Meopta MeoRed T red dot sight

You want a red dot reflex sight on your AR. You need a red dot reflex sight on your AR. And Meopta wants to sell you a red dot reflex sight for your AR. Specifically, the MeoRed T reflex sight (1x30mm). And they want you to pay one penny less than a thousand dollars for it. Why so dear? According to the press release . . .

We’re talking a shockproof red dot fashioned from “aircraft-grade aluminum for ultimate reliability.” Not just good. Ultimate. Yup, Meopta’s maxxed-out the red dot’s reliability potential. And when it comes to a red dot optic on your AR, you want reliability. You . . . get the point.

The MeoRed T reflex sight’s hydrophobic lens coating also makes it glare-proof, waterproof and fogproof. Where’s the proof? Maybe we’ll have some after Ron torture tests this bad boy, IDF-style. Or maybe not. Watch this space . . .

Meopta Introduces the MeoRed T Reflex Sight

TAMPA, FL, January 2, 2018 – Meopta is pleased to introduce the MeoRed T reflex sight (1x30mm).  The outstanding optical quality and unlimited eye relief of this red dot sight enable fast and accurate target acquisition when it matters most, regardless of eye position behind the sight.

The MeoRed T is an excellent primary sight on today’s MSR/AR platforms and features a 1.5 MOA illuminated red dot reticle with 12 intensity level settings for use in various light conditions.  The tough housing of the MeoRed T is made of aircraft-grade aluminum for ultimate reliability.

“The MeoRed T is an excellent tactical sight for today’s MSR platforms when quick target acquisition is a must,” said Reinhard Seipp, general manager of Meopta USA.  “This reflex sight is also compatible with night vision optics and magnifiers which makes it versatile for various situations in the field.”

Meopta’s proprietary MeoBright™ lens multi-coatings eliminate glare and reflections and deliver 99.7 percent light transmission per lens surface. The hydrophobic MeoDrop™ lens coatings ensure the highest level of visual clarity in adverse weather conditions, easily repelling rain and snow in addition to skin oils and dirt.  The MeoRed T is also waterproof, shockproof and fogproof.

  1. I’ll take 6. Or not.

OH LOOK! There’s a very similar one on Aliexpress for $12.62 with free shipping!

    Not ultimate though. Penultimate.

    :^)

    • Sorry Charlie…the $1000 price point for red dots is well beyond the law of diminishing returns. There’s simply nowhere near $1000 worth of technology, materials, or workmanship in a red dot sight. I wonder what it actually costs to build that in the Czech Republic? $38 maybe?

      • Czech republic is not USA. But it’s not China either.
That said, I’m curious how many of $1000 red dots can they sell.

  2. An unproven Meopta with 2000 hours of battery life for $999

Or, a proven Aimpoint with 50,000 hours of battery life for less.

    Hmmm. Let me think …

  3. For about half of what they are asking i think it would be good. At just under a grand for a red dot, not thinking they will sell alot of them.

  4. The last review of a Meopta red dot on this site was in 2015 and the red dot was garbage. On the other hand, I guess they make OEM glass for some fairly well-regarded companies too.

Either way, an Aimpoint PRO costs half as much and is, well, an Aimpoint.

  5. The Holosun 503 gives you both a circle dot or just a dot in the same unit
50,000 or 20,000 hours of constant on
    Waterproof, etc
    $250
Why buy the Meopta if you can get a Holosun or an Aimpoint PRO for less

  6. Normally I am not one of the “But X brand is almost as good for half the price!” crowd but in this case there are several manufacturers who do it BETTER for anywhere from 1/4-3/4 the price. No thanks

  7. For a couple hundred $$$ more, you can get the excellent ACOG with the PA ACSS reticle. At least then you know what you’re getting.

  8. Why??? Seriously why 999.99 for a red dot? I can get a Tru Glo for 25 bucks, Primary Arms for around 100, Vortex for around 200, and Aim Point for half that price. Why would Meopta’s pricing guru throw a price like that on a red dot? Surely they know there are other more proven names out there that sell for much less.

  9. An optic from a unproven manufacturer and they have the balls to set the MSRP at 1k. I want what they’re smoking.

    • Meopta is not an unproven manufacturer. You may have not heard about it, but it is quite old and high quality optics producing company. Combat proven on ACR (Czech army) guns.
Still, a grand for red dot is just silly. Even with 12 intensity level settings. My 80 bucks Bushnell TRS-25 goes only to 11.
