Nick already did a stellar job highlighting Hillary Clinton’s anti-gun stance. reason.com gives pro-gun rights voters more reasons not to support her candidacy – as if you needed them. With the prospect of a Jeb Bush nomination, the question becomes: are you a single-issue voter?

July 1999: “If you have guns in your home,” Clinton tells middle school students on Long Island, “tell your parents to keep them away from you and your friends and your little brothers and sisters.” Addressing the National Education Association in Orlando, she says, “It does not make sense for us at this point in our history to turn our backs on the reality that there are too many guns and too many children have access to those guns—and we have to act to prevent that.” . . .

June 2000: Clinton endorses a bill introduced by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) that would requiire licensing and registration for handguns. “I stand in support of this common-sense legislation to license everyone who wishes to purchase a gun,” she says. “I also believe that every new handgun sale or transfer should be registered in a national registry, such as Chuck is proposing.”

August 2000: Clinton endorses a DLC position statement that says the government should “require ‘smart gun’ technology to prevent use of firearms by unauthorized persons.”

January 2008: Asked during a Democratic presidential debate whether “you’ve backed off a national licensing [and] registration plan,” Clinton says, “Yes.” She avers that “we need to enforce the laws that we have on the books” but adds, “I would also work to reinstate the assault weapons ban. We now have, once again, police deaths going up around the country, and in large measure because bad guys now have assault weapons again.”

April 2008: I respect the Second Amendment. I respect the rights of lawful gun owners to own guns, to use their guns, but I also believe that most lawful gun owners whom I have spoken with for many years across our country also want to be sure that we keep those guns out of the wrong hands. And as president, I will work to try to bridge this divide, which I think has been polarizing and, frankly, doesn’t reflect the common sense of the American people. We will strike the right balance to protect the constitutional right but to give people the feeling and the reality that they will be protected from guns in the wrong hands….

“What I favor is what works in New York. You know, we have a set of rules in New York City and we have a totally different set of rules in the rest of the state. What might work in New York City is certainly not going to work in Montana. So, for the federal government to be having any kind of, you know, blanket rules that they’re going to try to impose, I think doesn’t make sense.”

May 2014: “I think again we’re way out of balance. We’ve got to rein in what has become almost an article of faith that almost anybody can have a gun anywhere at any time. And I don’t believe that is in the best interest of the vast majority of people.”

June 2014: “I believe that we need a more thoughtful conversation,” Clinton says while promoting her memoir on CNN. “We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.” She says she favors “background checks that work” and twice refers erroneously to mass shooters with “automatic” weapons.

  1. Clinton says while promoting her memoir on CNN. “We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.”

Imagine how much crap she’d get if this was about a certain religion…..

  2. “I sometimes wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it.” – Mark Twain

    • “What difference at this point does it make?”

      The outcome is the same.
Climb aboard; the train is running on time.

  3. “We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.” For a second there, I thought she was talking about RFRA.

      • That’s right. Or why bother having a congress or any of them. All decisions can be made by a straight majority vote of the populace. The purpose of our designed gov was to make the right decision while having people represented in that decision process. “Majority is right” will only divide us.

  4. “On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

    — H.L. Mencken

I think Mencken meant to write “moronette.”

  5. Obama In 2008: “I Am Not Going To Take Your Guns Away …”

No, he’s going to leave that up to Hillary. Obama’s just laying the groundwork.

  6. If she wins things are gonna get ugly. I’m not sure there is a candidate in history with a worse reputation when it comes to gun rights. We are gonna have a brawl in front of us should the worst come to fruition.

    • If she is even close going into the election, we are going to see a run on guns and ammo again making her the next gun sales person of the year.

      • If the gop puts out even a moderately strong candidate, I don’t see Hilldawg (woof) winning. But I still see it being close because womynz, media bias, & free shit!

  7. —-With the prospect of a Jeb Bush nomination, the question becomes: are you a single-issue voter? —-

Yes, I’m afraid I am; and that issue is: “No Family Dynasty”. No Clinton – No Bush.

  8. A very close friend was Condi’s personal bodyguard, Hillary’s and now Kerry’s. This is his opinion of the three:
Condi: finest person he has ever met. Knows everyone by name and was involved with every family of everyone who worked for her, even the cleaning staff.
Hillary: imperious. Could not be bothered to even learn the name of the person guarding her or any personal details of his family.
    Kerry: dumb and imperious.

