Disassembling an AR-15: Guns for Beginners

Jon Wayne Taylor shows Israeli model and new shooter Michal Idan how to disassemble — and assemble — an Underground Tactical AR-15.

  1. avatar FortWorthColtGuy says:

Sorry guys, I like pretty girls like everyone else, but this is not right. This is just click bait.

I thought we were the armed intelligentsia not the armed creepy OFWGs.

If we want to bring women into our fold we need to show we respect them and don’t look at them like objects.

    1. avatar pwrserge says:

Project much? The only person treating her as a “object” is you.

      1. avatar RidgeRunner says:

Totally agree, FWCG needs to get off his high horse, it’s just two people, talkin’ guns. Nothing disrespectful about it, in fact quite the contrary. Man, LOOKING for something to gripe about. Is this a micro aggression?

    2. avatar HomelyGalsNeedLoveToo says:

Pandering, no doubt…and not particularly subtle. But yeah, it’s not like there’s not enough “average” lookin’ gals who have never stripped an AR before to go around…just sayin’.

    3. avatar Cliff H says:

It is possible to look at and admire a pretty woman while not treating them like “objects”. I’ve done it many times.

Additionally, if she did not want to be looked at and admired Michal would not appear in public, or in videos, looking the way she does.

      1. avatar peirsonb says:

Dunno, there is a while host of feminazis our there touting the whole “stare rape” thing.

    4. avatar HomelyGalsNeedLoveToo says:

Just wait until you see tomorrow’s exciting episode on how to field strip bazookas!

    5. avatar RocketScientist says:

Man, the White-Knighting is strong with this one! Hey man, hate to break it to you, but your odds of sleeping with Ms. Idan only moved from absolutely zero to still absolutely zero. Only think you accomplished is make yourself look like a whiny spineless little man.

      1. avatar Captain Obvious says:

And you call yourself a ‘rocket scientist’. Nobody wants to ‘sleep’ with her.

  2. avatar Paul53 says:

    Tough job.

  3. avatar pwrserge says:

I don’t think an IDF trained Israeli citizen counts as a “beginner”…

    1. avatar jwtaylor says:

Never fired a gun, never even held a rifle in her life.

      1. avatar Jerimiah Harrell says:

She has had her hands on a rifle. Unless those pics of her on her pages with a Tavor are all faked. Also the pics of the Uzi Carbine and the SAW.

        1. avatar jwtaylor says:

I don’t know if those were props or not, but they weren’t loaded and they were for RF as well. She’s certainly not loaded or fired one. She was scared as hell. She wasnmore comfortable with a pistol, but shouldering a rifle took her a few tries, and she had to walk away from it and come back before she was comfortable pulling the trigger. Still, she got ahold of herself and ended up enjoying it, but is scared her pretty good.

      2. avatar ATTAGReader says:

I thought all Israelis had compulsory IDF training and national service. Is this incorrect?

        1. avatar jwtaylor says:

This is incorrect. They all perform service, but it does not have to be military. In Ms. Idan’s case, she worked for a police force in a clerical role.

  4. avatar Danny Griffin says:

Um, if she is Israeli she’s been in the military and she’s not a new shooter, right?

    1. avatar Warren says:

Only about 65% of Israeli women actually serve in IDF. If you emigrate to Israel after the age of 17, you are generally exempt from service. Further, you can be exempted on marital, pregnancy, or religious orthodoxy grounds. In the event you opt out, you are required to fulfill an equivalent amount of time doing social or educational work. There may also be an age requirement to the conscription, and I’m not certain, but Michal doesn’t even look old enough to be able to fulfill said conscription requirements.

      1. avatar Danny Griffin says:

My wife and I took a cruise a few years ago and our nightly dining partners were an Israeli mother and daughter pair taking a long vacation before the daughter’s last year of school, right after which she said that she had to go into the IDF. So the girl was 16 or so and absolutely stunning.

        1. avatar jwtaylor says:

She had a religious exemption. This was her first time shooting.

        2. avatar Danny Griffin says:

          She had a religious exemption.

Dressed like that. Religious exemption. Right. I recognize the traditional Orthodox modest female garments.

        3. avatar Warren says:

I checked their enlistment and conscription ages, and it looks to be 17 and 18, respectively. There was no distinction made between male and female, so I assume it’s the same for both. Again, I have no idea how old Michal is, but she looks young enough to be one of my daughters, so I’m not certain she’s old enough to have served yet. I could be wrong.

        4. avatar jwtaylor says:

Mr. Griffin, which one of us are you calling a liar, me or her?

      2. avatar יצחק בּוזוף says:

You don’t have to be a liar to just be incorrect.

No orthodox jewish girl would be wearing a tank top and open midriff outfit. Ever. She may be observant or דָּתִי לְאוּמִּי, but she is not traditionally orthodox.

And it is not all “orthodox” that get an exemption, it is only the haredi types. What most people think of as “orthodox” in the US is דָּתִי לְאוּמִּי in Israel and they all serve in IDF — the men and the women. Women serve in women only units.

She is not haredi. If she got an exemption, it wasn’t for religious reasons.

        1. avatar יצחק בּוזוף says:

OK, now I read more about her — she was >raised< in a orthodox family (haredi) and she quit that lifestyle when she became adult. She had an exemption because she was still frum when she was 17.

