Choate‘s new Night Manager shotgun magazine extension gives you two more rounds of capacity and a length of rail you can position wherever you like. The extension is held in place with an AR castle nut so you can rotate it so your laser or light exactly where you want it.

Bald Knob, AR – Choate Machine and Tool, a leading designer, manufacturer and OEM supplier of rifle stocks, shotgun magazine extensions and firearms accessories, has introduced the Night Manager, a shotgun magazine tube extension with an integral light and accessory mounting system. Night Manager boosts capacity by two extra shotshells and has an indexable Picatinny rail section to add a light or laser as needed.

The Night Manager is an all steel construction magazine tube extension with an aluminum shroud that is drilled and tapped along the bottom and sides for mounting Picatinny rail sections. Its unique design allows the shroud to rotate to orient the attached Picatinny rails where needed and then uses an AR-15 castle nut to lock it down in the desired location. By mounting accessories on the magazine tube extension it allows use of the full length of the shotgun’s forend, which often can be short on law enforcement models.

Currently the Night Manager is available for the Remington 870, 1100, 11-87 and also for the H&R Pardner pumps and Hawk 982. For Mossberg shotguns the Night Manager is available for the 590, 835, 930 5500 and the 9200 shotguns.

Now available with an MSRP of $92.77, the Night Manager comes complete with everything needed to mount the extension and includes a 3-slot section of compatible Picatinny rail, fasteners, magazine tube follower and spring.

    I just started looking for a two shot extension for my old school Remy 1100 that i am reworking into home defense gun ala Black Aces Tactical.
    Big plus with the added rail.

    • The Shockwave is a 590, so I don’t see why not. It might look a little funny and you’d be getting your hand out near the front of the muzzle to manipulate anything on the rail.

    • The shorties barrels are pretty short, short enough that a +2 extension
      might stick out beyond the muzzle farther than I’d be comfortable with.

      I mean, the biggest draw they have is that they are short.
      Why start making them longer ?

      I’d love to see this in a +1 for the short shotties, though.
      Although, there is a little scuttlebutt going around the message boards
      that a +1 extension may or may not add +1 2 3/4 inch shell, due to variances in
      shell length. I’d love to see that confirmed one way or the other.

    • There are many competition pump and semi auto shotguns that have tubes extending quite a ways past the barrel, but they aren’t usually in cylinder bore either, I guess. Other than looking funky I guess the hand issue is significant. I don’t plan on doing it but was just thinking aloud about the practicality of it.

  2. If I recall, the Rem mag tubes have a dimple near the cap that needs to be altered for extentions to work flawlessly. Check into this with the manufacturer.

  3. That’s a neat idea, but not neat enough for me to put $100 towards it. I guess I should be looking at it through the lens of the cost of a reliable mag extension and the cost of a light mount.

      Agree completely. I would be reluctant to spend $25 on a steel tube. At close to $100 (including shipping), no way.
