Do you like picking off feral piggies that are only good for making more little piggies and tearing up perfectly good cropland? Well, you gotta see ’em to plug ’em and Streamlight would love to help you do just that. Their new rail-mounted TLR-1 Game Spotter has an insanely powerful green LED that will let you reach out and touch a hog before the little bastard knows what hit him. It’s 150 lumens and 31,000 candela ratings mean you’ll see the porkers out to 350 yards. It comes in two models, one with a standard rear switch and another that’s remote activated. MSRP: standard = $203 and remote = $290.

  1. 150 lumens isn’t all that bright these days. Maybe it’s got a great beam pattern, and 150 lumens of single-wavelength light is more effective than 150 lumens of white light… but I don’t get it.

It does a good job at explaining the difference. I think you hit the nail on the head with the single-wavelength explanation. This is typically the wavelength that most non-IR night vision systems are best at boosting…thus a 150 lumen green light would provide a whole lot of illumination when paired with night vision system without spooking the hogs.
