Defensive Gun Use of the Day: Desert DGU Edition

Yet another Vegas tale of woe. But this one wasn’t the result of too much time spent at a craps table. Instead, it came from to much time spent in someone else’s home. “A news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says its Dispatch Center received a call around 7:45 a.m. from the occupant of a home in the 2300 block of Westwind Road indicating intruders were attempting to forcibly gain entry into his house.” That was the word yesterday from mynews3.com. There were three intruders, actually, and while it’s not clear from the news report, when the the 72-year-old homeowner retrieved his gun, he hit at least one of them . . .

And that was enough to convince all three home invaders to retreat into the  desert morning.

Arriving officers encountered one suspect attempting to flee the area in a vehicle. This suspects’ vehicle collided with an arriving officers’ patrol car, and the suspect, a Latin male, was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

A second suspect, also tentatively identified as a Latin male, was last seen fleeing on foot eastbound into the surrounding residential neighborhood and remains outstanding.

Officers searching the backyard of the victim’s residence found a third individual, tentatively identified as a Latin male, deceased from an apparent gunshot would. A handgun was also recovered from the backyard.

Good thing there were only three of them. If there’d been more he might have had to use as many as, say, eleven bullets. Maybe even twelve. And while that almost never happens, it’s nice to have the option. Maybe he should write his Senator to let him know that magazine capacity limits really aren’t a good idea.

  1. I was reading an article on the huffingpost yesterday regarding an AWB and how it’s unlikely to pass. Liberals were leaving comments such as this:

Of course they will continue to put the poor (poor aka the criminal, murderer, shooter etc.) in jail while gun manufacturers get away scott free. It’s the American way.

These people make me sick. It’s no wonder our country has gone to s**t with so many of these people running around.

  2. As a youngster I was raised in a hellfire and brimstone southern Baptist environment. That was a time when you could still see “Whites Only” signs in the South. Women breast fed their kids. Even in church. They had a baby blanket draped over and most of the folks were adult enough to handle it. Very few women bottle fed their kids.

I say welcome to you, Ma’am. And these people who claim to be gun owners and are being critical of you? If they get this rattled over such a natural act they’ll be worse than useless in a real emergency. Wind up shooting themselves in the foot.

  3. Yet you don’t complain about the freedom that you have that comes from those “barely grown up children” being drafted and forced to fight and die in wars for this country. The govt trusts them with grenade launchers, full auto machine guns, tanks, battleship guns, c4, landing 2 billion dollar jets, etc etc, but you are “afraid” because they might conceal a little handgun for personal protection? GTFO!