        2. avatar jwtaylor says:

So I was neither lying nor incorrect. Whats the Hebrew for “I apologize”? Cause that’s what you should have said.

  5. When you’re done with her Mr. Taylor, send her over to my place and I will show her how to pour a proper Black and Tan.

    1. avatar jwtaylor says:

Which she won’t drink. Only drinks water, and purely a vegetarian. When we went to breakfast, she had never seen bacon. Get that, not just had never eaten bacon, but had never even seen it. I explained to her that something was clearly wrong with her life, and that no one had ever loved her. Robert thought that was a bit harsh, but…gotta speak the truth, you know.

  6. avatar Joe says:

Auto-playing videos are the absolute worst thing on the entire internet… I can’t even look at this site anymore when the moment the page loads, my speakers start blaring.

    1. avatar Wanker says:

AdBlock Plus and Ghostery. Stops roaches dead.

      1. avatar peirsonb says:

Yeah, but the new, non-YouTube player is a feature, not a bug. And IT’S the one doing the auto playing.

        1. avatar Michael says:

Well my blockers won’t even play it if I try…sheesh

      2. avatar explainist says:

        workplace computer. no unauthorized software.

defaulting to having something waved in your face is foolish.

there are at least 2 Russian websites devoted to showing young women who can’t afford clothing which have learned how to override both the mute and the volume control on your computer, which compels people who might stumble into said websites to carry an MP3 player cable to mute accidental discharge of odd noises. you can’t override a hardware mute.

The viewer should not have things imposed on them. that is an intrusion. you can’t know that you will be intruded on until you are intruded. and that ain’t right.

  7. avatar Dr. Vinnie Boombotz says:

Well Mr. Taylor, like Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth says in the David Lynch classic “Blue Velvet”, ‘Suave? G*ddam you are one suave f*ck!’.

  8. avatar Foosball says:

What everyone wants to know, however, is WHATS IN HIS POCKETS? DUMP EM!

  9. avatar kevin says:

The old guy showing the supermodel what’s what is just typical click bait. Now find me a hottie with real gun skills to school the old guy, that’s worth my time.

    1. avatar Paul53 says:

Preferably wearing Daisy Dukes! I’ll objectify. A young fit women is one of God’s most beautiful creations and it would be wrong not to appreciate God’s work! (back story: trauma nurse for 30 years. Seen EVERYTHING inside out. Now I just want to stop and look at the stars.)

  10. avatar Curtis in IL says:

I’ll not fault a man for wanting an excuse to spend time with a beautiful young woman. But there are already about 6,000 Youtube videos out there showing how to field strip an AR-15. Every two-bit gun salesman/trainer has done one. I’m pretty sure Hickok45 did one.

So… you could have just thrown up a link and be done with it.
    Just sayin’.

  11. avatar jwtaylor says:

So this is my first time seeing the video, and here are a couple of mistakes. First, early on I say that the magazine may be a little different than the Tavor. I got to shoot a Tavor quite a bit while visiting Israel and it had a 20 round metal magazine. The folks I was with said they couldn’t use PMAGs. Since then, I’ve personally found that the X95 handles 30 round PMAGs just fine, so they may be using them in Israel now as well.
Also, at one point I touch the upper receiver, and call it a lower. I can’t really hear what I’m sayin in the audio, but for beginners, the part with the trigger is the lower, the part with the barrel is the upper.
I also said bullet when I normally would have said case. This was actually intentional. Ms. Idan’s first language is not English, and the parts of a round nomenclature was a little confusing earlier in the day. But since she understood bullet, I just stuck with that.

    1. avatar Janus says:

One thing left out of the video, make sure the bolt in inserted right side up. Bolt can be inserted into the bolt carrier, while rotated 180 degrees. Extractor then goes to the wrong side.

      1. avatar jwtaylor says:

How do you get the retaining pin in? It will only fit in one way.

  12. avatar Phil says:

definitely a clic bait video… but hey, it works! What to say, I like big guns 😉

  13. avatar YaDaddy says:

This whole thing reminds me of my most memorable exchanges from the TV series “Cheers.”

Cliff Claven: “yHeh I wouldn’t kick her outta bed for eating’ crackers.”

Carla: “Yeah and why else would she be there?”

  14. avatar ButtHurtz says:

    Who cares? Boobs!

  15. avatar Anonymous says:

Wait wait – So hold up. She has a full auto Tavor???

    1. avatar Janus says:

I think he meant “yours” as in the Israel’s Tavor, not her personal. Although if she were to enlist, she would have a Tavor of her own.

      1. avatar jwtaylor says:

        Yup. Sorry for the confusion.

  16. avatar PsyHawk says:

OMG! I’m triggered by all of these accusations! TRIGGERED!!!! OMG!!!!!

In a gun group, the only thing that should be triggered… IS THE GUN!

  17. avatar Tom in Georgia says:

Just shaking my head and quietly chuckling.

Everyone takes everything far too seriously these days. Let’s keep things in perspective, okay folks?

  18. avatar Bob Scaremonge says:

יצחק בּוזוף‎ got his ass schooled, he likes to troll pages and usually gets burned dong it, thinks he’s an operator, likes to tell that to people on other pages as well..ignore him he’s a troll..
