uber, hotels, night time, bathrobes, drinking and, of course, men).

The dolled-up singers then reveal their own special strategies to avoid being victimized; traveling in packs, carrying their keys in their fists, acting insane and…wait!

It turns out there’s an app for pervy predatory behavior. One of the kewpie-like characters reveals that her father — obviously concerned for her safety — bought her a firearm!

My dad gave me a pink gun so…there’s a lot there.

We don’t think that means what she thinks it’s supposed to mean. If the number of women who report they’ve been sexually assaulted is accurate (almost 20%) armed self defense would seem to be an excellent deterrent strategy to ensure that the Harvey Weinsteins, Matt Lauers and Charlie Roses of the world keep their clammy hands (and other appendages) to themselves. Oh, and don’t think that women are the only victims, either.

The moral of the story: as another famous man of letters once wrote, an armed society is a polite society. One in which the creepers — even socially or politically prominent ones — feel less ability to assault weaker, more vulnerable subordinates and associates with impunity.

Not that anyone in the cast of Saturday Night Live will ever make that connection. Or, given where they live and work, be able to avail themselves of their right to keep and bear arms, even if they did.

  1. Wow finally a remmy gun I want. Maybe I’ll just wait for iac to copy, make it better, and cheapet. Like the did with the hawk guns.

  2. 380, .38 special and a .45 acp. If you need more than the 45 it’s time to grab a rifle or at least an m1 carbine. That being said big power revolvers will always have a soft spot in my heart.

  3. Why not go after the people when their application is rejected? When there’s good evidence that they have lied on the paperwork.

There is a report about the number of rejections and the convictions
Table I lists the number of “guilty plea or verdict” for NICS violations:
    2010 13,
    2009 32,
    2008 43,
    2007 48,
    2006 73

In 2010 there were 6,037, 393 NICS applications.
In that year there were 72, 659 denials.
    That’s a rejection rate of 1.2%

  4. So what about those folks out in the-world who HAVE a medical Cannabis Card BUT DO NOT CONSUME? Would they be prohibited from gun ownership?

They might answer the question on the 4473. What then?

    It is all non-constitutional BS!

  5. “This is the second time in three weeks armed citizens have intervened in a mass murder, preventing further murders from taking place”

This is at least the third time in three weeks. There was another post on TTAG I think under a daily digest that was very similar to this one. The guy shot two employees outside the business and then followed the manager back in where another employee that was armed ended up shooting the attacker. If I remember correctly that one was at a automotive store also.

  6. Okay, here we go again.
2nd amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms with the phrase SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. Notice that in other amendments Congress, or the states, or some other collective entity is specified, for instance the 1st “Congress shall make no law”. Given the specificity on one place and the lack there of in another, it implies that LEGALLY, “shall not be infringed” applies to not only the US government but all entities with the power to infringe that right.
Add to that that the 9th amendment declares that rights not enumerated are not denied because they are not enumerated, and that the 10th amendment says: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, NOR PROHIBITED BY IT TO THE STATES, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. [emphasis mine]
Remember how the 2nd Amendment didn’t say “Congress shall make no law” or “The executive branch shall not infringe”? The 2nd Amendment ALSO prohibits the States that are members of the United States from infringing the right to keep and bear arms.

Congress should not be making ANY laws that infringe or manipulate the right to keep and bear arms. The SCOTUS and Executive branch should be nullifying laws contrary and enforcing the second amendment [respectively].

  7. SNL sucks, and I am enjoying watching Hollywood implode. They have lectured us regarding their “morally superior” anti-gun and “pro-woman” stances for years, yet they hide behind armed guards and crappy lefty humor. It should surprise no one that they’ve also been hiding sexual predators within their ranks for decades.

  8. Absolutely not, but I am far more uncomfortable with the anti-gun party gaining control of the Senate.

Get Moore in the seat, investigate, and if anything is proved, then kicked him out of office and let the governor appoint for the remainder of his term.

  9. I will definitely be in line in that first 10000. I wish I could buy two. But I will buy the best quality I can on the first one and refurbish it to the best of my ability. It will then go in the original holster and belt my uncle brought back from the Korean War. And then I will hope that he would accept it as a gift.

  10. I predict you will see aftermarket 20 round magazines for this gun within two years.
Hard core haters will never say anything good about Hi Point products. To them the second amendment is for rich people only.