    • “Imperious.” That’s a perfect description of the whole left. “We are smarter than you and know what’s best for you.”

  9. Preachin’ to the choir. At least anyone with a modicum of intelligence(or integrity) knows where the hildebeast stands. Barry Soetoro not so muck(or much?) 7years ago. He didn’t appear to exist before he moved to Chicago-except for the guys he dealt drugs to. Hammer the beast day & night…

  10. I love my Constitutional Rights, I believe in the Constitution. Hilary Clinton does not believe in that, she believes in an anti-constitutional society, a socialist society. She is wrong for this country, in the same way that obama was absolutely wrong for this country, we should not make another mistake by giving creedance to the idea of her being presidential material.

  11. Oooohhhh……I am so excited! I’m ready for Hillary! Hey everybody, just keep pushing that D lever so we can get free stuff from all the robber barons! Yes, all those big bad gun owner bullies are terrorizing all the rest of us and Mommies demanding some action! Yes, Bolshevik Bloonberg and his Everytown for gunnonsense is trying to protect us from freedom, er, I mean big bad gun bullies. I love big sister!

  12. “I respect the Second Amendment. I respect the rights of lawful gun owners to own guns”

“Sure, I’ll respect you in the morning.”

  13. Is that a photo of the tin man from the wizard of dc? Geee….Toto, I don;t think we are in Kansas anymore! Just follow the red communist road in your socialist slippers!

  14. I was going to point out the contradictions between her January 2008 and April 2008 quotes, but then I remembered that pretty much everything she says is b.s. anyway.

  15. It is possible that the Hildebeast will win. It is also equally or more possible that the Republicans will still control Congress. That will make it possible, actually likely, that her regulatory moves will be thwarted by the opposition. She is such a divisive personality that I could see veto overrides against her when they were not attempted against Obama. She has no race card to play and is weaker for that reason.

  16. Pretty good probability that HRC will win unless she trips herself up…which could happen. Not that I’m advocating another run on guns and ammo, but it might be prudent to gradually top off your supplies over the next 18 months…just sayin’.

  17. Well, I agree with that very first statement at least. Not sure what was controversial about that. Gun Safety 101: don’t let kids play with them.

  18. Hillary could win. I was surprised Obama was elected twice. After all those CEOs ran away with our tax dollars, investments, and time, without any prison sentences after the housing market crash. Then their damage was mopped up with trillions of tax payers dollars, I was left confused. So yeah – Marxism round two.

  19. “… the question becomes: are you a single-issue voter?”

The Second Amendment may look like a single issue, but it provides an excellent, very fast way to judge candidates on a wide array of issues. If they say “I support the Second Amendment, BUT…”, you know they will come down on the side of increasing government power over the individual, and that they see the Constitution as a problem for their quest for that power.

As Thomas Jefferson said, “A fair and just government has nothing to fear from an armed citizenry.” Any politician who wants to put “reasonable limits” on gun ownership reveals themselves as unlikely to promote a fair and just government, and as highly likely to want to trash your other rights as well.

    • TTAG and RF have said time and again they call it, like they see it.

I remember the tag line from a horrible franchise vs. franchise movie.
      “Whomever wins, we lose”

And you can apply that to Clinton 2.0 and Bush 3.0. Statists, anti-constitutionalists, it’s not fear, when the danger is real. The danger of losing our fair republic.

  20. The questions I always ask gun control supporters and those many haters of the NRA are these: first off- how many legally or illegally obtained firearms were used for 9-11, the greatest terrorist attack ever executed on American soil? Second question- how many airline companies in America faced lawsuits because their aircraft were improperly used to kill innocents? Third question- exactly how many box cutter knife companies were sued and put out of business after 9-11? Fourth question- are you ashamed of your intellectual dishonesty and your shameless hypocrisy when you seek to make the NRA and gun owners of America culpable for the actions of evil people who calculate the difficult if not impossible to prevent slaughter of innocents? Fifth question- since a great many legislators in high public office have CCPs and/or armed security details 24/7, will there be a requirement for these private citizens to disarm, or is the requirement to be disarmed only for the regular, “unimportant” private citizens in America?

  21. Excellent post however I was wondering if you could write a little more on this subject? I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit more. Many thanks!
