Obscure Object of Desire: Elephant Trunk Holsters

The Andrews Custom Leather web site calls their gear that’s crafted from exotic leathers ‘wearable art’. Sam Andrews says his elephant hide holster is tougher than shit nails. If the thought of toting your .45 around in what used to be Dumbo’s nose causes you a twinge of guilt, as it did me, rest easy. Mr. Andrews assures us that all of his raw materials — whether it’s crocodile, cape buffalo, monitor lizard, tigershark or Indonesian frog — are ethically sourced. In the case of his pachyderm paraphernalia, it comes from deceased zoo animals. As Nick says, once it’s dead, it’s dead. You might as well put it to good use, no? There’s only one more thing you should never forget, though. Exotics aren’t cheap. So while an elephant hide holster for your prized 1911 will last you the rest of your life (and probably those of your grandchildren), it will run you a cool $500. But you only live once, right?

  1. Any wealthy moguls on TTAG?

What we need to ultimately secure the Constitution against present and future infringement is our own, honest, and unfailingly truthful media network with the same market power and penetration as CNN .

That being said, the impact of such an organization has connotations beyond the RKBA.Perhaps I should be on the lookout for black cars and Carpet Cleaner vans after posting this.

  2. While being all for the spirit of showing up with rifles, I do have serious reservations over the rifles being loaded. All it takes is one shot going off- either accidentally or intentionally-for what could be a transformational event to quickly turn into a tragic moment with catastrophic implications in terms of firearms regulations. The potential for loss of life on both sides of the issue is staggering, as demonstrators and government forces face off, all caught on cameras and replayed endlessly by the press and Youtube. It would likely create a situation where Congress would succumb to demands from the White House and the anti-2A crowd, putting us on a road to stronger prohibitions in legislation. Mr. Kokesh’s idea of a parade of rifle carrying patriots is commendable, however magazines and ammo may likely create a scenario that pro-2A folk may come to regret. We do not need another ‘shot heard around the world’………

    • Angling, wrong.

      Curving, way to go.

“I got the angles if you got the curves” or something like that (Howling Wolf? Someone earlier?)
