Took me a while to figure out what ICON 1000 was selling, exactly, but here ya go: “One thousand is the empirical number that forms the boundary between boy and man. The displacement threshold between novice and expert. One thousand has always been the goal. The finest leathers, textiles, & armor have gone into every item in the ICON 1000 collection. Every detail has been critiqued and examined. Every style has endured countless miles of testing and refinement. The end result is the finest collection of motorcycle riding apparel we’ve ever created. We sincerely hope you will enjoy wearing the ICON 1000 gear as much as we’ve enjoyed making it.” Yeah but what about the guns? I mean they should be way cooler than that, right? Suggestions?

    • you do not have to worry about bites if they cannot bite through your kevlar jacket. they cannot eat your brains if they cannot get through your motorcycle helmet. they cannot eat you if they cannot get through your lead cloud spewing 12 guage AK tricked out zombie killing machine gun (with no sights). Tacticooooool.

      • You dont need sights on a shotgun, you just point and shoot – its got a good spread – right?

        Its obviously a joke.

  1. Well– they also don’t mention whether there’s additional protection in the gear like religious medals.

ICON vests and a number of their Jackets have a St. Christopher medal in them. They don’t advertise it, its not on the tags on the stuff when you buy it. I found the medal in the ICON DoD compliant vest when doing the laundry. It’s in the inside left pocket, attached with a lanyard, in a mini-pocket of its own.

  2. Feckin’ horrible ad for motorcycle garb, marketed to guys between 15 and 30. Damn few shots of the product, no clear tie-in between the ad and what’s being sold. Fail.

As a short film, it’s visually hyperactive and derivative. There’s another fail.

All they’re missing is a bumpin’ club at the lowest level of zombie containment plant #4, the stench of Axe Body Spray and Sailor Jerry’s Spiced Rum, and more hot chicks with great hair. These additions would get them to a level of Douchebag Excellence seldom seen.

  3. I don’t care what you think, ICON makes damn good riding gear. I’ve been wearing their helmets for years. I bet my life on it every time I go out on the road.

    • Kind of a dumb ad, but their jackets and boots are great. My wife and I both love ours. Thankfully I haven’t had the opportunity find out how well ICON’s armor works.

      • I had a low side crash two weeks ago going about 25 mph. The icon gloves and armored jacket I was wearing saved me from some major hurt. I wasn’t wearing leg armor but luckily I landed on my pretty thick wallet on my right knee which I think avoided a fracture but it still hurts today. Stay safe out there.

      • I lowsided in DC about seven years ago. Bounced my Mainframe on the ground nice and hard. It was still good; I finally ditched it three years ago and bought an Airframe.

        • Good to know 🙂 I’ve dropped a few bikes in my day, and I’ve got the scars and skin grafts on my left arm to prove it. I’ll take ICON anything over a Joe Rocket Mesh Jacket…but I laid my ZX7R down doing about 50, so…there’s that…

  4. The shotgun would be much more effective than the helmet for breaking the glass of SUV’s.
Or maybe that’s what mass riders will find pointed at them after they break the glass and find a man inside willing to protect his family.

  5. I gotta say, judging by their tactics for clearing a building of zombies (riding up the elevator, really?), these guys would have been eaten on day 1.

  6. Cool looking gear but so Hollywood! It was painful to watch. In full auto you can barely hit the sid of a barn. let alone a head shot at any distance. On top of which you’ve burned through your ammo and then what are you going to use, ” harsh language?”

Yeah, yeah; it’s a commercial, but it messes with the suspension of disbelief. The hot chick with the gun doesn’t make up for the bad trigger control and the waste of ammo.

  7. I thought it was an entertaining video, for what it was. I did wonder, however, why the girl they were rescuing was in a blind room at the end of a long hallway, and was turning to shoot back into that room. How’d she get way down there?

  8. “The displacement threshold between novice and expert. ”

Sorry, but as much as I like the gear that Icon makes, they got it dad wrong this time. The difference between a novice rider and an expert rider is only tangentially related to how much displacement the bike has. The novice THINKS he needs more, while the expert realizes he does not. I am a damn good rider, and I’ve been spanked by more expert riders on low CC vintage bikes with skinny ass tires. It’s all about what you can do with what you got. Any moron can do 150+ MPH in a straight line.
