“I’m tired of these liberals jumping on the guns themselves as if they are the cause of the problem. Guns are not the problem.” – South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman in U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman pulls out loaded gun in constituent meeting to make point about safety [via postandcourier.com]

  1. A gun is just a tool it doesn’t do anything on its own.
Go after the nut job people. Those known to the community and local schools to be trouble makers. Before they can get their hands on a gun.
Hear that FBI. BSO, and Parkland school officials.
Leave me and other law abiding folks the hell alone.

    • I agree, to a point.

We must honor the other basic freedoms, and that must include the freedom to be outside the accepted norms of behavior, dress and speech. So long as they’re not doing anything illegal or otherwise harmful (or against their homeowner’s association code, in some locations) they have every right to be doing what they choose to do. Having been one of the “weird” kids in high school, I’m a little sensitive to this.

Of course that was manifestly not the case re Parkland, and a few other recent ones. Those were failures to act on known problem cases. Not disliked, not suspected, but known and well documented.

    • And go after the persons in federal, state, military and law enforcement positions, that failed to report, act, or comply with existing laws and safeguards to stop some of these nut-jobs!

      DrDKW

        • Yep. Thanks to the extra-Constitutional legal concept of qualified immunity.

It should be treated just like the immunity that firearms manufacturers have. If the firearm functions as intended and the Government does it’s job as legislated, then immunity.

Make a defective firearm or don’t diligently execute the law, no immunity.

  2. I feel like I’m supposed to say what he did was ridiculous.
What I want to say is, good. Push the extremes far, fast and hard because if this is what it’s like being a gun owner during a “favorable” administration I want war before an unfavorable one has a chance to really piss me off.

    • Since we don’t know the make and model, he could have dropped it for a problem.

The trigger is much less likely to get pulled covered in a holster, than manipulating it. How many NG’s happen when in a holster, like 100% less than when not.

  3. Just as the automobile isn’t drunk but rather the person who chose to get behind the wheel intoxicated.

  4. When one exists in a society that creates large numbers of people that believe that inanimate objects have a will of their own, arguing about if they do or not is not the solution. Only a return to sanity can solve that problem.
Either a way must be found to return sanity to those ones, or they must be locked up away from the sane ones, or in some other way removed, before that society can recover. If that doesn’t happen then the insanity will spread until it destroys said society, and extinction will be exactly what it deserves.

  5. Pull out a loaded gun in a public
meeting?!? Yeah that worked for Judge Roy Moore. Perception is reality. Preaching to the choir…

  6. The left has used “divide and conquer” with great success. That being said…
Quite often, firearms owners are their own worst enemies. The duck hunters don’t like the AR-15 “black rifles” so they see no problem if attempts are made to ban them. The traditional rifle owners don’t like machine guns, so they have no problem with them being legislated out of existence. Some pistol owners see nothing wrong with certain long guns being outlawed just as some rifle owners would have no problem seeing pistols banned.
Friends, ALL firearms advocates must “hang together” and realize that an assault on ANY means of firearms ownership and self-defense is an assault on ALL forms of firearms ownership and self-defense.
There is absolutely NO ROOM for complacency among ANY Second Amendment supporters. An attack on one is an attack on ALL…
ALL firearms laws are unconstitutional on their face. Imagine the hue and cry if “reasonable” restrictions were placed on First Amendment activities, especially with the “mainstream media”. The Second Amendment is clear–what part of “shall not be infringed” do politicians and the media not understand…of course, they understand full well…it’s part of their communist agenda…

    • How many times a day do you paste this same comment in comment sections? The same question goes for the one below. Do you think people are reading them over and over and finding inspiration?

    • This is why the CNN Town Hall, the D.C. march and the op ed by former Justice Stephens are so helpful….they take off the mask and show that all gun owners are going to be targeted and their guns taken…it used to be the anti gunners would lie and say they just want “Assault Rifles.” Now, they want all semi automatic rifles, pistols and shotguns and 10 round magazines which ban millions of pistols……they may have been a little premature, they have warned us and we need to act….they think they can take the house and impeach Trump…if they do that the Senate will use the impeachment to refuse to appoint Trump Justices if ginsburg and kennedy retire or die…..we need to hold the Senate at a minimum and the house as well….if the House goes, the democrats can likely steam roll Never Trump republicans and squish republicans into supporting a refusal to appoint Trump nominees to the bench……..any vote for a democrat is a vote to end the 2nd Amendment.

