New From Ed Brown: CCO LW 9mm 1911

We’ve recently seen a wealth of highly desirable, premium priced 9mm 1911 carry pistols hit the market. Guns like STI’s impressive DVC Carry and Wilson Combat’s drool-worthy EDX X9 are compelling everyday carry options for anyone who reveres John Moses Browning’s venerable design, values the comfort and capacity of a commander length 9×19 1911 and has a few extra samolians in their pocket. The latest entrant into this market: Ed Brown’s CCO LW 9mm. Here’s their announcement . . .

Ed Brown Products, Inc. is excited to introduce the new CCO LW to the expanding line of the World’s Finest Custom 1911s. Known by most firearms enthusiasts as the go-to source for the highest quality, traditional 1911s, this second generation-owned company is continuing in those footsteps, while adding new, innovative and sleek 1911’s to appeal to today’s discriminating custom pistol buyer.

Since the inception of the CCO concept, the most serious users have known that the lightweight CCO is the perfect combination for daily carry, and this new pistol will exceed those demands. Building severe use pistols for now five decades, the Browns understand what it takes to make a solid performer. With this CCO, like all aluminum framed pistols they build, the feed ramp is reinforced with a steel insert to avoid erosion common to aluminum frames that see continued exposure to hollow-points. This pistol is adorned with some of the now over 100 custom options that can be chosen when having a pistol custom built. Every feature was carefully thought out for a daily carry pistol. Starting with the compact (Officer’s) sized, lightweight aluminum frame, combined with a round butt housing and concealed carry beavertail for maximum concealability. Perfectly aligned carry cuts added to the slide for easier one hand holstering, a single side safety, and flush-cut slide stop for a no-snag profile for the right-handed shooter. The flush cut and reversed crown barrel protects the rifling. The Snakeskin treatment on the frontstrap, mainspring housing and slide provides all the grip you want without the harshness of checkering, allowing for pure comfort shooting with no abrasive grabbing of cover garments. Our fixed rear sight and red fiber optic to keep you fighting no matter the lighting conditions. Finally, the sleek, heavy slide chamfer finishes off the slide.

Sales and Marketing Director John May shared with us, “We are just continuing to do what Ed Brown is known for; building the best custom 1911s you can buy. While recognized most for traditional 1911s, keep in mind that Ed Brown invented some of the most innovative and highly imitated designs, such as the Bobtail® Kobra Carry, and Snakeskin , so producing cutting edge 1911’s is in our DNA. Our 50th year is almost here and we are going to remind you all of our history.”

  1. I understand. We that SUFFER in commie one party controlled states, ARE NOT citizens. We are but unwashed little serfs and cash cows to be controlled, to have our hard earned monies stolen, to be outright pissed on by overlords that know whats best. For those of you that LIVE in free states, enjoy your life. But we give you this WARNING. Kalifornia like the other states mentioned, are like an STD. INFECTIOUS AND SPREADS.

  2. Antisemitism is becoming cool again in germany anyways. Or anti-Israel how they call it to make it not as obvious, but hey, if your country is literally the official country of the jews…
And it is brought to you by… the political left. Those crazy treehuggers and islam-apologists now deemed that it was mean from the jews to take a piece of desert from the sand people and turning it into the only working democracy in that part of the world.
I have low expectations from the left, but they manage to do worse every single time.

  3. The derp on this topic is ridiculous. All we know is that HK said they are not selling to places considered war zones or zones considered in conflict, which Israel is in conflict. They are not saying who is at fault for the conflict. They have been hit before for selling arms to bad people so this seems more like a proactive move to prevent them from being hit with lawsuits and the sorts if their weapons did get into the wrong hands. Hell, the democrats here want gun makers to be liable for misuse, let alone Germany and their awful gun and export laws.

  4. ‘Now that we have a President who’s just taking away my family’s health care…’

Uh… it was O’Bama that got 7,000,000 of us (myself included) thrown off our health insurance and the only reason I don’t have health insurance today is Obamacare. Now they want 5 or 6 times as much with a higher out of pocket. Fuck ’em. I’ll just pay for my health care out of pocket.

    Asshole.

  7. For the folks that think the government should be in the health care business because health care is a critical item involving your health…….

…then why shouldn’t we have government in control of our food supply chain?

Going without health care MIGHT kill you after many months or years without it but going without food will CETAINLY kill you in a matter of weeks or months.

Why shouldn’t Uncle Sam be telling what Whole Foods and TRaders Joes can have on their shelves?

