  1. The first thing he said is that the 2nd Amendment is outdated. He also says it is a collective right for the militia, and not an individual right, claiming the courts have agreed on it.

I’m sorry to break it to you the courts have declared the opposite back in 2008 in Heller that it is indeed an individual right…

I’m proud to stand with you good folks, and help fight so that there might still be something left for your kids, but I try not to think about what this country’s going to look like 50 years from now.

  3. It all makes sense. No guns no gun deaths or violence. Too bad that isn’t a possibility according to our Constitution.

I read a piece on economics that showed a correlation between economic progress in one country and other countries emulating the social and political trends of that economic leader. Looks like China’s the leader. All hail the Peoples Republic of the United States or move to the sovereign country of Texas.

Pfft… laws are for little people.

  5. So we need cops and world governments on every corner with guns to murder only innocent people.

    Did I get that right?

    Sounds good.

(Sadly, yes, this is how intelligent most of our nation is.)

  6. “What are they going to do with an assault rifle when a tank pulls up?”

Oh, I don’t know, lets ask the VCA in Vietnam, and the islamic insurgents in Afghanistan what they do when a tank shows up.

This guy hasn’t a clue about military strategy and tactics. I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure a few million armed civilians could easily seize domestic fuel sources. A tank or drone is pretty ineffective without fuel.

Next you seize and hold shipping ports to prevent the import of fuel. I’m sure the military could try to get fuel from other countries, but thanks to the friends we’ve made overseas, other countries might think twice about supplying the US military with fuel during a civil insurrection.

Now I realize all of this is academic and highly unlikely. But academic scenarios also apply to the pro-gun argument. My academic question for academic types is this:

Does a law-abiding citizen giving up his natural-born right to self-defense make society as a whole safer?

Last year 32,367 people died in automobile deaths. Surely my driving privilege and mere presence on the road increases the risks for all those around me. Should we all give up the privilege of driving simply because it increases the risks for those around us?

If we are free human beings, the answer is NO.

  10. If these are examples of her ideas on common sense solutions that don’t trample on the Constitution then I would hate to see what they think would have gone to far. /sarc

Can the south and southwest leave the union now? Honestly, at what point will we decide that they’ve gone too far?

    Reply
    • That would be a great idea except for the fact that most southern states wouldn’t be able to fund themselves. Texas, sure, but TN or MS take far more federal dollars than they contribute. They might last a few months before they run back to the Union broke.

A better tactic would be working on reform, not separation.

  11. Christie supported the Clinton AWB, is against concealed carry, supports the NJ one gun a month law and here is what he said to Hannity in a n interview while running for governor:

Christie: We have a densely populated state and there’s a big handgun problem in New Jersey. Now, I don’t support all the things that the governor supports, by a long stretch. But on certain gun control issues, looking at it from a law enforcement perspective, seeing how many police officers were killed — we have an illegal gun problem in New Jersey.

Hannity: Should every citizen in your state be allowed to get a licensed weapon if they want one?

Christie: In New Jersey, that’s not going to happen, Sean.

    Hannity: Why?

Christie: Listen, with the Democratic Legislature that we have, there is no way those type of things –

    Hannity: Would you support it.”

Christie: Listen, at the end of the day, what I support are common sense laws that will allow people to protect themselves. But I also am very concerned about the safety of our police officers on the streets. Very concerned. And I want to make sure that we don’t have an abundance of guns out there.

  13. Guns may be bad.

If I could sprinkle “anti-weapon powder” all over the world and make all weapons (including knives) nonfunctional (except for use in hunting), I would certainly consider it. Guns aren’t necessarily “good” (though one could make that argument, with the 200 lb male, 100 lb frail woman neutralizing effect.) Similarly, I’m not necessarily “pro-gun” (though I own a variety) or “anti-gun”.

However, having a select group try fruitlessly to disarm everyone else, creating an imbalance of power, with unrealistic promises of less crime, is just an attempt at a power grab. Supporting such efforts is a dangerous coping mechanism. Gun control, the way some think of it, can’t and won’t ever exist.

Seat belts are bad. They are inconvenient, add to the car price, sometimes kill people, and can be used to commit suicide/homicide when removed from the car, but I use them for safety. Oh no. I may be entering non-sequitur territory, again.

