Biden on Guns: I Am Coming for Your ‘Assault Rifles’

Joe Biden

Joe Biden (AP Photo/Steve Helber)

Biden, after all, has repeatedly demonstrated that he has zero comprehension of either the purpose or importance of the Second Amendment. Whether your sons are “hunters” or not is completely irrelevant in this conversation. And just as “yelling fire” is protected by the Constitution, so is owning an “AR-14.”

(Let’s also take a moment to note that Biden is such a champion of the Second Amendment that not only can’t he get rudimentary gun facts right, almost everything he says on the matter is fatuous. A few week ago he was telling a cheering crowd that 150 million Americans had been murdered on the streets of the United States by firearms since 2007. This was about week after his silly rant noting that revolutionary AK-47-wielding Americans would be slaughtered by F-15s.)

The man in the video — whose name I wish I knew — is right. Biden supports every single serious national effort to restrict gun rights, all of them part of a concerted effort to incrementally terminate civilian gun ownership in the United States. It’s all right there on his campaign issues page. When CNN asked Biden what he had to say to gun owners who claimed that “a Biden Administration means they’re going to come for my guns,” he answered, “Bingo, you’re right if you have an assault weapon.”

You’re taking this out of context and you are obviously too ignorant to understand the nuance of Vice President Biden’s statements. We, with a heart full of love of and compassion, support the 2nd ammendment and are on the side of gun owners. And as we’ve stated over and over again: any American who opposes us will be slaughtered with F-15’s, Hellfire missiles, and nuclear weapons. So, for the sake and safety of your families, we should sit down and come to a compromised solution on the national gun violence epidemic.

So next time you buy that duck and child (!) hunting license, make sure to keep it “Joe Biden legal” and only use three shells when you legally hunt children.

These are the stupidest… most corrupt… morally deficient people… ever!

      3. avatar Miner49er says:

Yes, the glory days of Barack Hussein Obama, I remember them well!

Relaxing ATF regulations on NFA items like machine guns and silencers by removing the requirement for approval from the local CLEO makes it much easier for citizens to own machine guns, silencers, etc.

And, Obama’s administration approved both the arm brace for all the SBR fans and bump stocks, the poor man’s machine gun.

And the capstone of Barack Hussein Obama’s expansion of American gun rights was the abolishment of the Reagan era prohibition against carrying firearms on federal lands. Obama signed into law the Bill making it legal for citizens to carry firearms on hundreds of thousands of acres of federal lands.

After three years, I’m still waiting on Donald Trump to expand American gun rights… Crickets.

Well, he did ban bump stocks and publicly support red flag laws. “Let’s just take the guns first and worry about the courts later… “

        1. avatar Possum dislikes dicks says:

. Weird that under Obama I never worried much about gunm rights, but now under ” Your second amendment rights are safe with me” I’m wishing I had stock piled more ammo. Biden ain’t Obama though, Bloomberg’s got him in his pocket.

        2. avatar D.T.O.M. says:

          Miner49er,

Listening to you arrogantly play the “But he banned Bump stocks and he said the words Red Flag” record again and again and again, ad nauseam, as if you found some magic incantation, has gone beyond pathetic.

Few honest people (outside the swampers making money selling the U.S. out to China and other foreign countries) look back wistfully at the Obama presidency. He was a feckless narcissistic fool, that decimated the Democratic party, and gave rise to not only Donald Trump, but to Cortez and her merry band of shrieking virtue-signaling socialist/communists.

So like your likely nominee Biden (another Obama legacy) you need to change the record, it’s been skipping for quite some time.

        3. avatar Miner49er says:

          D’tom, the facts bears repeating.

And the fact is, Barack Hussein Obama expanded gun rights for American citizens in many different ways.

Fact is, Donald Trump has not only not expand the gun rights, he has taken right away from American citizens. Hundreds of thousands of American citizens who own bump stocks have now become felons.
What did trump mean when he said maybe we should just take the guns and worry about the courts later?

“outside the swampers making money selling the U.S. out to China”

So, you do know, it was Republican president Richard Milhouse Nixon who secretly went to China without the approval of Congress to negotiate trade deals,.

