For the second year in a row, the ISRA is advising subscribers to its alert service to write Chicago out of their summer vacation plans because the city is just too darn dangerous to visit. This safety advisory comes as Chicago experiences an unprecedented upswing in violent crime . . .

Although city officials and the Chicago media would like people to believe that the surge in violence is limited to Chicago’s gang-infested neighborhoods, ISRA members who are also Chicago police officers report that criminals of all sorts have notched up their efforts in every corner of the city. These members report that crimes ranging from pickpocketing to aggravated assault are becoming very commonplace in areas once considered safe for families and tourists. As one officer put it, “Don’t come to Chicago this summer unless you want to get beaten and robbed.”

“Putting the bad economy aside, there’s a couple of major reasons for Chicago’s rising tide of violent crime,” commented ISRA Executive Director, Richard Pearson. “First off, criminals are fully aware that Illinois’ prohibition on concealed carry gives them the upper hand. Second, Mayor Emanuel and Police Superintendent McCarthy are in a hopeless state of paralysis over what to do about violent crime. This is a recipe for disaster. Criminals know you can’t legally protect yourself, and they know that Chicago law-enforcement officials haven’t a clue about what to do to protect good citizens from harm. Criminals are taking advantage of a bad situation – and doing a good job at it.”

“In clear conscience I cannot recommend that anyone vacation in Chicago this summer,” continued Pearson. “Tourists are like sitting ducks and mobs of violent criminals have shown that they are brazen enough to attack anywhere, any time – even along the Magnificent Mile. I suggest that folks consider Wisconsin as a vacation destination this year. Fresh air, sunshine, friendly people – all waiting just a short drive across the border. And, although Illinois residents cannot take advantage of Wisconsin’s newly-attained concealed carry status, the general air of civility fostered by concealed carry is certainly another reason to vacation with our neighbors to the north!”

  1. Its painful to type this, but Kabul, Afghanistan would be a safer vacation destination than my old city. In Afghanistan you can wear body armor and carry a weapon, two tools which are illegal to citizens in Chicago. Parking, last I checked, is much cheaper as well.

  2. Now that’s what I want to see on TV, a state tourism board sponsored commercial saying come visit our state capital because we have concealed carry and here the gang-bangers are afraid of us.

  4. The Brady Bunch should put their bodies where their talk is. They should issue a travel advisory recommending going to Chicago on vacation. After all, it has just about every gun law that the Brady crew wants, no?

  5. once the economy tanks and they can’t tax the servents any more and more people start to move out then maybe just maybe they (mayor mc cheese) will see the light …..i doubt it though……pride is a hard thing to swallow…….

    • No, the real problem with the Mayor, the Police Chief, and most of the leadership in Cook County is:

      Too bad Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. isn’t around today, because he said:
      “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” He knew that a few guns in black hands can do much more than any protest march.

      Instead we have the Reverends (and I use that term loosely) Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who are just making the situation worse.

  6. Even if Chicago wasn’t a total cesspool I wouldn’t give them my tourism money until they decided to follow the Constitution.

  7. A number of years ago the International Association of Chiefs of Police had their convention in Baltimore, where I grew up. Several of the wandered a little too far from the Inner Harbor area and were mugged and robbed. Some things about big cities never change.
    Did you ever watch The Wire? I had a number of relatives on the Baltimore City police force and they all said it was quite realistic.

  8. I live 40-60 min from Chicago (depending on how much so-called construction is going on) and I may venture into the city 2 times a year. The city does have much to offer, but the yearly increase in expense to enjoy what is available and the added hesitation to subject my kids to the possibility of violence is just not worth it.

    I’m pretty sure they have reciprocity agreements with a bunch of other states. They also have open carry.

    Even the city’s tourism chief says it is too violent, and references the same black on white mob attacks in the down town area.

  10. I live in Windbag City’s suburbs and I won’t go there – for anything. It is cheaper for me to shop in the suburbs where I live, or across the state border in Wisconsin. And, I don’t have to pay ridiculous parking charges, joke taxes which add crazy amounts of money to everything that I can buy there, and support the band of thieves who run the place.

    Boycott Chicago – let the city go belly up. Do the same thing to C(r)ook County where the city is located, too. The rest of Ill-annoy will do better when this happens.

  11. The only thing that I like about Chicago the shining example of gun control failure that is clearly evident to intelligent lIfe.

    Chicago is a liberal progressive cesspool. Wisconsin has freedom and a newly balanced budget. I respect anyone who will fight the fight for 2A freedom in Chicago. Their cause is all but lost.

    • The best question you can ask to many people in this city when they proclaim to be against the evil NRA, evil guns, evil this evil that… is Why? Many I have found dont have a anwser, or at least not one that isnt regurgitated from the sun times or mayor daley.

  12. I have not been to Chicago in 15 years. I love the City, the food is great, night life is awesome. But, I made a decision 15 years ago, when I received my first, concealed carry permit. If the State of Illinois, denies it’s citizens their 2nd amendment rights, then myself and many others, spend our vacations, money and business dollars in more gun friendly areas. The Gunshine State of Florida and Arizona and Colorado come to mind as much better values. At least I put my money where my values are!