  14. It is literally true that the fewer guns there are, the less gun violence there will be. England, for example, has very few GUN deaths. But this in no way means that there will be less violence, and again Jolly Old England is the apt example: its rate of violent crime is five times higher than in the united States. Funny how these people “overlook” this afact. To me, I don’t care if he has a gun, a knife, or a tire iron–it’s gonna hurt either way, and all are potentially fatal.

Fewer gun deaths? Probably. Fewer deaths by violence? Most probably not; in fact, violent crime will likely increase if the people are defenseless. Doh.

In other words they were waiting for tragedy to “exploit” to further their goals. Sweet! They use the opportunity of 20 dead children. Typical Demotards.

At the national level, us gunnies aren’t a factor. We are outnumbered by the hippies and the leftist voting bloc.Christies chances for POTUS won’t be dented in the least when he signs these proposals into law, and in fact he may gain popular support among the liberal minded in America.Unlike Obama,Christie took a decisive stand against gun violence,et cetera.

    • Where this could hurt him is in the Democratic primaries in the pro-gun states. Despite what a lot of posters here think there are quite a few pro-2A Dems in those states who, given a choice, will take the candidate they think will respect their 2A rights while giving them the other stuff they want. If such a candidate runs it could hurt guys like Christie who freshly signed a bunch of laws

      • Politics is about math.Out of 80 million gun owners, only 5 million are NRA members.Outside of online forums like this one, guns are not a political priority. We naturally care about it ,but most of the masses will react to Christie signing gun control bills with a shrug and wonder what his stance is on abortion and pension reform.

  17. I realize this article is two years old but I do feel a need to point out one thing for anyone bothering to read this.

“Since 1997, Aimpoint has been providing red-dot optics to the U.S. Army, for use atop M4 carbines and various light machine guns. From the broiling heat of a Baghdad summer to the bitter cold of an Afghan winter, Aimpoint has earned the trust of our fighting men and women and of their leaders.”

This is wrong. Aimpoint has earned the trust of some guys in procurement who keep issuing them to us. For ten years I have repeatedly ripped every Aimpoint the army has issued me off my rifle. They either lose the ability to keep their zero or something happens to the battery compartment. Early designs we got in 2004 actually rotated in the mountings despite our armorer’s best efforts. I won’t advertise what we did use because everyone goes their own way. Also an issue which doesn’t seem to be reported in the civilian media is the battery life. They do not last for years, or even one year. They can last awhile but they go dim before they go out and the power consumption just rises when soldiers turn up the brightness to get what they still can out of them. More than once I’ve seen a soldier take his Aimpoint off his weapon on patrol and flip up his back up sight. Just thought people might like to know that Aimpoint’s vaunted military reputation is so much bunk with the guys who actually go out and get into fights.

PS- Because I can already hear it, the problem was and is widespread. Every time I come into contact with these things on a unit level scale there are easily double the number of Aimpoints breaking than anything else the Army has out there that day.

  20. So Joe Biden is doing a service by cutting through the “abstractions” that make the difference between owning a shotgun and owning a semiauto rifle.

I’m glad the Daily Beast cleared that up. Now that I know the difference between a side-by-side shotgun blasting out little pellets and a rifle firing a single projectile is only an abstraction, I want a shotgun AND a rifle. I could use more abstraction in my life.

I could see this guy getting SO mad at all you gun owners that he goes out and shoots a bunch of us…, you know, to save the children.

We need to kill the gun owners in order to save the world.

As any vacation should be (with guns or without). I hope you got to see some cool stuff while you were there.

One of the few highlights of my grad school experience was spending a week in England and Wales for a lit conference. Not sure I’d want to live in the UK, with its crime rate and population density and totalitarian mindset — though as with most places, which part you live in probably makes all the difference — but it’s a great place to visit.

If I had the opportunity I’d go again in a heartbeat, and for a lot longer than a week.