        4. avatar Kyle in Upstate NY says:

Trump says a lot of things but it is what he does that one has to look at. That said, Miner49, you are ignoring all the ways that Obama infringed on gun rights. He tried for universal background checks, made gunsmiths the equivalent of gun manufacturers, made it where if you needed help as a disabled veteran, you lost your gun rights, his BATFE tried to ban M855 ammunition, etc…but Trump bans bump stocks and that is a big thing to you.

But, how is that possible while you’re running for president?” Well, it’s the same tactic used by Hillary in 2016. Who needs public appearances when they have the media in their back pocket? The People were not duped in 2016, I believe Trump will win by a larger margin in 2020, regardless of how the media spins coronavirus and anything else they can concoct.

      1. avatar George from Alaska says:

I also believe Trump will win bigger in November, taking the electoral college vote and the popular vote. Many Black, Brown and other groups that were on the fence last election have seen such positive change in their lives and in the American economy that people are going to vote Trump behind the curtain even if some of their friends would ridicule them if they knew. The pollsters continually forget about women who work, shoot and have somewhat conservative values and they pollsters have no way of accurately garnering good information about our military and their voting preferences. When I watch young conservative meetings on college campuses cheering to conservative speakers while unwashed, goofy headed ANTIFA types try as hard as they can, but consistently failing to make any valid points or headway I know that those meetings/gatherings influences people who are still deciding.

I’m not saying he was right, that this was to his advantage politically, or that he maintained the dignity the office of the presidency deserves. It’s the opposite of all three of those.

Still, compared to Supplicant-in-Chief Obama, Biden did at least stand there and do his thing just inches from his interlocutor. Look at Obama’s body language and listen to his voice whenever he found himself in an encounter, whether with Joe the Plumber or Vladimir Putin the Impaler. Wholly hesitant and deferential. Pure [wussy].

Granted, the crowd and Biden’s bodyguards would have stepped in had the questioner become physical, but there’s nothing anyone could do if he were a crazy man and threw that first punch. Biden put his mug out there, vulnerable to that potential. It’s not much, but it’s something, and still much more than Obama could pull off.

  16. avatar uncommon_sense says:

The First Amendment to our United States Constitution protects most speech. It does not protect all speech such as slander or yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater when there is no fire.

Biden is trying to claim a similar stance on the Second Amendment: that it protects most firearms and yet it does not protect all firearms. Of course that would mean the Second Amendment only protects whatever classes of firearms that the Ruling Class declares as protected, and all other classes of “dangerous” firearms (such as AR-15s) are unprotected.

That is problematic because it is not a direct analog to the First Amendment. The reason that the First Amendment does not protect slander or yelling “Fire!” (when there is no fire) is because such statements are demonstrably false and harm people.

Owning and possessing “dangerous” firearms does not harm anyone. And prohibiting their ownership and possession simply because the owner/possessor could harm someone is no more righteous than requiring that everyone put on a muzzle before entering a theater since they could yell “Fire!” when there is no fire.

    1. avatar pwrserge says:

Fun fact, the “yelling fire” standard has been overturned for about half a century. The current standard is the known likelihood of IMMINENT harmful acts resulting from the speech. Aka, the speech itself is not illegal, it’s the CONSEQUENCES of the speech. As such, no gun itself should be illegal, just the consequence of using it for illegal purposes. Fortunately, we still have murder, assault, and reckless endangerment statutes on the books.

      1. avatar Dave says:

It’s imminent *lawless* action. But it’s still disturbing how many people still mouth the “shouting ‘Fire!’” trope.

    2. avatar Gman says:

The First Amendment to our United States Constitution protects most speech. It does not protect all speech such as slander or yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater when there is no fire.

Incorrect. All speech is protected. What is not protected is the consequences of harming others with that speech. We don’t ban words, thoughts, or ideas which are the tools of the first. And hence the government does not have the power to ban the keeping or bearing of arms of any kind.
You are correct that our keeping and bearing arms, of any kind, harms no one.

      1. avatar uncommon_sense says:

        Gman,

All speech is protected. What is not protected is the consequences of harming others with that speech.