  8. Next month’s headline, “No More HK Gun Sales to Anyone; Bankruptcy Were Declared”

We should be so lucky. Talk about the most over-hyped, and frankly talent-less group of small arms designers out there.* They’ve been riding the coat tails of Nazi left overs for pretty much the entire existence of the company (because the G36, G11, MP7, and VP70 have been such game changers, dontcha know) with the possible exception of the USP (itself not really ground breaking but more an excellent execution of existing art). They make good stuff, but others make good stuff (FN & SIG are the most obvious examples, but also Beretta, CZ, and most recently B&T) without nearly the same degree of pure pretense and needless cost, let alone the design flaws & compromises, all while pursuing far more innovation in their products. H&K is the Colt of European gun makers…which I suppose is at least better than being the Remington of European gun makers**

*Having just built a 10mm MP5, and seen the number of half-ass design workarounds & poor decisions they chose to make, I stand by my statement about their design hackery
**This is a historical jab at Remington which once enjoyed similar prominence as Colt has/had from its huge military contracts, but which fell out of favor after relying too heavily on past success–the rolling block rifle– and failed to hold its market share through innovation going forward. It’s been a steady slide into lousier and lousier military, then consumer markets ever since then. Colt’s grand plan these days is…consumer-oriented production of its most iconic offerings from over a century ago (1911s & 1903s) and over fifty years ago (AR15s and revolvers) –the very definition of resting on one’s laurels.

  10. Nice optic, but I can’t justify the cost compared to Vortex’ own $330 1-6x Strike Eagle. The Razor is 424% more expensive yet it only offers incremental improvements. The Razor glass is unquestionably better. However, the Strike Eagle glass isn’t bad. I’m a photographer and I would not use Strike Eagle glass as a camera lens because in high contrast situations it starts to get purple fringing at about 3x which becomes quite pronounced by 6x. While that is unacceptable for a photography it is hard to think of real world shooting situation where it would make any difference whatsoever. The Razor turrets are an improvement, depending on what you are using them for. The reticle illumination knob has off positions between each on setting, which is a good thing. Except illuminating the reticle is unnecessary in daylight, so I don’t often turn mine on. And in the Strike Eagle’s favor, its BDC reticle is better than any offered with the Razor. So wile I can appreciate the Razor II’s refinements, they just aren’t worth the extra $1,070.

  11. @Cliff H

“If I went to a restricted (slave) state and bought two 16 oz drinks and then poured them into my Big Bubba, would I be breaking the law?”

Absolutely: “constructive purchase”. You had the means to convert legal purchases into a device that eventuates an illegal purchase in that you are attempting to evade the law restricting you to only a single 16oz soda. Cheating is illegal, and must be punished severely in order to send a message, and deter others from running afoul of the law, ruining their chances to obtain a position of trust, run for public office, or buy a firearm. Cheaters are obviously mentally ill, and must be controlled for the good of the public safety. In fact, you should probably be located and charged with instructing others with internet connections on how to evade the proper, just and common sense sugary drink control.

    So there.

  12. Is the video supposed to be funny?

I would say with Trump’s SCOTUS pick he is about pro-gun as we’re going to get.

Just one more would secure the court’s stance for a generation. Hopefully the court will reign in the 4th Circuit too.

Ginsburg was seen with an I.V and dragging around an O2 tank. Just wish she would go already and not die on the Bench. J/K about the I.V, but I’m sure she’s close.

  13. AYFKM?

Have you seen his swift moves to restock the federal judiciary??

There’s literally no more consequential move to do than attack the judges and judiciary that have chipped away the 2nd amendment for a century.

Legislation is congress’ deal; at this point if Trump supported gun rights efforts it would be more a bane than a boon.

Ryan and McConnell and likely Murkowski and the other wobbly senator from the NorthEast+ McCain are the issues here.

If we get flake out AND manage to replace McCain, we’re in fine shape.

I’m in California, NO ONE wants gun rights more than I do; but not only does this stuff take time, it takes timing. Nothing would move anyway, and it would be saddled with “we already tried that, move on to something new” baggage if we did.

Read up on how furiously Trump is trying to appoint new judges. And sip some bourbon. This is a long fight, and Trump is backdooring the most consequential stuff, and then after we restock then we go for legislation which won’t then immediately end up gutted like all the other controversial policies.

Finally, compared to who? Reagan was the “best” champion of gun rights since Kennedy, and signed FOPA which had the long term effects of banning new manufacture of machine guns for civilians, no long term positive effects for it’s primary purpose, and later became a shill for “reasonable” gun control after Brady and getting shot.

If Trump is better than the saint Reagan who I wasn’t cognizant for, and obviously better than Carter who looked into banning handguns, Nixon who was a squish on such things, then we’re going back to friggin’ Kennedy who had his melon perforated for challenging the deep state too much (or not; but very plausibly).

I think we’re doing just fine.

Use this time to build further grassroots- real ones that won’t get coopted like the tea party did- and primary the useless bastards out of states; get involved in out of state campagins, donate or call for the Roy Moore election in Alabama, etc.

We got this. Take a deep breath. This is a long time coming, but also a lot of work to do, and proper timing necessary.

  14. We were given a choice between BAD and BADder. It could be worse. I’ll take what I can get. Let’s just hope he remembers us through this term in hopes of being re-elected. We need more on SCOTUS and that may take more than 4 years.

  16. I like all the Vortex optics I’ve used but at this weight and price point I think I’ll stick with the VX3-i from Leupold. $400, 2.5-8x 30 at a touch over 11oz.

Hilariously I use that on my AR but a Vortex Viper PST 6-24×50 on my current long range build.
