WARNING – don’t make the jump if you’re at all firearms squeamish. (Translation: it turns your stomach to see the results of butchers doing violence to perfectly good firearms with implements more commonly used for plumbing.) Consider yourself warned.

Oh…uh… -erp- I’m having trouble keeping my lunch down.

I’m sorry. I don’t think this one can be saved.

  1. From the looks of it, the barrel was a pinned light weight 14.5″. I sure hope this was a precursor to sending the barrel off for a legitimate re-profiling. I can’t imagine someone dropping the tax money just to hacksaw their weapon. Seems pretty foolish to me.

    • You can hack on uppers all day long with no tax money or stamp required. The lower is all that matters. Geez you’d think people would learn that andquit hating on other people’s belongings. If he wants to set it on fire and dance naked around the fire that’s his business.

  2. Re-crowning the muzzle notwithstanding, will that gas port still cycle the action? (Early Garands had the gas tap at the muzzle.)

  3. I’ve seen some M-60s machineguns that have gotten the hacksaw treatment, and that conversion made them better suited to the jungle environments they were being used in. On an AR-15, I would be a little concerned about screwing up the gas impingement system, but from the video it apparently works (at least when its clean). Depending on how rough the cut is, you will have some obvious accuracy issues. And resale value is gonna take a big hit. Other than those issues, I guess its just a matter of what you want your weapon to do for you.

  4. Before you use the crowing tools to make things nice and pretty…a hacksaw is actually the best way to cut down a barrel.

/Not that these guys do fancy work like some of my custom guns.

  5. Who cares.

Paint em’ pink, cut em’ up, drag em’ behind cars. His gun. His right to do whatever the heck he wants with HIS gun.

  6. THE PUG! This guy is over on AR15.com. i’ve been checking this thread every couple days for the last week. thing is a little bit of a joke, but yeah i say he can do whatever he wants. it’s on a legal SBR lower so it’s whatever if you ask me. he also is tlaking about a pistol-length gas system to hep it run better, if needed

  7. I wonder if he knows the laws on length and didn’t just help the ATF make a case? And, if he did do this legitimately, maybe he hangs around Red Jacket.

Dude, thats just a cut barrel….Simple 10 minute fix.

The rifle is actually a factory colt 6933 as stated in the thread. All he did was cut the barrel on a old upper besides the owner must have plenty of $$$$ laying around to play with his toys. Did you see the Ma Duce in the background in some of the pictures?
