Ruger is getting into the custom shop business with two new products. The first is a Doug Koenig-designed SR1911 Competition pistol:

This SR1911 leaves nothing to chance, featuring the precision-machined Koenig Shooting Sports low-mass hammer and competition sear. When combined with the custom flat-faced trigger shoe, precision-machined disconnector and hand-tuned sear spring, you can expect a match-grade, crisp and clean break with every trigger pull. The hand-fitted slide and frame provide a remarkably tight, yet smooth, action. The competition barrel features a polished feed ramp, fitted barrel lug, target crown and unique 1:16″ slow twist to increase accuracy with lighter weight match bullets.

The Custom Shop SR1911 sports a black nitrided stainless steel frame trimmed with a 25 lines-per-inch checkered front strap and matching checkered mainspring housing. The addition of Hogue® G10 Piranha grip panels provides for a superior grip, while the trigger guard is undercut and blended for a comfortable high hold designed to reduce muzzle flip. The stainless steel slide has an anti-glare, black nitrided top with precision-ground slide serrations, revealing an attractive, two-tone finish.

Item number two is a 10/22 Competition rifle:

The 10/22 Competition Rifle features a hard-coat anodized, CNC-machined, heat treated and stress relieved 6061-T6511 aluminum receiver with an integral, optics-ready, 30 MOA picatinny rail. The custom receiver is paired with a 4140, heat treated and nitrided, match CNC-machined bolt to create a tight-fitting, smooth action that will enable the highest level of performance. The receiver incorporates a second bedding lug, ensuring it is securely bedded to the stock. This rifle also features an exclusive second barrel locator to provide a free-floating barrel for superior accuracy. The receiver incorporates a rear cleaning port, providing access to the barrel from the rear of the receiver for ease of cleaning.

The 16-1/8″ bull barrel is fluted to reduce weight and dissipate heat and also is threaded with a 1/2″-28 pattern to accommodate the included muzzle brake or other barrel accessories. The barrel also features a proprietary, enhanced semi-auto chamber which has proven to increase accuracy and precision while not compromising reliable feeding and extraction.

  1. “The 16-1/8″ bull barrel is fluted to reduce weight and dissipate heat and also is threaded with a 1/2″-28 pattern to accommodate the included muzzle brake or other barrel accessories.” – You mean like a suppressor? Who the hell needs a brake on a .22? Thought it was too quiet?
    🤠

      • You boys are obviously not competitive shooters. The brake is essential even on a .22 when the timer’s ticking and follow up shots are measured in milliseconds and accuracy.

But I get it. Your buddies at the mall are probably thinking the same thing.

  2. I dunno these custom gun deals are nice guns. But. In the real world is this 1911 worth $1600 more than the stock gun At $800??
A really nice Wesson or Kimber even a Springfield can be had for the increase alone……….

    • Out of the three I’d only trust the Springfield to work. Kimbers and DWs are pretty though.
      Pretty don’t win fights.
Ruger 1911s are no slouches for the price point.

  3. I’m more than kinda digging that 1911…
    May have to indulge myself.

Wait. Just looked at the pic again. Nope. Nope. Nope.
I don’t want Doug’s name on my gat.
Screw that. I shot against that guy in competition. No way.

And since I’ve already got a Volquartzen 10-22, I can skip the rifle.

    • If Ruger can’t remove his name and put your name on the slide instead, then they’re not a custom shop. I’d still go with a Dan Wesson at that price range

  4. If your shooting Metal Madness, you need to stick with the S&W 15/22 version. Less weight right out of the box. Few modifications will drop the weight to 3 pounds. Someone mentioned the timer, yes Metal Madness is a timed event and you need light weight and fast movement for this sport. Check out the website.