I do not agree that all speech is protected. (I will not argue why at this time.)

Regardless, even if all speech is protected and only the consequences are not protected, it is the same end result. We are simply arguing semantics.

        1. avatar Gman says:

Oh no sir. The difference is what it is all about. The difference ends up being whether the government can preemptively restrict rights because of what you might do or not. There are no Constitutionally permissible restrictions upon the exercise of a right. This is the only position which ends the tyranny. If you agree with the false Scalia premise that rights are not absolute then you have already lost the argument, and your God given rights.

    3. avatar LarryinTX says:

The first Amendment only protects speech, religion, assembly, etc from action by Congress, not from action by states or municipalities, as in, “Congress shall make no law …” 2A, OTOH, protects RTKBA from any infringement, period. That is why RTKBA is not simply included in 1A.

So, Joe was right and everybody who claimed he was incorrect are themselves, in fact, the boobs.

      As always, fascinating…

      1. avatar Yellow Devil says:

lol Joe Biden doesn’t even know his own family members half the time, let alone proper weapon nomenclatures. You know he meant AR-15 but goofed up because his handler didn’t keep a tight leash. Good try trying to cover up Biden’s gaffs though.

    1. avatar LarryinTX says:

Just heard Russia has just changed the rules so Putin can stay in power until 2036! No doubt because that is exactly what 100% of the Russian people want, right?

Even the most diehard Trump people know and understand that Joe will be the next president in a landslide election. You cannot beat the triumvirate of Biden, Beto, and Obama. Please tell me one midwest state that Trump will win. Please tell me one southern state that Trump will win. Please tell me one eastern seaboard state that Trump will win. I won’t even bother with the west coast. Eat that for lunch 2A people.

Elections should have nothing to do with Our bill of rights. Just a hint buckaroo, “they” won’t stop with the 2a,

      1. avatar Kimber says:

Correction. Elections pave the way for a new order in society. In this order guns are not needed and thus obsolete. Violence is not condoned and an aggressive nature is a threat to civilians.

    2. avatar LarryinTX says:

It is certainly possible that Biden will be our next president in a landslide election, but what is certain is that will not happen in 2020. Possibly not in 2024. If SloJoe can cancel any campaigning because of people catching cold (watch him!), then Trump can cancel the election for the same reason.

  30. avatar Tommy357 says:

You all miss the main truth. Joe has no agenda other than “beat Donald Trump.” He is an empty (headed) vessel into which his handlers can pour whatever word-strings they think will get him through the primary, and then the general. Sure, those word strings get scrambled and come out in unpredictable ways. But never mistake them for actual thoughts.

O’Biden Bama’s first order of business should be to blame Trump for his Alzheimer’s. Hildeb!tch can call it racist, a 16 year old autistic Swedish dropout can travel the world complaining about it and Al Gore can cure it and get another Nobel prize.

      “Grow up. No one cares.”

You should and that’s not crying, that’s called taking action. To supply resources to those who would use them to support tyranny and oppression is worse than foolish. For you to advocate for those who would do such things is incredibly stupid.

FBI: More People Killed by Hammers, Clubs than with Rifles of Any Kind
By AWR Hawkins August 12th, 2019

The most recent FBI crime stats show that more people were killed in 2017 with hammers and clubs than were killed with rifles of any kind.
    • 467 people were killed with “blunt objects (hammers, clubs, etc.) while
    • 403 were killed with rifles.
And it must be noted that the category of “rifles” used by the FBI includes bolt action, pump action, single shot, and semi-automatic, as well as those the left describes as “assault weapons.” This means only a percentage of the 403 deaths attributed to “rifles” would have been carried out with an “assault weapon.” So the gap between the number of persons beaten to death with hammers and clubs verses those killed with “assault weapons” would be even greater than the gap between those who died in a hammer/club attack versus those who died being shot with “rifles” of any kind.

    2017 crime figures showed
    • 1,591 people were killed with “knives or cutting instruments” while
    • 403 were killed with “rifles.” This means nearly four times as many people were stabbed to death as were killed with any kind of rifle.

It is not only the Guns – 2016 Bastille Day in Nice by a Truck
    • 87 Death – 434 Injured
