“John Marshall Bagley [above] told police he was upset his wife, Judy, was divorcing him and began to stab her, chasing her outside into the driveway of their South Anchorage home,” adn.com reports. “But a neighbor walking his dog in the neighborhood north of Ocean View Park heard Judy Bagley scream for help, witnessed the stabbing and then used his pistol to fire a warning shot into the air, diverting Bagley’s attention away from his wife. The neighbor, Donald Brown, then subdued Bagley, and handed Judy Bagley a phone to call police.” This report is mistaken. Mr. Brown fired a shot at Mr. Bagley and missed. If you are in a similar situation, that’s exactly what you might do. Because firing a warning shot – no matter where it’s aimed – could get you into all kinds of legal trouble. [h/t TG]
Direct him to Rationality Rebooted, the website of Defensive Gun Uses. There is a map showing all the DGU’s reported in the papers around the country.
But but but… Joe Biden said you should fire not one but TWO warning shots from your double barrel shotgun.
I’m sure if some citizen were to find themselves in legal trouble for firing warning shots, the vice president would immediately intervene, as they were only taking his advice!

Gun scrimshaw. Kewl.
I love Glocks and all that they are. Shot a shield in 9mm this weekend and can not wait to find one at a decent price. What a gun.
Much of this about confiscation is assuming police officers will follow the orders. Most officers will not comply with this order and most corrupt politicians know this. Not to worry at this time about a D2D confiscation situation. Now the blue helmet people might be a different thing that we have to contend with but we will have plenty of notice and time to prepare for that situation. Cowboy Up – Yeppie Ki Yay America!
Also, who, in thier right mind would put that much weight and height on a plastic picatinny to just amplify the torque being applied? The Magpul would be the best I am sure.
Robert Seddon
I think there will always be an Arabian prince or sultan who would want something like this. Ditto for oligarchs and dictators wearing uniforms and having self-given ranks. So, the gunmakers are only too happy to oblige. Personally, I think it is hideous. A taint on the gunmakers’ art. It looks like something out of a Cthulhu story or David Cronenberg’s ‘eXistenZ’.
So the targebot is $500 cheaper for the govt. Why do they rate the discount when they are using our tax dollars in the first place.
The SureFire guy did say that you could “add Picatinny segments anywhere you like” … so it doesn’t sound like the proprietary thing is a big issue. Basically it sounds like you can mount stuff all over the place on that thing.
It wouldn’t be such a problem if cops didn’t carry guns. As it is, they’re more likely to shoot first and ask questions later.
@gregolas….you win the internets, young padawan.
@everyone else who replied to my above comment….I can’t stop laughing. My sides are in so much pain.
That is one creepy picture.
the real criminality in the first story was the unopened can of dip. shotguns are a dime a dozen but a good dip is something to be cherished.
Re. first story…. alcohol was involved, surely.
If you are going to crank one off as a “warning” why unload it into the sky? Why not put it into the ground?
A missed shot is a warning shot, a warning to spend more time at the range
I, too, fall for the same clickbait. Just last evening, AAMOF. In a number of these categories, Mickey Rourke is fast rising towards the top spot….

It’s a little awkward but it works for now.
Re software updates … understood, and I share your pain, Nick. If we ever meet, I’ll buy the first round.
These 3 are SO funny, they march around from site to site, from business to business posing together and taking turns holding up the ridiculous sign, they accomplish absolutely nothing but having a photo journal of their not so spectacular, non-productive exploits…Even IF these 3 were to have a minor victory, it would pale in comparison to the major defeats MDA and MAIG have suffered…
anybody else notice that creepy black fog right above the handicap parking sign?
Is that a VEPR?
I’m with Matt. I cannot recall any heated debate in a classroom erupting in fisticuffs, brawls, or knife fights, either when I was in school or in the news. Why would anyone assume that they would result in gun battles if the carrying of handguns was allowed? And if we are talking concealed carry, why would anyone be intimidated by a gun he/she does not know exists? Is Cole projecting his own fear and feelings of intimidation by his interactions with armed police officers?
Colin Noir is just the right balance of informative and fuggin funny.
Where can I go or what can I read to educate myself about gun laws in Texas? Is there any laws in regards to firing a warning shot?
This article says absolutely nothing about the subject it was intended to discuss. Totally useless!
