From SilcencerCo . . .

SilencerCo is excited to launch a new custom paint service to help customers step up their suppressor game. SilencerCo’s Cerakote-certified team can refinish suppressors in one of five different colors for the cost of $89.

This new service gives shooters the option to match their suppressor to a specific firearm or even just add a little color to their current collection. Those interested will need to contact the SilencerCo Customer Service team Monday – Thursday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM MST. The SilencerCo Customer Service contact information can be found here.

“Our intention with this project is to give shooters the ability to customize their suppressor,” said VP of Marketing, Customer Service & Warranty, Jessica Kallam. “Whether it’s Coyote Tan for long-range desert shooting or Sniper Grey for pairing with an AR-15, our paint team will do an impeccable job.”

Color Options:

Coyote Tan C-240

O.D. Green C-241

Flat Dark Earth C-246

Cobra Black V-166

Sniper Grey C-239

I’ve worked myself with both high-heat enamels and ceramic-based powdercoats, and there are certain applications for which a professional is warranted due to tight tolerances. There are others that don’t require them.

I once sent a slide to a small shop to have it bead blasted and Cerakoted a bright color (for one of Mrs Haz’s guns). It came back to me very dull. Functional, but aesthetically dull. I returned it, and the shop stripped it back down and applied a thin coat of white before re-applying the brighter color. Now it “popped” and looked fantastic, but we found that the coats were too thick and caused the slide to bind once 100 rounds were put through the gun and the barrel/slide heated up. I had to gently remove a little bit of Cerakote material in certain areas due to the tolerances. Still wasn’t reliable.

I finally took it to another certified Cerakoter who had more experience, and he was able to strip it down again and apply only the bright color and get the intended look. The gun has worked just fine ever since.

The first shop charged well under $100. The second charged $150, but did the job right. You get what you pay for.

All this being said, spraying the outside of a suppressor and/or full gun with a can of high-heat enamel will get the job done and save the $$$.

Another time years ago, I brought several non-gun parts to a commercial (not gun related) powdercoater. Got the call a week later that the parts were ready. Took them home, opened the box, and found a couple of them missing. Went back to the company and found that those two parts closely resembled the disposable hooks they used to hang & spray parts, so they simply tossed them in the trash which had already been hauled away. The employees didn’t pay attention to the customer’s order, and I never got reimbursed for the lost parts. I never used that company again.

WT actual F? They just said “oh, well”? Seriously?

Did you ask them what they intended to do about their error? I’m not as nice a you were. At the least, I would have talked to the consumer reporter at your local fish-wrapper, or left them a blistering negative report on Yelp or whatever… 🙁

  1. It appears that the biden ATF is now going after “paper crimes” by Dealers etc…..
    =
Paper errors now are getting Dealers and others shut down instead of the ATF pointing out the paper error, they appear to be shutting down those who secure RKBA.
    =
Oh wait, because the US Constitution DOES NOT give the privilege of acting upon RKBA, then such cannot be done upon lawful Citizens and imposes upon government, the directive to support RKBA.
In a constitutional Republic at the common law, public servants are restricted to act upon only those topics allowed to them………… ALL ELSE ABSOLUTLEY DENIED.
    =
HOW SAD THAT OUR PUBLIC SERVANTS ARE SO IGNORANT OF THE LAW.
MAYBE THE ATF AGENTS ARE …………….”JUST OBEYING ORDERS”.
    =

  2. High temp Cerakote is childishly easy to apply.
It is an air dry product.
All you need is a cheap air brush, like a badger, and a harbor freight air compressor with a water trap.
Camo patterns are simple, especially if you buy the stencils.
Just prepare the surface as per the Cerakote directions.
It will be a gut check when you take 80 grit sandpaper to your silencer.

Practice on a few ammo cans first to gain confidence.
    It comes out great!

  3. “SilencerCo’s Cerakote-certified team can refinish suppressors in one of five different colors for the cost of $89”

    Cerakote-certified by who?

if your heart is set on creakote > your can get the paint from here in same colors for $35.00 and do it your self, no certification needed > https://www.cerakote.com/cerakote-industries/automotive

(creakote spray paint also available other places)

I do it and it comes out looking great just like it would have come on a commercially manufacturered item. I am not ‘certified’

or get high-heat engine paint for about $15.00 and do it your self, looks good too.

    • or… if you want to avoid the hassle then send it to SilencerCo or take it to some else who does creakote professionally.

but really, its not hard to do and get a great looking finished product.

  4. I painted my suppressor transparent ghosty, not even I can see it, it works so good I took it off and now its lost somewhere. I suppose I’ll find it when I wake up in the middle of the night and it rules underneath my foot and I fall and bust my head on the M102

    • “…now its lost…”

Pretend you lost your stamp too. The AFT will find out lickety-split, and track it down with the hidden chip in it, and come to arrest you. Whip out that stamp, and say whoops, here it is, I’ll take that back, thanks boyz. Then program your mobile phone bluetooth tracker app to read that chip’s signal so you won’t lose it again.👍

  5. A bunch of losers whining about $89 for Cerakote. If you’re whining about spending $89 you probably don’t even own a suppressor.

    • Great. Once I move out of CA to a state that actually allows suppressors for the common peasants, you can pay for mine.

    • @ pcn….. I play in a yearly fall golf tournament with a bunch of crazy’s, it’s called the “Piss & Moan Scramble”; I think I’ll get my driver done up in a Cerakote scheme for all the crybaby’s this year!

      • You know you guys that play golf could save the county a lot of money if you’d trade them in for weed whackers and clean up the weeds around stop signs and culverts

        • If they play like I used to, there’d be plenty of weed whacking out on the links, that’s for sure. I played golf like a rototiller. Did have fun, though.

        • @ possun….I just ordered me a Blue Force Gear UDC Padded Bungee Single Point Sling in Multi-cam Tropic to carry that driver, and the beauty of the way that single point sling is made it won’t hamper my swing at all, probably make my swing better!

  6. What? No pink?

    I’d take one in a bright orange color… wait…

But seriously, my next one is going to be a smol boi for a 9mm setup and color doesn’t really matter to me. They take a pretty good beating though, so a darker earth tone might make sense.

    • Yeah, I mean who is going to want to get FDE on their HuxWrx CA$H 9k??!?! Boring!! Bling it out or don’t bring it out!