  7. The problem is, we have allowed the anti Second Amendment crowd to define the terms.
A firearm is a tool which possesses no evil intent on its own. Assigning intent to an inanimate object is the epitome of insanity. Demonizing a weapon on “looks alone” also marks the accuser as an unstable individual who is also insane. Call them out on their illogic and insanity.
Another dirty tactic the anti-Second Amendment crowd uses exposes children to potential and actual harm by putting them in “gun-free zones”. These people care not one wit about children, but uses them for their own nefarious purposes.
We need to TAKE BACK the argument…
When the antis blame the firearm for the actions of a criminal, state that: “a firearm is an inanimate object, subject only to the intent of the user. Firearms ARE “equalizers” and are used to preserve life and make a 90 lb. woman equal to a 200 lb. criminal”.
When the antis attempt to justify their “gun free zones” counter their misguided argument with “you mean, criminal safety zones” or “victim disarmament zones”.
State that “we protect our money, banks, politicians and celebrities, buildings and facilities with PEOPLE WITH GUNS, but protect our children with “gun-free zone” signs”.
When the antis state that: “you don’t need and AR-15”, counter with, “Who are YOU to consider what I need or want?”
When the antis criticize AR-15s in general, counter with: “you mean the most popular rifle of the day, use able by even the smallest, weakest person as a means of self-defense. Besides, AR-15s are FUN to shoot”. Offer to take them to the range and supply them with an AR-15, ammunition and range time. I have made
    many converts this way.
When the antis state that: “You don’t need an AR-15 to hunt with”, counter with “AR-15s ARE used for hunting, but in many states, are prohibited from being used to take large game because they are underpowered”.
When the antis state that: “AR-15s are high powered rifles”, correct them by stating that “AR-15s with the .223 or 5.56mm cartridge are considered medium-powered weapons–NOT “high-powered” by any means”.
When the antis state that: “the Constitution was written during the time of muskets, and that the Second Amendment should only apply to “weapons of that time period”, state that: “by your logic, the First Amendment should not apply to modern-day telecommunications, internet, television, radio, public-address systems, books and newspapers produced on high-speed offset printing presses. Only “town-criers” and Benjamin Franklin type printing presses would be covered under the First Amendment”.
When the antis state that “only law enforcement and government should possess firearms”, remind them of the latest school shooting, as well as Columbine, where “law enforcement” SAT ON THEIR HANDS while children were being murdered, citing “officer safety”, afraid to challenge the shooter, despite being armed to the hilt. The government-run murderous sieges at Ruby Ridge and Waco are also good examples of government (mis)use of firearms. Let’s not forget the millions murdered under communism by their governments AFTER their firearms were confiscated.

      • Not anymore… According to some of the writing assignments I had back in school (1992-2005). They’d give a rather simple issue or open ended question and, when one sentence (i.e. shall not be infringed) was sufficient to answer the question and solve the problem they instead demanded at least 2-3 paragraphs.

Example: Bob drove drunk and hit a light pole after ramming a stopped church bus killing three nuns and an orphan they were transporting to the hospital for cancer treatment. Bob is now in jail and being raped by his cell mate, while being raped Bob thinks of how he could have avoided this situation. How do you think Bob could have avoided this situation?

Well, Bob could’ve called a taxi.

But that answer wouldn’t be acceptable even though it does avoid Bob’s current situation no we had to do 3 paragraphs on questions like that. Oh and before you ask no that was not an actual Open Response question I ever had to answer.

      • “Shall not be infringed”, STFU, FOAD.

There ya’ go. Brief, and to the point.

Also requires no thinking, no pondering the effectiveness of doing the same thing over again, expecting different results.

But brief, and to the point.

  8. If this was in south carolina I think it violates their near complete ban on open carry in public. SC is pretty anti gun.

  9. Any vote for a demorat is a vote to end the 2nd Amendment.

Anyone who sits out the election or doesn’t vote Republican while Trump is in office is voting to end the 2nd Amendment. Trump is the only one who can appoint Justices and judges, and allowing the democrats to win because you sit out the election will stop those appointments….which will end the 2nd Amendment.

Vote libertarian when he leaves office…..to vote libertarian now is to end the Bill of Rights.

    • This is a very important point.

All firearms owners and Bill of Rights supporters must vote in every election and vote for the candidates that are most likely to win and support the Bill of Rights. This will frequently mean voting for spineless RINOs in many races.

Voting for a candidate that is an ultra-strong supporter of gun rights or the Bill of Rights but can’t win the election is a vote for the other side.

If we can get legislative bodies stocked with mostly spineless RINOs and a strong Freedom Caucus (to the exclusion of Democrats/Leftists), we’ll secure the Bill if Rights for at least a generation.

  10. Well he is correct, problem is nobody except us cares. The left and the 2 fence straddlers left will never hear this as the media at large will either completely ignore it or paint this guy to be a total nutjob. The fence straddlers will ignore it as well because their lefty friends would disown them while shouting them down for daring to even entertain the thought that guns aren’t the root of all evil in this world.

    It’ll look something like this.

“It always has been up for reinterpretation,” Foster, D-Naperville, said during an event focused on gun violence. “The technology changes, and the weapons thought to be too dangerous to be in private hands change. A civil war cannon is frankly much less dangerous than weapons we are allowed to carry on the streets in many of the states and cities in our country today. This is something where technology changes and public attitude changes and both are important in each of the generations.”

  12. Identifying the Real Problem

As the late, great Robert Anson Heinlein said:

Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.

  13. Liberal POS (D) is the problem. Guns are more at work in shithole places run by them than anywhere else.

Wacko (D) use guns in more spectacularly bad ways than anyone else.

    (D) communists are attacking America through the guise of our own government and will likely have to be eradicated with extreme prejudice with the weapons that they are purposefully attacking for that reason.

The evil POS communist liberal (D) are the problem. The problem doesn’t get to define the problem. The problem doesn’t get to offer, or a say in, what the solution is.

    • You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Please, define a communist. It might be enlightening for you to read up.

      • Communist, Bolshevik, Leftie, Swine, Shitbag, etc… all the same thing when describing the fine folks he is referring to.

      • liberals and socialists are communists that haven’t come out of the closet, or haven’t played the game out to the end in their head yet.

communists are fV<king assholes that want to do a power pyramid-scheme and come out at or near the top (surpassed only by those who have promised them power or protection) a/k/a fV<kwad Maduro in shithole Venezuela, and the Castro fV<kbags, and . . . you if you stick up for any of them.

        F all of them.

communists are what America has thrown Billions of dollars, hundreds of thousands of lives, and blood sweat and tears at to eradicate since 1950. And we're not turning back on that LJ.

  14. Guns are banned from The Republican National Convention, the US Capital building, the White House, and Mar-a-Lago.

  15. Grandstanding. With all the Northeasters pouring into SC, the clock is running before pro RKBA politicians are replaced with granola crunching wild eyed yankees, who will swiftly pass the raft of Democrat anti gun bills that get nowhere as of now.

You dont have to move to California, California is coming to you.