  24. Joe might want to talk to those Korean store owners who were only able to protect their lives, families and properties with AR 15 rifles. This occurred during the LA riots caused by the Rodney King decision. Remember that Joe? The police kept their officers off the streets because it was too dangerous for them. Same with the fire departments. So what you’re telling me is that that gang of thirty rioters will flee if I have a shotgun? Could you cite any evidence of such an event ever occurring? I don’t think so. I’m also upset that someone is trying to ban my rights to firearms
when they don’t even know the correct terminology. Not double barreled Joe it’s either a side by side or over and under shotgun. Just as a clip is completely different than a magazine. Now your ignorance wouldn’t mean a rats ass to me other than the fact that you’re trying to ban items that you aren’t even aware of the correct definition of said item. Everyone else is upset that the pro-control types are trying to ram legislation down our throats without regard to Federal or State Constitutions. I’m a little upset too. Like the NY Safe Act Cuomo passed in NY. They forgot to make any provisions for law enforcement. I think that’s fine as law enforcement shouldn’t be armed more than the citizenry however I’m pretty sure that those who rammed this Act through don’t share my beliefs. Keep on pushing your agenda….you may get just what you wish for but I assure you it won’t be anything like you imagine…

  25. Also in his wishlist,
    no “grandfathering”.
All “High” (Standard) capacity magazines, and “assault weapons” to be sold (to OOS FFL)/turned in/rendered legal (magazines permanently limited to 10 rounds)

But good news, it “allows” semiautomatic shotguns that hold no more than 3 (three) rounds! Assuming of course said shotgun doesn’t have one of the now standard assault weapon mods (grenade launcher, shroud, shoulder thing that goes up, et al)

  27. This is how you argue your points. Not with insults or blaming the liberals/Obama. Clear concise points that are truth. BTW, where are the major guns players in this fight? Oh yeah, bringing in the $$$. Supporting NRA…ha, just to get a tax write off and pocket some money into their friends accounts. Serious, people think about it. The small companies are not supporting LEO orders, but the major players are. While bringing in the millions if not billions of your hard earned money.

  28. Then citizen gun owners will abandon you and your products… Just kidding. The way things are right now, Armalite will not lose a single sale because of this. Those companies that stopped sales to law enforcement will also not lose a single sale. The demand is way too high for any of this to matter. Some people may not buy Armalite to protest but I know they would not last 10 minutes in any of my local gun shops.

    Reply
  29. I guess ArmaLite better hope their are enough LEO’s in NY to take up the slack from the civilian market. Cuz I ain’t buying from them now, and I’m not alone.

    Reply
  30. Earlier Armalite stated that they were not responsible for the
election of the New York legislators that voted for the SAFE
act. That I could deal with. This new statement from Armalite
makes it look like they default to “support our brothers-in-blue”
without questioning whether such support is warranted.
They point out that abandoning good cops is counter
productive. Fair enough, but there’s no mention about putting
pressure on the high up LEOs who support the SAFE act.
So how exactly does Armalite reconcile their support for rank-
and-file without giving atleast tacit approval to the politicians
    responsible for this mess?

  32. while i can understand that there ARE good officers fighting for the rights of citizens, usually these states bank on the blessing of the police unions before presenting any legislature banning anything. The LEO are ALWAYS exempt from these laws and thats’s why they don’t have a problem signing off on bad laws.

until they FEEL the PAIN, it will never affect them. if the LEO know that by signing off on bad law, they will be boycotted, (exemption or not) they will think twice about simply approving anything since it affects them. that’s what happened in Kali, the LEO union wouldn’t sign off on the AWB until there was an exemption put in for them. once that happened, they were all too happy to!
HURT the GOOD and BAD cops the same way that GOOD and BAD gun owners are affected, then they won’t be so quick to sign off on bad legislation.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr20MX-oI8Q
Piers Morgan has to see that.. by the way talking about firearm homicides and giving the low number of this kind of homicide in the UK, like he did, is very misleding, the gun prohibitionnists who give such statistics should be confronted with the real number of homicides with others means than firearms, this shows that when firearms are banned the number homicides stays it just shifts on other means.

The same policy and the same failure in Australia:

  35. The Bob Adams case is an inapt example. His guns were seized not because he had “illegal” assault weapons, but because the ATF believes–with really no evidence at all that has been disclosed to date–that he may be involved in illegal gun sales, something fully within the ambit of their authority to investigate and prosecute. This so far appears to be part of the ATF’s continuing effort to shut down home based FFLs.

Now that they have their messiah they feel empowered to shove this down our throats like their communist version of healthcare. I wondered how the lines would be drawn and who would designate the socialist states from the free ones. Who will be first to secede and where will the first shots be fired . We know the goal is to disarm us before it gets to that point. Looks like they’re setting the rules as they go. We’re watching one state behind the other fall and the ones who wish to remain free making their will known. 1860’s all over agai mixed in with the American Revolution. Basic God given freedom and States Rights. These liberal Tards will never learn. Here we go again.
