Shipping currently and arriving at dealers soon is the new 557 Eclipse from CZ. It’s a bolt action hunting rifle of the quality we’ve come to know and expect from CZ but at a very competitive MSRP of $659.

The CZ 557 Eclipse will be available in .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .30-06 Springfield. All have a 20.5-inch cold hammer forged and lapped barrel, but the 6.5 CM gets a little something special: 5/8×24 muzzle threads.

Otherwise all three models are identical, with billet steel push-feed actions, 5-round hinged floorplate magazines, 19mm dovetails for rings, fully adjustable trigger, and a black synthetic stock a soft-touch finish and one rear and two front sling swivel studs (attach a sling to one of the front studs and a bipod to the other). All models weigh 6.8 lbs.

It’s CZ through-and-through, but at a very approachable and competitive price point.

TTAG will get our hands on a 557 Eclipse for a full review soon.

  1. Can someone please tell CZ that they should be building pic rails instead of dovetails on the US version?

  2. Just what the world needs. Neither CZ or any other gun company on the planet can source raw materials and fill back orders for guns they’ve had in their catalogs for the last 25 yrs much less and new model.

  3. My brain rendered the headline as “an Adorable Hunting Rifle” at first glance. I thought “wow, now that’s a favorable review!”
