Yesterday, I blogged a letter sent to the Office of Management and Budget. Twenty-nine Democrats directed the OMB’s Acting Director to kill the Tiahrt Amendment—the law that keeps ATF eTrace data under wraps. As part of their rationale for exposing gun stores to criminal and civil prosecution (for legally selling guns later used illegally), the Dems claimed the Amendment hampered Senator Grassley’s investigation into Operation Fast and Furious. The exact wording: “Chairman Darrell Issa and Senator Chuck Grassley had to take the extreme step of requesting gun trace data of the Mexican Ambassador since they weren’t allowed to do so with their own government.” WTF? I contacted Senator Grassley’s office to get the 411 from the horse’s mouth (rather than the other end). Here’s his statement . . .
The ATF routinely releases this type of data to members of Congress. I’ve asked for it and received it on various occasions. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration would not cooperate when we asked for the information in relation to Operation Fast and Furious. So, it’s not because the U.S. government couldn’t provide the information, it’s that they wouldn’t provide the information, thus the request to the Mexican government.
There are lies, damned lies and the lies perpetuated by those who would trample on your God-given or natural but certainly Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. I wonder what Brian Terry would have thought of these fellow Americans.
Meanwhile, Grassley has cleverly written a “gun control” bill that strips out universal background checks, cracks down on straw purchases and puts plenty o’ pork on the plate for school safety measures.
Equally, it provide awesome CYA for Republicans who don’t want to be accused of “doing nothing” to make America safer from “gun violence” while blocking civilian disarmament legislation.
You go Sen Grassley!!!!
Feels like guns and ammo are becoming like printers and ink. Get a free box of .22 with the purchase of a Marlin model 60. When you run out, buy another rifle for the ammo.
When they say cheaper then dirt thier really talking about Real-Estate and that aint cheap. I never buy from them anyway.
I’ve been a fan of Grassley since he first began representing my fellow Iowans. Don’t be fooled by the “aw shucks, I’m just a Farmer from Iowa” routine. He’s as sharp as they come and is just about fed up with BO, EH and Co. Chuck is good, just give him time to make his play.
NRA response is a FAIL because it plays the game by the rules of the leftist media. The NRA’s response should have been a big fat ……SO WHAT IF HE WAS A MEMBER?
They could have pointed to a bunch of previous mass murderers who happened to be registered Democrats and said “So are you implicating that the Democrat party is the chosen party of mass murderers?” Then after they clearly pointed out the MSM stupidity, then and only then do they continue on and inform the MSM that in fact Lanza was not a member.
Face it, the NRA played by the MSM rules, and at some future day if a mass murderer happens to be a NRA member, the NRA will be behind the 8-ball. Is this stupid response from the NRA another fumble-fruck response from Wayne’s half-a$$ed though process?
When I lived in NC I found its gun laws a breath of fresh air when I moved there from NJ. But for 15 years I have been fortunate enough to live in Georgia, and its gun laws make NC look like the old USSR. Besides Georgia being a shall issue state, the county probate judge decides and signs off on your CCW (here it’s called the GWL – Georgia Weapon License). It took just trip to the county court house, filling out the two page form, you pay $75 , they take your picture for the GWL card and a deputy takes your fingerprints, then they run a background check. If everything is AOK then in my county the GWL arrives in two weeks or less. Mine was in my mail box in seven calendar days – AND the effective date on my permit was the day after I applied for it! The permit is good for 5 years and here we can open or conceal carry with our GWL and we can carry concealed knives with no restriction on blade length. We have no legal obligation to inform a cop that we carrying. We can go into restaurants that serve alcohol and legally enjoy adult beverages with our meals while open or concealed carrying – this has been the law for years and – now get this – there have been no blood baths that the anti-gun nuts claimed would result. In Georgia the law says you can’t discharge a firearm while intoxicated except in the case of self defense – and again there have been no blood baths. No gun signs do not carry legal weight here, unless management or the store owner sees you carrying and then if they tell you to leave they must give you ample time to leave. And here the state law preempts town, city or county law. Georgia respects its citizens.
You couldn’t pay me to travel to New York or Chicago.
Do you know why I pulled you over?
Notice how the complicit media run in lock step with Barry and the boyz and their big money ad blitzes.
If any of you on this forum EVER vote democrat libtard AGAIN, and I find out where you live…………
We should not “tool up” like the PoPo, and here’s why:
1. It’s hot. Nasty, sweaty, slimy, sticky hot. Makes walking around town a miserable experience. Body armor goes in the “in case of zombies with guns” pile.
2. It’s heavy. The tacticool vest that holds 10 m4 mags and a genuine IFAK (that you haven’t ever looked in) goes in the “in case of zombies” pile.
4. It’s visible. Concealed carry means that out of every ten citizens in that 7-11, one is probably armed. This is what deterrence is all about. Add some random clothes to the “in case of zombies” pile, effective camoflage in a typical bachelor flat and nobody will look under them. DO wash the clothes, don’t want to fight zombies smelling like a gym.
5. It’s expensive. I can’t afford my own MRAP; I can’t even afford gas for the civic half the time. That means super expensive high tech widgets go on the “pick it up when you need it” list.
Why should cops get to have all the fun? I have an effective fighting kit in the ready room waiting for zombies or whatever. I also have just enough gun to buy me time to run that walks around with me. Yes, I just said my gun walks around, that is what I get for trying to write coherently at 3 am.
Those prices just make me angry. Repeal the NFA.
You’d also have to look at agents / 1000 heads in each geographical area.
It’s not a prosecution is just some random event – it requires manpower and investigations. And, I GUARANTEE you that there is not even a normal distribution of agents per 1000 people across all geographies – much less a constant one.
I’m all for covertly providing arms to both sides of Syria to enable a loooonnnngggg protracted civil war of Islamists killing Islamists.
I’d jump for joy if we could also get Iraq and Iran back to their old ways and lob some gas both ways.
Me too. Let’s blow this bitch out, AI.
