“Skeet/trap good. Giving N00bs Shotguns Without Proper Safety Lessons? Bad.”

[h/t to DrBiggly for headline and link]

  1. avatar adam says:

way to put the dead in deadmau5!

  2. avatar Sanchanim says:

    OMG Tigger!!! TRIGGER!!!!!!!!
Ok go that out of my system… whew…

  3. avatar Wiebelhaus says:

I could not handle this drama, I’m serious, after I verbally assaulted them, I’d either disarm them or leave depending on relation to me, this is just too much for me to handle.

  4. avatar MotoJB says:

That makes me want to put on some overalls and a wife-beater, then back-hand her for intense stupidity! 😉

  5. avatar IndyEric says:

I actually winced when I saw that picture.

    1. avatar John Fritz says:

Yeah. Me too. Sucked my breath in hard enough to hear it.

  6. avatar Mr Bob says:

    Holy crap on a cracker!

  7. avatar brigo50 says:

    Incendiary image of the day!!!

  8. avatar matt says:

Someone should have let the girl on the left shoot the shotgun with the butt up so high so she would learn to respect guns.

  9. avatar jwm says:

first time i’ve ever agreed with matt. it’s a mistake she’ll only make once.

    1. avatar Sanchanim says:

Well there is always a first time lol

      1. avatar Aharon says:

        not always

  10. avatar Tommy Knocker says:

Well I don’t think that it is that bad actually…yes the finger on the trigger is bad BUT if you look, I believe the young ladies are “trying” not to actually put their finger aggressively on that trigger. There were a couple of neurons firing somewhere that was cautioning them both. And the girl on the left is getting caught up in the 2D photo perspective thing. I would bet that that shotgun is NOT pointing at her companion. I see it as pointing IN FRONT of her BFF. Look at the muzzle and you will see how much of both barrels are visible to the camera. That is why I believe it is angled more towards the camera than you might think.

Anyway, someone needs to instruct kids so they know better. Wouldn’t it have been nice if they had been exposed to Scholastic Clays program in school? In that case I would bet my breakfast tomorrow that they would not have engaged in such a photo.

    1. avatar Bob says:

I see the perspective thing that you’re talking about now. I think it is pointed a foot or so in front of the friend.

Still a bad idea. The friend would get a nasty powder burn and serious hearing damage if the gun went off.

    2. avatar Nathan says:

Yeah after my initial face palm, I saw the same thing. But I would put the wad as going like 6 inches in front of her face, not a foot. Either way, I’m counting 3 (or possibly 4) out of 4 rules violations in the picture. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

  11. avatar Bob says:

I would take the gun away from her immediately. I don’t care if she is related to me or a complete stranger. If she complained, I would tell her “You just committed assault with a deadly weapon. If you don’t like that I took the gun away, call the police. I’ll explain to them why I did it, and you will go to jail. In fact, I think I will call the police.” That would get her attention! She would start begging me to not call the police, and then we could start educating her about the severity of what she just did. No matter what, I would not give the gun back to her.

  12. avatar Leon says:

This is what happens when the ” Jersey Shore” is left unsupervised with guns.
    Heaven help us.

    1. avatar Garynyer says:

      Shouldn’t that be encouraged?

  13. avatar Ken says:

TK beat me to it. As a serious amateur photog I agree as to the spatial perspective thing.
    Trigger fingers? Bad girls!

  14. avatar Not Too Eloquent says:

You guys even get your safety panties in a wad over a Photoshop. Good Grief!

    1. avatar Robert Farago says:

That did occur to me. How do you know?

      1. avatar Kevin says:

The shotgun pointed at the lady is photoshopped. It looks a little pixilated and brighter than the rest of the pic.

        1. avatar Bob says:

          I think Kevin is correct.

We should legislate some common-sense photoshop control.

        2. avatar matt says:

          It looks a little pixilated
Its a JPEG, it uses lossy compression. It was saved at 90% quality according to the EXIF data.

and brighter than the rest of the pic.
Difference finishes. If you check the EXIF data, it also uses Facebook’s TINYsRGB profile which has 24 points for the tone response curve compared to 1024 for the standard sRGB profile.

      2. avatar Michael says:

The gap between the barrels, for one. It is solid on every O/U I’ve handled (that I remember), but the person doing the ‘shop didn’t know any better and filled in the grass they assumed you would see.

        1. avatar matt says:

The Ithaca below has a gap between the barrels, Beretta 682s have a gap too. And if it is shopped, they did a decent job, look at her hair against the trees.

  15. avatar Totenglocke says:

It looks like the barrel is about 6 inches in front of the other girls face – it’s just an optical illusion.

    1. avatar matt says:

It might not blow her head off, but i’m sure the muzzle blast can’t be good for her eyes.

  16. avatar Ralph says:

  17. avatar Greg Camp says:

Are we even sure that the two girls are anywhere near each other? They appear to be inserted into the picture by Photoshop. The lighting on the two doesn’t appear to be from the same source, and if there are two different artificial lights, why doesn’t the one that is brightening up the left side of the pink hoodie cast a beam on the black coat as well?

    1. avatar bontai Joe says:

That was my first thought as well, “Pink hoodie” isn’t lit the same and also seems to be a different sharpness if image than the other girl. Still a VERY badly composed photo. Ah, resolution was the word I was looking for.

  18. avatar jwm says:

geebus, it must have been the shooter on the grassy knoll.

  19. avatar JuanCudz says:

The lighting (and the whole setup) doesn’t feel right to me, I’m calling Photoshop.

  20. avatar Jericho941 says:

I don’t have anything useful to contribute to the discussion other than my seething hatred of dubstep.

(If you don’t understand why I brought that up, youtube search deadmau5)

  21. avatar g says:

Looks like some Dick Cheney action is about to go down. To dead mau5’s so-so “music.”

And yeah, looks a bit Photo’chop’d.

  22. avatar g says:

    “Girls with guns on LSD
    Self-infraction, mass destruction
    Programmed for the final function
    Lab Rat King, Rescue team
    Save me from the anarchy
    Gimme the sound, to see
Another world outside that’s full of
All the broken things that I made”

Kids these days with their goofy lyrics and dub-step. HA! (/end grumpy old man mode)
