Also, 1998 called and they want their CRT monitor back. 🙂 Reply IndyEric says: January 24, 2013 at 12:06 Dang, you beat me to it! Reply jwm says: January 24, 2013 at 12:10 Uh-oh. You’re saying that monitor is outdated. Crap, I thought I had a system good enough for a doctor. Welcome Dr. Vino. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 12:22 AlphaGeek When you can get me an LCD display that renders the color tables for my functional brain scans correctly (with the same or better resolution), I’ll gladly make room…. Reply Stephen says: January 24, 2013 at 13:01 Hopefully you have a backup CRT…you may not be able to find one when that one goes. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 13:38 Yeah. I do worry about that, but there are companies that specialize in this. Prices are…. well…. you thought $4K ARs are too much…. Bobby says: January 24, 2013 at 13:02 Bazinga! Reply pc_load_letter says: January 24, 2013 at 13:33 Look into the new IPS based screens. PCLL Reply IndyEric says: January 24, 2013 at 12:06 Someone buy that guy a new monitor. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 12:24 See my comment to AlphaGeek I’ve returned so many flat displays that did not deliver color and resolution….. If it was your brain scan, would you want me to have the newest and coolest or the stuff that gives me the most accurate info? Reply Pascal says: January 24, 2013 at 12:28 NEC makes medical displays and also have 10bit color depth displays provided you have the correct video card as well. The display means nothing without the correct video card, driver and display. Also, your display must be color calibrated to your video card. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 12:31 This is a legacy Unix machine on a Digital Corp box. Have not seen anything do the job better yet. The “problem” lies in the fact that it’s legacy” equipment, but nothing out there can display the images the way I need them better than this. I like to call my system the Millenium Falcon of medical imaging platforms. Larry says: January 24, 2013 at 12:11 Wow. That’s a powerful statement. Thank you Dr. Vino! Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 12:30 Thanks, Larry It was either that or: “If I can be trusted to safely administer medical radioisotopes to thousands of people each year, why can’t I be trusted with a semiautomatic rifle”….. Reply Accur81 says: January 24, 2013 at 13:23 That, sir, is an excellent point. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 13:39 Thanks. I said as much to my anti-semi Rep. Thomas Paine says: January 24, 2013 at 12:42 Let me guess. Jordan? this is fun. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 12:43 “COLD” Reply Thomas Paine says: January 24, 2013 at 12:47 well then, Ussr, maybe Ukraine? Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 12:51 Do I look THAT old? Badger 8-3 says: January 24, 2013 at 13:24 Burma, back in 2007, I think. Narcoossee says: January 24, 2013 at 12:42 …And what about Twitter? Any TTAG presence there? Note his hash tag reference… Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 12:49 Are you trying to “out” me? As a physician copping to owning guns, I can handle only one coming out of the closet (er…. gun safe) in a day…. Reply Narcoossee says: January 24, 2013 at 13:03 Doc – I don’t understand your comment. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 13:41 I was trying to make a funny. Having seen what it’s like to hold other, politically incorrect beliefs back in the home country, I try to keep my gun interests on the down-low in professional circles. Not that there are no pro-gun docs: http://www.drgo.us/ Shankbone says: January 24, 2013 at 14:23 He’s making a joke, a funny joke about outing himself as a gun-owning physician, which is, unfortunately, an unpopular title in Dr. Vino’s line of work. Badger 8-3 says: January 24, 2013 at 13:27 DrVino, thank you. Not only for the services you provide as a physician, but also for your stance in regards to firearms ownership. Again, thank you. v/r Badger 8-3 Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 13:42 Thanks to everyone for the kind, welcoming and supportive words. Reply mchad says: January 24, 2013 at 13:49 Way to represent the medical community! Reply BlinkyPete says: January 24, 2013 at 14:12 This might be the most powerful one I’ve seen so far. Well done. Reply Shankbone says: January 24, 2013 at 14:24 +1 Reply Gerard says: January 24, 2013 at 15:44 Go Illini! Reply Ron Jones says: January 24, 2013 at 18:35 Its been said but OMG you lose 10 cool points for that computer set up. I almost cant take you seriously after seeing that picture. Reply DrVino says: January 24, 2013 at 19:12 Well, Ron Jones. You’re welcome to have your brain scan read by someone with a cool new monitor. Then, when you need an expert opinion, I’ll look at it on my ugly old CRT 😉 Reply okto says: January 24, 2013 at 18:39 This is the first IAAGO that has moved me. Gunned down for protesting food prices… Reply Brian in CA says: January 27, 2013 at 20:40 So Doc, I am late to the comment party, but I thought you should know that there are still Docs that take the 2A seriously even in California. I’ve done Range Safety Officer duty with a great ENT, and my wife’s ENT even trailed a bank robber until the PD could catch up (both in my gun club). Had a Doc shoot at our 4th of July Garand match, even! I like your juxtaposition of food riots to government tyranny – that is a CONCRETE event, not a “nibbling away of rights” that the anti’s want to paint as merely a more modern view of the social contract.
