Worcester Buy-Back Aims at the Big Guns

From the photo, it’s hard to tell exactly what’s happening in Worcester, Mass. Do they like their guns really big or their politicians really small? Judging by Massachusetts’ track record, the latter seems the safer bet. As in all things, it’s a matter of perspective. That’s State Rep. Jim O’Day announcing that the Wegman’s grocery store chain will support their annual gun buy-back program. But don’t jump up and down figuring you’ve just found a great way to pay for Christmas this year. Unless you have a bunch of broken-ass POS’s taking up safe space, it won’t be worth your time. “The value of the gift card is higher depending on the type of gun they hand in: long guns net $25; handguns net $50 and semi-automatic guns net $75.” Twenty-five bucks for a 10/22? Barely pays for the gas to get there.

I’ve got a beat down .25 semi auto pistol not even worth 20 bucks for them, unfortunately too far for me to travel. I keep this relic around just for the occasion. This time of year well meaning liberals with no belief in Xmas beyond the day off make deals like this for deals at local stores. My buddy found a rusted .22 rifle in the mud that was beyond saving, he’s sitting on a payout eventually too.

D’ya think that Worcester would be interested in a nice handbag?

According to the TSA, it’s a gun, right?

  3. avatar ST says:

One study by the FBI discovered that buybacks are used by felons to get rid of ‘hot’ guns they no longer want.Merry Christmas for the libs and felons .

    1. avatar Tom says:

I would believe that. Prices for the trade ins are too low for legal owned guns. Stolen guns which do not work would be traded in for small change drug money.

      1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

if a gun was unsed in the commission of a felony, I would get rid of it.

  4. avatar Texan says:

Judging by the size of those guns, it seems that Rep. O’Day is trying to compensate for something.

    1. avatar WW Paul says:

      Good one.

  5. avatar Chris Dumm says:

I’ll take one of those 4-gauge Remington 1100 punt guns he’s standing over. Think the Sons Of Guns guys can build me some ammo?

    1. avatar Joe nobody says:

No they could only tie them together and paint them black

I am leprechaun O’Day. I will trade you my pot of gold for all your guns.

  7. avatar JRP says:

I can’t believe Wegman’s is involved with one of these stupid programs. I shop there all the time, not anymore I guess. As much as I wish to vote with my wallet, it really sucks sometimes when you find out a store chain you like is anti-gun.

  8. avatar Javier says:

Is he the mayor of the Lilliputians ?

  9. avatar "Dr."Dave says:

I’d get a nice card board sign that says “I pay $76 CASH for guns” and chill in the parking lot. Maybe get some cool new toys on the cheap.

    1. avatar Javier says:

Would that be legal? without a backround check on the seller? 😉

      1. That’s very much legal. Individual sellers don’t have to run background checks on buyers.

        1. avatar Javier says:

You missed it “seller” as in bad guy trying to get rid of a misused tool.

  10. avatar JohnR says:

Why do municipalities call these programs “Gun Buy-Backs”? They never sold the guns in the first place, so how can they buy them back?

    1. avatar Javier says:

When talking about politicians logic has no place.

  11. avatar bob says:

Saw a video of one of these on the news once they “bought back”an uzi, mac-10, sawed off shotgun, and a sawed off AK-47 type weapon without a stock.
