This week in Birmingham, Alabama, at around 10:00 a.m., 31-year-old Eric Austin attempted to break into his estranged wife’s home and rape her. He wasn’t planning to wait for the police to get there and rescue her. He probably also wasn’t planning for her to be able to defend herself.

Fortunately, the woman was legally armed, and able to stop him by shooting him in the leg. By the time the police arrived, Austin had already fled in his car. He didn’t get far, though. He was only a few blocks away when he was stopped and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After police and detectives questioned him, he was charged with attempted rape and second degree domestic violence and will be booked in jail upon release from the hospital.

Although unfortunate, there’s nothing out of the ordinary about this domestic violence incident. In fact, two or three women are killed by their husbands or intimate partners every day in the United States. In this case, a gun in the victim’s hands may have kept her from adding to that statistic.

  1. What James Wilson said. Now taxpaying citizens have to foot the bill for yet another scumbag. Take him out to the wall & line up the firing squad. The cost of a bullet. Cheaper than the multiple thousands of dollars to house & feed him for however long he’s incarcerated.

  2. You quote “information” from (and LINK TO) the “Violence Policy Center”? Really? Why don’t you spout what Obumer, Hillary, Pravda, ABD or “the “Southern Poverty Law Center” or other progtards claim.

Get a clue/you’re not at Mother Jones.

    • Those places are occasionally right about some things.

In this case, the VPC did a good job of collecting and presenting the same FBI statistics we’d use if we were to do all the legwork ourselves. If you’re smart, you’ll take good information wherever you can get it.

The part of the report where the VPC draws its conclusions is garbage (of course), but that’s okay, because if you get there from here, their pseudo-academic risk studies will look pretty darn pale next to the vivid reality of an armed woman saving herself.

  3. Generally speaking, if a perp/actor survives a DGU, especially with domestic matters, be aware of the bloodline; literally and figuratively.

This and others like it, is just the beginning. I hope she will be able to sleep soon.

I wonder how many of those women murdered were in California, when they had to wait an extra 10 days to get a gun? The proud homosexual white man, state senator Tom Ammiano, wrote the law making stalking and rape victims wait those ten extra days to get a gun. Apparently homosexual white men are so much smarter than a woman who has been raped.

“AB 500 – Democratic Assemblymember Tom Ammiano’s bill requires the Department of Justice to have a firearm dealer delay the sale of a gun if the buyer “has been taken into custody and placed in a facility for mental health treatment or evaluation, that he or she has been arrested for, or charged with, a crime, or that the purchaser is attempting to purchase more than one firearm within a 30-day period.” The DOJ must determine whether or not that person is eligible to buy a firearm within 30 days of the usual 10-day waiting period.”
