So JP from Boston, Massachusetts sends us his “Boston Summer Carry” for Everyday Carry‘s Pocket Dump of the Day for today.  Massachusetts:  One of the most anti-gun states in the nation.  And JP’s got a S&W Shield in a Bravo Concealment rig (I recommend, by the way), and a spare mag under his shirt.

He writes that his occupation is pest control.   I read that as cop.

The only fundamental missing from his gear is a light.  He’s got a Tops Wolf Pup blade.  That works for truly up-close and personal work.  And for weapon retention.  Along with an Old Timer pocket knife for utility purposes.

      • He might not be politically connected. I carry in Boston every day I’m down there (can’t while actually in my office – so had to build a safe into my vehicle), but I’m a non-resident (and have a non-resident permit). He might just have a permit from one of the “free-er” towns surrounding Boston (or from the staties like I do). If he lived in Boston or Brookline or a few other cities immediately surrounding, I would tend to agree he likely is a police officer or connected.

  4. I have a cousin in Boston. He just retired. Did some secret squirrel shit at Logan International. Yeah, you can get a CCW if you are willing to jump through the hoops. Bill is a big Sig fan. Gave me my first one. When his wife retires in a couple of years he’s bailing out for the South. He’s from south of the Mason-Dixon Line. All other left wing, liberal, kommiecrats, remain in place. Oh, not a bad carry.

  5. I’m just north of Boston and did not have a hard time getting a CCW. Of course limited selection, 10 round mags, and no Colt Sporters and such. And I can’t really talk about it because most people in this area are raging leftists. But there are little pockets of sanity here and there.

      I agree. Not hard to get one in MA in most cities (or even from the State). All about approach (how you act and dress) and what you put in your application, according to the state lawyer at MA BFS I talked to for my first permit as a non-resident 8 years ago. Just glad I don’t have to go back in person to renew annually to Chelsea, MA. Still, it’s a pain in the wallet at $100 annually for a non-resident. And I don’t have to abide by the approved handgun rosters. Just the 10 round “clipazines”.

  7. This gentleman may have a carry permit but that small fix blade knife isnt legal in Boston…
    Current law is a folder less than 2.5” (Im serious)
