IMI Systems Quote of the Day: Shall-Issue Concealed Carry In D.C. Clears Another Hurdle

“We are bound to leave the District as much space to regulate as the Constitution allows—but no more. Just so, our opinion does little more than trace the boundaries laid in 1791 and flagged in Heller I. And the resulting decision rests on a rule so narrow that [may-issue] laws seem almost uniquely designed to defy it: that the law-abiding citizen’s right to bear common arms must enable the typical citizen to carry a gun.” – Judge Thomas Griffith in Appeals Court Denies D.C.’s Request for Full Court Hearing on Gun-Carry Law Struck Down in July [via freebeacon.com]

  1. I fully expect the lib-prog DC government to drag its feet and try to tapdance around this decision, as they have in the past (getting slapped down by the courts each time). It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

    • I notice that the Washington Post (aka Pravda-on-the-Potomac) hasn’t included this story in their online edition today (although other local news agencies have done so). Could it be that this decision is so onerous to those anti-gun prog-heads that they just can’t bring themselves to let anybody know that their belief system got slapped down by the court? Either that, or WaPo’s editorial board is hard at work on a scintilating and devastating editorial blasting the decision (which will convince nobody who is not already a true believer), and is delaying the news story until then.

  2. What I would like to see is these corporate stores held liable for creating an unsafe workplace. No guns for employees? Fine, then post armed guards. Or, get sued for unsafe working conditions.

    • …Actually, Believe it or Not…I spotted a commercial on TV in New England for an Attorney’s office that was now assisting with cases against employers, and businesses that AREN’T providing proper security to stop workplace violence, active shooters or other crimes of violence….Don’t remember the Lawyer’s name…Some guy is the best I can do…But, it may NOT be PRO2@, though it does target legal accountability, and culpability against those that deprive you of YOUR safety, and appears to hold THEIR feet to the fire for doing so….

  3. Hmmm, how is the GVP going to write “oppression is fun, liberty is overrated” email to make gun control more popular?

Che Guevara or Nicolás Maduro might have some tips, but they are not all that popular either.

  5. I guess Circle K decided the law suit over this woman getting murdered during a robbery would cost less than the law suit of the robber getting shot, because any other reason would just show that they’re callous, vindictive bastards who don’t give a damn about their employees. Oh wait…

  6. I tend to by guns with interesting mechanics so I’m definitely interested. I know there’s other rotating barrel guns out there but none that I like the look of off the top of my head. I’ve always liked the plain practical look of the Glock though so I’d definitely try to pick one up eventually.

Though my next gun is a work in progress. I’m building a .357 Sig on one of those Poly80 compact frames. I just need to decide if I make it the standard compact size or extended slide variant.

  7. One of my local gun stores (and first responder outfitter) keeps getting booted from facebook for advertising products in his store.

He’s following all of their made-up-on-the-spot rules, and every three to five days they drop the banhammer on him about thirty minutes after his first “I’m back” post.
